Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

$700 - a lot, I know. If I wasn’t so impatient, I’d wait a while and let the price go down! It’s got a 3-cell battery but I don’t know what the charge life is. I’ll let everyone know!

I got to hang out with Starbucaneer, her G/F, a couple of her very cool friends and Raemani last night. A splendid time was had by all. (Although it would’ve been an even better time if Pike had bothered to show up like he promised he would. :p).

You didn’t scare the g/f away! Even though it was a geek party

She was geeking out with the rest of us, as she is awesome. (I think you’re thinking of her roommate.)

Ah very true. That’s what I get for not being able to be there… :frowning: But it’s good to know you guys had a good time  and my sister and I could geek out to each other on the phone, so there was that.

We’ll do it again, don’t worry.

Since I’ve been gone for a while: I got a Blu-Ray player for Christmas. Just in time to since my old upconvert crapped out right before break.

Also, I didn’t skip a class all week. Maybe not something cool that I’ve done, but a big accomplishment for me.

I got the 1000 just before christmas, it’s so frakkin rad. I’m still getting used to it but I can type like a beast on it now

yeah im freakin out over the asus… im sure all the netbooks r pretty compareable… and the typing will take me some time, with a few mstakes… but i love the portability, and the 6cell batt. 6-7 acctual hours O batt… LOVE IT… Def. reccomended to others

I watched the Steelers game yesterday.

Finally grabbed a point and shoot digital camera so I don’t need to lug my DSLR around

I am now quote-able. MercuryShadow is using one of my stupid comments in his siggy. I’m loved, I’m really loved!

The Mrs. got a job offer yesterday! It’s not great, but not bad. Temporary work that could lead to something permanent. Just data entry for now, on a six week contract at first. It should be enough to ease some of our money woes, albeit temporarily. Still, we’re excited.

Woot! Glad to hear it, Armando! It feels like we’ve been kicked in the teeth repeatedly the last few months and we haven’t gone through nearly what you have. Here’s hoping this is the start to a brighter year and many to come for you.

Congrats, Armando. That’s great news!

My wife survived last week’s layoffs at her company, so we’re happy about that.

awesome guy!

Yay!

It’s good to hear some positive employment news coming from you

Congrats. A job like that, if you keep your head down and do it right, it’s easy to look good. Plus, typically, it’s the kind of work in which you can usually wear headphones…

Thanks, guys. It’s pretty minimum wage stuff, but she seems energized (even through a cold). To the point that she’s looking for something better rather vigorously right now (literally, as I type), since this job doesn’t start till mid-February due to clearances and such, so she’s treating it as a safety net for now. There’s also a strong possibility that she could get her old job back next fall, finally, which would be a lot better (as long as I can keep the same schedule at my school and at least one of the two commissions I’m counting on right now comes through–and I’m pretty certain that at least one of them is a go, just not sure how much money/how many bands are involved).

Yes, it’s nice to give good employment news. Maybe soon I’ll have even better ones.

You all can laugh at me, but spouse and I are watching Alien on Netflix. Because I’ve never seen it.
