I wish I could take credit for coming up with that, I think i got it from Wil Wheaton’s blog/twitter…don’t quite remember, though I know he uses it. Maybe he stole it from me!
This is for any moderators, I am loving chronicling my BSG Experience, and I wasn’t intending on doing this when I made this thread (thus it’s in the Off-Topic/Other section) so I was wondering if it would be possible to move this whole shebang to the Battlestar Galactica area.
Besides making more sense being in that section, I wouldn’t want others who also haven’t watched BSG (like Temperal) to stumble on any spoilers that i might spew out in my ramblings, not knowing exactly what this thread is about, given the title.
(Boy, I do love me a run-on sentence!)
Anyway, thanks ppl in charge! Just let me know, if you please.
OMG, this is so much fun! Like when Baconface Pumpkinhead watched all of Lost in a matter of months!
Like everyone else, I envy you your new experience, ShutUpWesley! I was a latecomer to BSG. A friend got me watching it midway through the 3rd season, so I can see it from both points of view, and there’s definitely more impact when you can watch them back to back!
Anyway, welcome, and keep it up! Around here, we love seeing the reactions of people new to something wonderful.
Moved. By Your Command. vroom vroom
Thank you, genie.
IBIMB.
Speaking of. Barbara Eden was my first crush.
I especially loved when evil twin Jeannie showed up.
She was naughty. Me like naughty.
But she doesn’t have a goatee. How are we supposed to know she’s evil?
She does… It just isn’t on her face. IYKWIM!
::blank stare and paniced look on face:: oh gods, the visuals… Hmm…on the other hand, pretty kinky
#confused
Man, haven’t had the chance to sit down and watch any BSG in 4 days! Stupid real life.
Saw ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ and first of all… Gaius and Lt. Gaeta whispering back and forth in the bathroom stalls = priceless!
Gaius: “So, how’s it going over there?”
Felix: “Uhh…”
Gaius: “In the lab”
Comedy Gold, says I.
Also this: “No More Mr Nice Gaius!”
…lolz.
Not that I can blame anyone at all, but everyone wants to get with the hot asian Cylon! Though, if they wanted to infiltrate society that’s prolly the best way to do it. I’d most likely fall for it. Hmm, I hope there’s no Cylons on this forum (looking at you Nickname Boomer).
The Brig in this episode seemed to be a central locale for a few firsts. The first time the President actually seemed a bit scary and the first time (presumably in his life) that Gaius prays…though it was more like pandering to rather than praying to. He is clearly unfamiliar with talking to anyone honestly.
Ha! Loved this quote. I often find myself thinking it when I have to put my foot down in certain situations at work… luckily I have an internal filter.
Flesh and Bone is another dynamic episode.
When Adama asks Starbuck to go to the other ship to interrogate Leoben, it struck me that they are still very much working through the trust issues they have. The Commander knows that she is the best person for the job, so it is a gesture on his part to show he’s working through his feelings while remaining professional.
Maybe too professional.
Maybe like the was programmed to be that professional
Maybe not.
I love the Leoben character though, very much the Philosopher Toaster. Able to use his double talk to get inside your head and tell you lies while all the while you don’t think you’re buying his B.S. but really he’s planted the seed in your mind, like he did convincing the President that Adama is a Cylon with just a single whispered sentence.
And the fact that he was able to project into her dreams lends more credence to my “Six is stuck all up in Baltar’s mind” theory.
Yes, unfortunate that we can’t be surrounded by nerds all the time
As a side note, Galaxy Rising, do you go to Dragoncon, seeing as you live in DragonCon Country?
It took nearly ten years for people to rediscover Star Trek in syndication. This is happening for BSG much faster. I’m glad BSG was syndicated first on Netflix instead of cable television.
Are you saying those inexpensive monster-of-the-week movies do better in the ratings than reruns?
Yes, the movies rate very well. Reruns of almost anything don’t do that well. And shows can vary a lot in how well they repeat vs not. For example, Star Trek: TNG always does pretty well in reruns to this day. BSG was never a strong rerun performer, however. - Craig Engler (Syfy) on twitter
We’ll how it performs on Netflix. Watch and learn Syfy.
No. It took off inside of five years after final cancellation. What really gave it a boost is that ratings started to take stock of age groups about that time, and Trek was popular among the desirable demographics.
I agree, though, that BSG et al. are finding their audience through Netflix, Hulu, etc.
This is very true, which is why a place like GWC is so important for all of us… without it, I would not have a place to go where I know people will understand me and my offhand comments.
I just moved up here a little over a year ago, although I didn’t make it to Dragon*Con this past time, but I will certainly be at the next one! Making sure I save up all my pennies. Definitely hoping some meet-ups get organized when the time comes.
Ah so very true, although I am blessed to have so many dorks that I call friends IRL.
The wife and I went this past year for the first time. Ah-Maze-Eng. Srsly. And as it stands now, we are planning on going next year as well.
I’m working on some of the more capable seeming ones… but it’s slow goings. muahaha.

And hooray! I’ve heard nothing but amazing things. Mr. Lister, Sir, my older brother, is also planning to go the next time around, crash on my couch to be sure, so we’ll have a good group already sounds like.
So I just watched ‘Tigh me up, Tigh me down’ (oh those clever wordsmiths) and I have an analogy.
Two days ago, I was forced to watch the first episode of Thundercats. Inside 60 seconds, I hated Snarf. I can feel the hatred all the way down to my kidney area.
I feel the same about Mrs. Tigh.
Godsdamnit! He was on the road to getting his (bleep my dad says) back in order and she comes giggling her way back.
Gahh!
Felt the same way at the time.
All I’ll say (all I’ll ever say) is keep watching.
