I had a very big night last night, premiering a piece of a friend’s along with this massive cantata I wrote about Mark Rothko and his Harvard murals at the National Gallery. After an absolutely exhausting, run-myself ragged week, it’s very gratifying to have a nearly flawless performance of such a long, compicated piece that took so much out of me to write (one year of composition and nearly a year of decompression after that). I’m listening to the archival recording right now and wish I had the rights/permission to release it commercially, because it’s that good. I’m very lucky.
This week: one more performance then I fly off for the first of two job interviews this month. My visits, sadly, will continue to be sporadic for a while.

My day stuck in a cold office waiting on a server rack to be delivered (see B+M thread for details) has given me ample opportunity to work out what I need to do over the coming months.
The cool craaap bit is I intend to acquire a Dell netbook so I can make a hackintosh. It’s about time I really got a Mac, but I can’t afford a proper one, so this’ll have to do for now
Oh and a quick edit - have managed to persuade management that I have to be in the US soon for various server upgrades/work. Now all I need to do is get the dates to to fall in the right times so I can be in Boston the week before the meetup weekend. An internal flight from Boston to Dallas will be achievable for me, whereas the cost for flying from London to Dallas are outside of my means right now.

While home sick, I watched Serenity for the first time ever. :o I know, I’m way behind! At first I was not sure what was going on, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Now I want to buy the DVD’s of Firefly and really catch up…
