Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

“Draw a scene from Twilight” said the boss.
“I’ve not read it” I lied
“You’ve seen the film though right?”
“Oh jeebus no” I replied
“It’s about a Vampire and a girl who fall in love” she tells me “Just draw them!”
So I did.

I don’t have a scanner, but we didn’t win the company competition, who’da thought Edward ripping Bellas throat out would be considered bad taste?

It took me three days to sit through that movie. Do not attempt. Ever.

I hate to think what you do for Thanksgiving…

“As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

(Or the whole ep for those who cant to see the awesome scene where the drop occurs, too.)

The awesomest thing happened today.

A customer turned in a lost debit card she found in our cafe. The name on the card was “Fame Hughes.” Seriously. So we stuck it in our safe, waiting to hear from the card’s owner. And this afternoon…

Yeah, I totally got a phone call from Fame.

This has got to be a good omen somehow.

You knew exactly what I was thinking, Chuck!

So THAT’S what you meant. Awesome!

I’ve had a bit of a crazy day. I had meant to use it to prepare individual parts for a big piece I’m premiering in January but instead I spent the day on the phone and on email trying to track down permissions because Voice of America wants to record my group’s concert on Friday night for a program they broadcast on their Chinese service. In the process, I may have salvaged my Louis Andriessen project (which I’ve been working on for two years). Waiting to hear from the Dutch consulate now, as the ball is in their court.

Fingers crossed.

EDIT: sorry for the triple post. I’d meant to write the above as an edit to my comment to Stroogie.

My old computer is a Powerbook (which I got two weeks before Jobs announced the Intel transition, but I’d’ve bought it anyway). It was very nice, especially for school, traveling, and fiddling around with code at coffee shops. But after a while, I started to miss having a fast HD, gobs of memory, and a server class CPU.

Uh yeah

5 feet’s not bad. I’d be lucky to miss my own undercarriage.

My first “laptop” was the IIc. I still have it. I should bring it in to show my history class.

My ensemble’s concert on Friday will be recorded by the Voice of America for a documentary feature on us for a show called “Cultural Odyssey” put out by their China division. 30 million people could potentially see this!

Rewatching Firefly, forcing my brother-in-law to watch it to. We’re part way through ‘The Train Job’, and I think he may juuuuust about be hooked.

You mean one of these?

That’s pretty spiffy. Does it still work?

Is that Dr. Floyd?

If he’s anything like me, by the time you guys get to “Jaynestown” he’ll be hopelessly addicted. Being introduced to Firefly is perhaps the highlight of my becoming part of this forum. What a beautiful work of art that show is!

Well, I don’t officially acquire this until tomorrow, but I figure it’s close enough to post:

Hey guys - NBC has ordered 6 more episodes of Chuck so we should have 19 new episodes!!!

Congrats! Welcome to mortgage payments, remodeling, and upkeep that you now have to do yourself.

Well, it’s a townhome, so I don’t have to do any of the exterior upkeep. The HOA takes care of that
