My car is finally fixed! It’s been in the shop for a week. I’m so glad to finally have my own car instead of borrowing whatever vehicle happens to be at the house.
You are free again.
Spouse and I did an awesome hike yesterday (I’m so sore this morning, though) and it was beautiful. And now I’m going to start watching Voyager (never saw it) with my feet up on the couch. An entirely satisfying few days.
Cas, please post your thots on the series here. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about the female captain.
When Voyager first aired I remember a heated discussion between a female and male friend. He started with, “What a bitca!” And did a Mulgrew impression.
I could feel the retaliation before it stuck. It began, “Oh! Here we go again. Every time a woman is in a role of authority, she’s a bicta. Feeling threatened?”
It got nasty from there.
I never had a problem with Janeway, just the series. I was always shocked by many male responses though. I wondered about the whole threatened thing. Also many champions of the series were women. I wondered about that as well. Did they just enjoy that there was a woman in charge?
Once Seven of Nine showed up, it opened a whole other can of worms. I found that different from every Star Trek series before it, the biggest issues were not brought up by the show’s content.
That’s awesome! We’ve camped at least once every year. Kids loves it.
We skipped it this year because Mother Nature screwed us so bad with rain last summer. So this year we’ll go on a weekend without reservations —and pick a weekend where we know the weather is good.
Oh, I totally agree with Talos. I can’t wait to hear your thots on the series.
Voyager wasn’t my favorite series, but I did enjoy it and watched it religiously.
I agree the show got it’s stride when Seven of Nine joined that cast.
I liked all the characters pretty much----not Kes and Neelx as much–but I had not a huge objection to them.
I know many will disagree, but in many ways I liked Voyager more than DS9.
DS9 had great characters, stories, arcs etc, but for me Star Trek isn’t really Star Trek without it being about a ship and its captain and crew out there exploring.
I cashed my savings bonds my Aunt bought me when I was born! 28 years of interest! Came out to 6000$$! I can actually afford another semester of college! Woo-Hoo!!!
I just picked up Season 4 of Buffy so that means i can Frak party again without going thru the hassle of splitting my laptop screen.
I just started a new job. It’s been a terribly stressful past 2 months. Finally the dust is settling. Wish me luck.
Sounds great. I’ve been thinking I’d love to do a series re-watch of Voyager or DS9. Have fun and yes, indeed, share your thoughts.
I got a letter that says I have bonds that matured. $2000. Yey!
Dinner’s on Leah, everyone!
More like money to fix my fence.
Well I’ve acquired both of these in the last month…
And this one I named White Star…
The presentation went well. However, I still feel… almost dread? Certainly not the relief and happiness that I was going for. Alas.
But it’s done! And now, I must dissertate.
Dissertate. Dissertate like the wind. Like no one’s dissertated before!
I don’t know what the top one is, but it looks cool. I’m not much into cars myself, but the bottom one looks cool too. Very, very cool.
Me? I’ve gotten a bunchof books in the past few days, came home from the library with a pile of CD’s (that one’s going in the bitch and moan thread. I have HOURS of music to distill and narrow down before Friday so I can put my grad seminar to rest). But, best of all, I got my second royalty check of the year today AND it was bigger (way bigger. Twice as big, in fact) than I expected. I may buy the mrs. a computer with that money AND have plenty left over for bills or to go into savings for our tenth anniversary cruise in 2 years.
Royalty checks YAY.
This and the “Do you want to date my avatar” video have made my day
It’s and F-302 from Stargate SG-1
