Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

Since the Mrs. was working most of the weekend I went to ground – as I often do when left to my own devices. During my “me” time I decided to do a bit of fine scale modeling. My dad gave me a few models for my birthday (not just randomly, I love making them.) and I built one this weekend.

For those of you who don’t know, I love tanks. Actually that’s not really accurate – I nurture a rather unhealthy obsession with them. In short, I’m a tank nut. So of course the modeling I choose to do is almost always a tank.

The obsession really does cover all tanks but I have a special fondness for the WWII era armor and was uber-stoked to put this 1/35 scale Panther together.

Before any WWII buffs start pointing out that there were no African-Core German tanks that wore this color scheme (normally sporting mustard and green or grey) I must warn you I’m not a rivet counter. Historic accuracy isn’t really my bag. I’m just into the tanks themselves.

In this case my Panther was used as a test bed to learn how to dry brush, having never attempted it before. I went a bit overboard but I have a King Tiger coming up and I wanted to find out how far I could push things and still have them come out right. The flash and light in the pics is kinda crappy too cuz it’s actually not this shiny – which I find annoying. I suppose I could fix it post but that’s not really the point of the exercise.

Anyway, I’ll quit blabbing. Had to show somebody and you guys are about the only other geek homies I have who would care about such things.

I think the pics are great. The tile works great with the models. If you have an ajustible flash just bounce the light of the sealing.

Your models rock. I built models, but always had to build them by looking at the pictures. I hated the put part A into part 2b at…

Well, considering that they both work full time, she’s expecting their second child and the little one is pretty much consigned to the house because of a compromised immune system and, even with the NTD diagnosis he’s probably still facing 18 more months of chemo, just to be safe, I’d say that they’re allowed to tell us through Facebook.

Besides, I’ll talk to him on Friday night or Saturday morning when we have our weekly post-BSG talk.

Good point.
I started writing my piece for Percussion Ensemble. Composing is much harder then they expected.
I spet 45 minuts writing the first measure of my melody, I’m like Axl Rose neurotic.

That is why I have a laptop. Hubby has an iPhone that is handy when we are out and have to wait on something. The apps are some really silly things too.

haha ya the apps are cool. I have aim and myspace on it. But thats cause im a teenager. lol. but ya i want a laptop but my mom says i have to wait till highschool to get one. and im fine with that.

Oh, now I am mad. You have such good toys and you are that young. Just kidding. I have had a laptop since they were invented. I hate sitting at a desk. I can get on GWC from the back yard, bedroom or kitchen. I do not sit still well.

Get good grades and the parents are suckers for getting the fancy toys.

I was planning on it:p your like the best composer i know.
I’m still on the meledy, its not bad yet because its still fun, and the ideas are (mostly) flowing freely. My biggest problem was i worked for like an hour, played it, and wasnt sastified at all, and ended up writing most of it over:cool:
