Caprica pilot (spoiler alert)

Whoa! I was just gonna mention that. We know he’s going in the suit. It’s gonna be great to see him in the suit. But…oh no…why’d ya do the Pepsi commercial version? Nnnooooooooooo!!!

But what if it were done WELL? We know Graystone will wind up in the goo. But how does he get there? Probably heart-wrenchingly (a word?..yeah I make 'em up). Graystone’s obsession puts him there. His creation puts him there. But I’m missing something, and that ingredient will make all the difference.

Zoe puts him there.

Yup. He’ll slowly realize the Zoe in the machine and will be more obsessed than ever to find a way to put her in a biological body. But that scene should be about 20 years down the road if I have my chronology correct…

I can see it now. The writer’s room. Scotch on the table and smoke billowing in the air, Someone says, “Hey remember when we jumped a year ahead? How 'bout 20?”

Finally! My study of ancient languages paid off! I’m about 100 times more proficient in Latin, but I recognized Ancient Greek when I heard it.

I just about cheered aloud (which would have startled everyone on the subway, I was watching on my iPod) when I saw Polly Walker’s name in the credits. And then again for William B. Davis. Boy, he’s gotten old… he just doesn’t look the same without a cigarette in his mouth.

BTW, Esai Morales (Joseph Adams/Adama) was in a movie with Edward James Olmos:

Plus wouldn’t it get pretty bloody boooooooring?

In screwed up logic this does make sense. This is not something that will happen in a season hopefully. More than likely this will be part of the end part of the series. What it will be probably is it will be a way for DG to interface better with his creations trying to fix what he has created. In doing so he will be part of and also trapped by this.

All of which has be laughing at myself. The series has yet to officially air and I’m speculating about how it ends.

Plus, we should also consider all of the potential spin-offs…

I think is ends with Dr Greystones “chldren” rebelling and driving a rag tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest…for a shining planet… known as Earth.

This kind of conversation is why I love this forum… you sparked a couple thoughts in regards to Kara:

1st: RDM chose to answer the Kara question, “God resurrected her as an instrument/messenger of his will.” Which is apparently ok, cause it’s God, after all. The action is not only divinely sanctioned, it’s a godsdamn miracle – literally. Why is it then ok for the One True God to resurrect one of his own, but immoral for Daniel Graystone to do so? Why isn’t Daniel’s act of resurrection a miracle? And why aren’t we as an audience asked to consider it miraculous? It’s hypocracy. And I’m not buying, “because Daniel’s not God.” I don’t think that’s a good enough answer – omnipotence does not imply omniscience. To me, the OTG is just another jealous deity, like our Old Testament, wanting to keep the power of life and death in his hands only. What God considers good, is not necessary what we consider good. Or, instructed to think is good.

2nd: “At what point is it not you?” I think memory plays a role… I like to think about how sleep and death are similar… how do you tell the difference? How do I know I am the same person when I wake up in the morning? Because I remember what happened to me yesterday? If I didn’t remember, would I still be me? Is that true of people that have amnesia… are they not the same person they were, even though they are in the same body as before?

Agreed… I like the word “backronym” for what that was.

Yes! Bill and Lee’s Sentimental-Drunk-Irish theme! I downed my glass of Bushmills, jumped onto my couch and waved my jacket around my head when I heard that.

and:

The boobs — fantastic. We should definitely have more of those. Just saying.

But seriously, it was startling, and yet not – it’s not difficult to imagine nudity finding a tasteful place in this show (although it never will) – it just reminds me why I like HBO and Showtime, and how frakin awesome it would be if Caprica was on one of those channels, instead of stupid SyFy. It’s feast or famine with those frakers, either incredibly good or incredibly lowbrow.

Just rented Caprica. Going to watch it tonight. Can’t wait.

Here’s my bold prediction: Greystone still has Tamara’s avatar in memory, and will somehow use it against Adams/a in a future episode.

Yeah, finally watched Caprica last week. Totally stunning and fascinating. I loved it.

So help me out on the end. Dr. Greystone downloads Zoe’s personality into “Larry”.
Larry says “Daddy” but falls down and goes boom.
Then Larry (I assume Larry/Zoe) does the shoot 'em test again and totally kicks SorryBarb wining the defense contract.
And then Larry/Zoe sits up from the table and calls her friend.

So here’s what I don’t understand: Does Dr. Greystoke know that Zoe did acutally sucessfuly transfer to Larry? He obviously knows that the 2nd Larry shoot 'em up went better.
I’m confused.

Zoe was put into a Larry bot, but I believe that it wasn’t the same one that was used for the weapons testing.

Yes, my impression was that it was a different Larry as well. And from what I saw, Greystone believes as of now that his daughter is lost, and the download into Larry failed. But it’s his plan to virtually reconstruct her again from scratch, as she originally did, I guess. Sometime in 2010.

Ah!!! Now I see. Thanks.

I thot it was the same Larry. Zoe being the clever girl was able to dupe her own death. As Tron showed, once you’re in the machine you have machine super-powers. Zoe may have been a computer genius in the real world but now she would be a computer god. She would easily be able to hide from daddy, while still residing in Larry. Think sentient rootkit virus.

Okay, now I’m confused again. That’s what I thot too, but AT Great and TG make a logical argument too.

I think we have to go with the download was successful and the prototype is the same one. this is how the Centorians got the idea of the “one true god”
I don’t know if Zoe is intentionaly hideing from daddy or just coming to terms with her ‘new’ body.
