Well, cool stuff BEING done - I’m finally able to watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind, because it’s on TV and my mother is at work (oh, home for the holidays :)). I’ve never seen the film, since my mother hates it. Really, really hates it. My father was giddy when he saw it was on and that she wasn’t home.
The frak? There’s a story there somewhere.
She hates when people play with food. That appears to be the story.
It’s a bit of a letdown.
Soooo, I’m guessing ‘Animal House’ isn’t a household favorite.
I’ve just been loaned Buffy seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. I can now find out what all the fuss is about.
I got the stitches out of my knee and the doc says no physical therapy!! And - I got 7 hours of sleep last night. Hey - the twins like to see who can out-scream each other about 1am most nights so that was awesome! But Aunt “Sha-ee” (the nephew can’t do L’s yet!) is tired and is kinda looking forward to being home again after the holiday!
Just be warned, fuss was not based on season 1 and the first half of season 2. So please be gentle!
I’ll keep that in mind. The friend that loaned these to me actually likes season 1, though she did remind me that seasons 2-4 are the best. She also doesn’t like Firefly, though, so I don’t know what any of this means.
Me, I’ve never been into vampires, so we’ll see how this goes. The eye candy should help…
Whut!?!
Anywho, Lady D loves the Buffyverse so I’m sure you’ll dig it. I never tread on it. Maybe I’ll give it a gander after I’ve got my Boston Legal fix.
I expect this thread to be quite busy tomorrow happy holidays everyone!
Well, I just watched the second to last Pushing Daisies ever. I’m saving the last one for a cold, lonely afternoon. I already miss that show. Somehow, I doubt even Buffy will make up for it…
Okay, I’m starting the post-Christmas, uber-materialistic cool craaaaaaaaaap recap:
I got a Wii Fit, which is awesome. I may actually get some regular exercise for the first time in two years again. Woot!
But, the best presents I got today were:
- a small sculpture of my oldest dressed as an angel, made by her from modeling clay
(she’d been hiding this thing for over a month to keep the surprise). - A painting that my mom made about ten years ago. It’s the second in a series of
four in a larger series. One hangs in her dining room. The other three just went to
each of her kids. It may very well be the best present I’ve EVER gotten. I had tears
in my eyes when I opened it, I loved it so much.
Yeah, you heard me: I cried at Christmas. ME. Mr. “I can’t get into this holiday this year.” What’re you gonna do about it?
Jeebus, dude. I cried (a very little bit ) too.
Right on!! The magic of Christmas. That’s wonderful Armando.
I’m so happy to hear you had great holidays. You really deserved a wonderful Christmas. But I do reserve the right to call you a girly man at some later point
I wasn’t having a very good Christmas this year until I saw my eight nieces and nephews Christmas night. They were just so excited. Of course about presents, and there were some hilarious moments when they found out what they got, the flurry of wrapping paper, how they all wanted to be Santa and give out presents without regard to any of us knowing who they were from! But also because they were excited to be altogether with their Nanna, their cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, wanting to sit on my knee and tell me how they went swimming and ate party pies for Christmas lunch, and what Santa brought, and give me kisses and wrap their arms around my neck. That was more fun than getting presents. Sorry if this is rambling and sappy.
That sounds like a wonderful time, Armado! I’m sure you’ll treasure that sculpture forever. I’ve got a portrait (of me at 5 yrs old) done by my grandfather, who’s been gone for years, hanging on the wall. Looking at it always brings me back to being a little kid, standing near him, looking over his shoulder as he painted in his little attic studio. That being said:
You’re supposed to be a MAN !! You’re only supposed to cry when Spock dies.
uhh, CHRISTMAS!!!
We had a wonderful Christmas.
There was something very sweet about a whole day with the family —where we didn’t leave the house (and I didn’t touch my computer) and loved every moment of it.
The kid’s fishes died because of the cold temp during the ice storm a couple weeks ago.
But Santa came through, and brought 'em both new fishes and new fish tanks.
So Long, Santa Claus, and Thanks for All the Fish!
You? But you seem so hard core. Would Dirk Benedict cry? Huh?
Well, probably. I bet he’s just an old softy inside too.
Right on!! The magic of Christmas. That’s wonderful Armando.
It’s a Festivus miracle!

Well…let’s see how you well you do that once I’m done pumping up on my Wii Fit.

It is. But it’s nice.

Cool! Now, what kind of fishes were they? Sharks or pirhannas?
