Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

Put it on top then.

Or, in front. ^^

Karma balancing post, since I posted on the B&M thread:

One of the meetings I had this week bore fruit, and the Maryland chapter of the American String Teachers Association is jumping on board on a commissioning consortium I’ve been working on (the one that my friend, who was leading it originally and whose idea it was, had to bail out on a few weeks ago). It might even turn into a little new music festival for them! Also, the Louis Andriessen project I’m putting together for next year might be buying me major bonus points at work (as in at least guaranteeing me work for at least one other year, which is a bummer in a way since this kind of thing would get me tenure in any other institution, but at least I’m making myself valuable and noticed to them).

My cool crap is from last week - I’m just slow to post!

Lizzie’s goulash facial…

Sam’s new hat…

Johnathan’s excitement…

Wish I was still there…

Heh. Took me two looks before I got that one.

I just can’t believe how big the twins are. Time flies!

You can thank Grandma for that one!

I will let White Christmas speak for me…

Not too much, the roads aren’t bad, and it’s very pretty outside.

I write 3d modelers, yay!

Just wanted to show off a little. It’s just a programming project I’ve been doing, rewriting the 3d modeling part of blender (a 3d production program).

I managed to sign up for my new insurance mail prescription program. Do you think it could get any harder?

My oldest sister who was told she’d never ever be able to have a baby is 4 months pregnant, she told us all today.

Can’t stop smiling!

That’s wonderful

Awesome - congrats Aunt Monkey!

Dammit, beat me to it.

I will add that it should be sung to the tune of Rock Lobster.

I love it when that happens. SQUEE!!!

I’m a pretty big fan of it too!!

Woot!

Last year, my friend’s brother and sister-in-law adopted a kid because they couldn’t have any of their own, and as soon as the adoption went through, they found out they were pregnant with twins!

Sometimes when it rains, it pours good things.

Many congratulations to your family, Monkey!

As for my cool thing that I did this weekend:

Highway 64/40 thru St. Louis finally reopened today after 2 years of construction. Yesterday, they had a big block party and let all the eager citizens stroll along the new road, riding their bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. There’s something epically metaphorical about seeing several hundred people walking up and down a long, car-less highway. I got out there on my bike with some friends, and even came across some other friends who’d brought a ball and some chalk and drawn up a four-square court. Despite the 30-degree temperatures, it was some of the most fun I’ve had in ages.

Plus, now traffic will be a little better in the morning. Huzzah!

I kinda wanna do that one day. How long (distance) was it?
