Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

I wish… the dubbed voices are just ridiculous. This was particularly evident in the scene where Adama confronted Tigh and Starbuck - so much was lost since evidently the voice actors couldn’t make any effort to reproduce the emotions of the scene in their voices. Same with most of the James Callis scenes - we’ve really got scared and kooky Baltar here, you get a lot of it from his voice, and it was lost.

That said, they were showing BSG on broadcast TV on a Saturday morning. If it had been on cable it would have been in English subtitled, but hey, it is what it is.

I am not sure how but I missed the fact that Caprica was on demand. Woot watching it now.

Yes! It’s minus the nudity and plus new effects and scenes as compared to the DVD.

So less skin and more story?

Took my seven year-old shooting for the first time today and had a great time! We brought the 10-22 and my Mosin-Nagant up, I kept him on the 10-22 for obvious reasons, heh.

It was fanastic, can’t wait to go up again soon!

[dances for joy] My friends whose little boy is fighting cancer had some great news after surgery this morning: what looked like new tumor growth in the boy’s liver (he’s fighting kidney cancer) turned out to be a bunch of scar tissue. They’re still waiting for confirmation from pathology, but it looks like they’re out of the woods. [/dances for joy]

I’m sure that’s a relief. We’ll continue to send positive, healing vibes his way.

I signed on to be the props master for a local production of The Putnam County Spelling Bee. It’s been years since I worked on a show, but the crew is pretty much the same as when I worked there back in college. First production meeting tomorrow–excited!

W00t! Enjoy. Sounds like a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

After many trials and tribble-ations (my 6 year old cart stopped working at a layover in NY on my way to VA for the holidays, had to pay half of the $200 repair bill [no last minute presents for my family] to get it fixed in VA [after they first told me I’d only have to pay $85, but then they said my charger was “dead”], came back to Boston and tried to order a new cart, was told my doctor’s note needed to be submitted within 45 days, found out said doctor stopped working last week [that one really gets my goat], hauled sb to the medical center to talk with a new doctor and got a new note, and faxed new note), it looks like I should be getting a cart within 2 weeks. I hope…

Whew!

I am glad and send my good thoughts.

I posted a picture I took a couple years ago to reddit.com today that made it to #1!

Over 60,000 hits so far today, I’m once again briefly famous on teh interwebs!

Here’s the pic:

Here’s it at #1:

Then, by request, I did a successful Q&A post about being a middle-class dude with a plane:
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/amt0d/iama_middleclass_private_pilot_with_my_own_plane/

All of this in the middle of a work-emergency that kept me in the office for like 11 hours, heh. When it rains, it pours!

Upvoted for awesomesauce!

Oh yeah…pathology confirmed it was just scar tissue. Bullet was dodged. My friends are estatic. (And so am I.)

Thanks! It’s been wild.

I don’t know if anyone remembers, but a few months ago my PC crapped out hard. After a month or so of limping along it finally died and I had to import my iTunes onto my wife’s 5 year-old 70GB HDD computer (I don’t know how she even got to pick such a tiny HDD). Anyhoo, with a few gigs to spare she bought herself an iPod touch 32GB, and while that’s very cool, the BEST part is that it means I was allowed to go ahead and get our next computer, a Dell Studio 17 laptop that I really had to dig around to re-find. It’s not going to be any kind of media server but the HDD is suitable for my Classic and her Touch with lots of room to spare (320GB), and I will FINALLY get to play Spore someday! Dell’s got a long lead time on it because I put a bit of extra RAM in it, but I have waited three months just to get the PC, so a few more weeks is no problem. So to summarize, I get to share in an iPod Touch without being limited by the size of one, and I’m finally getting a MODERN computer! Yay!

Woot! Thunderscreech!

Relieved Woot! Armando!

Went to Borders to exchange a book (duplicate xmas present) for another, and was caught $.04 short. A girl in line spotted me. Four hours later, I’ve finished reading “A Million Miles in a Thousand Years” by Donald Miller. Thank you, helpful girl.

Anyone else expecting that story to end more along the lines of “four hours later, I let myself out her apartment with a friendly wave and went hone to start the book”?

Yes. There are some holes in that plot.

That is just ripe with double-entendre.

Since tradition dictates I post here as well as the “teh suck” thread, let me tell you about my great winter cleaning of '09/'10. Unlike before, I’m now completely unpacked from my last move, my linen closet is actually a linen closet, my spare room is now a useable office area and not just housing my cat’s litter box and toys, and I feel much better!
