Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

There are muther-frakkin snakes on the muther-frakkin plane!

inserts Samuel Jackson quote here

Dang it, I didn’t see there was another page!

I made a contribution to Snopes.com! The other day, a customer came into our Starbucks with a wild story about a co-worker’s Down’s Syndrome brother locking a door-to-door salesman midget in the closet. We all had a good laugh and spread the story around, but the more I heard myself tell it, the fishier it sounded. So I did some research and found other variations of the story online, and submitted my findings to Snopes. They had a version of the story on their site already, and added my contribution to it.

Barbara Mikkelson herself sent me the email to let me know she’d added my story to the site!

Long live truth!!

The story’s here:
Look for my bit at the paragraph that starts with
“In 2010 we received a version of the closet tale…”

The mrs. landed a new job today. Same pay, for now, but after a trial period (during which she’ll still be technically a temp.) she should be moving up to full time status with a hike in pay and benefits.

So, woot! I don’t have to land either of the jobs I’ve tried out for in the last two weeks. (Although I kind of want both of them. So, here’s hoping for good news on MY job search front soon.)

That’s great news!

I got some fun new shirts today, so that makes me happy.

Yeaaaaaaay! Go economy, go economy! You next A.!

two snow days in three weeks!!!

Dude, seriously, I watch that film about once a month, the niece LOVES it, and letting her watch it means I don’t have to watch frakkin’ Tinkerbell again!

Canada just got there 10th gold medal… jumps up and down… were so kickin it this olympics

edited: to add we just finished off the semi finals to play for gold against the USA as it should be.

I picked up an airhorn at Harbor Freight on sale for $9.99 for giggles and installed it in my car last week. It was funny sounding, so I picked up another. Then a few days later, another.

I’ve now got 7 air horns (driven by 3 compressors) under the hood of my Pontiac Vibe, and it pleases me. Here’s the evolution (I converted the alternating horn in the first one to a single blast by the end):

http://hallert.net/images/airhorn1.mp3
http://hallert.net/images/airhorn2.mp3
http://hallert.net/images/airhorn3.mp3
finally http://hallert.net/images/airhorn4.mp3 (7 horns)

It is… loud.

I was crossing a railroad trestle recently in the car at the same time a pedestrian was stepping over the tracks without looking around to check for trains. I must have hit a bump, because I accidentally firmly depressed the button to activate the horns. Whoops! I had never actually seen anyone run in place midair before then, it was quite a sight.

My goal going forward is to avoid the temptation to use it to be an annoying jerk. As this goes against my very nature, I expect it will be something of a struggle.

[Snoopy dance!]

Oh my. I can imagine people sticking to ceilings like a cat scared by a noisy puppy.

You should do it once more and youtube it. That way you’ll know you can watch it later anytime you cross the tracks. No more struggle. d:

I’ve heard from some friends, and from family members, that the people I care most about in Chile are fine. That’s a relief (even if we wish we could talk to them ourselves…)

A number of friends from grad school and I are waiting for news of a friend who lives in Concepción, 70 miles from the epicenter of the quake. We’re all very worried for her.

Yeah, I have some (very convoluted) relatives near there, we haven’t heard anything yet either. :frowning:

I just got a copy of DR. Horrible on DVD for 2.99$ in my local bin, as Chuck would put it. I just can’t believe it!!!
