Caprica pilot (spoiler alert)

I too thought it was the same Larry, but I hadn’t considered that the apparent ‘failure’ of the transfer of Zoe’s consciousness had been intentional. I thought that the data transfer had just been unstable and may have required time to reconstitute itself. Then again a little bit of conscious effort on Zoe’s part could explain why there was no backup copy in the mainframe. If she was conscious during the transfer maybe she could sense she was being copied, didn’t like the thought of being cloned by someone else, so she deleted the original copy???

Craprica! Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. I agree with, and meant to say, that the download WAS of course successful, Zoe’s definately in there and fully functional, but dad thinks he blew it and she’s gone.

As far as the prototype being the same unit as the one in the test room, that’s possible too, I’d have to watch again to get a better impression. At the time it didn’t register with me in any way that my memory retained.

I hadn’t considered the idea that Zoe caused the appearance of a malfunction to hide the successful DL from her dad. That’d be pretty brilliant! And I could totally see that happening.

Well, we know from years of Ron Moore messing with us, that that point could very well be intended to be “left to the imagination”.
No clarification one way or the other on the Commentary track, as far as I remember.

The painting in the background.

I tried to scan the forums w/out much luck:

Does this mean he’ll vanish like Starbuck 2.0?

Wow, nice catch! That’s gotta be an in-side joke by the crew. Very amusing…

Holy eagle eyes!!

Have you looked this over frame-by-frame? That’s dedication!

Damn.

Just ‘damn.’

Well, I guess it all had happened before…

holy. ok. uhh. im gonna go with a joke. i remember there being a few props (I can’t remember what now) that floated around the battlestar sets. Some decorations from kara’s mother’s apartment from maelstrom were also in the maelstrom’s oracles’s setup if i remember right… bottom line they havent made any way in the background set pieces like that super important before, and have not been above jokes or carelessness. (not that im saying putting the mandala there is careless at all.)

FTW…

I have now watched this movie three times and that never even bliped my radar…

<<<<<< I bow to you sir!!!

but there were some scenes worth it, IYKWIM.

The pic makes me think Graystone is going to vanish or be killed and return, that the same Plan is afoot here.

I finally got around to downloading this from iTunes (because Barnes and Noble thinks they should sell it for $26…boneheads)

Wow. Just, wow. They took some of the best ideas from BSG and some the unexplored ones regarding different colonies and wrapped them all together in an interesting exploration of self and consciousness. I didn’t see that one coming.

Just out of curiosity, what were you expecting?

Honestly, not much. I set my expectations very low for this. Besides the vague understanding it was going to deal with the creation of the Cylons I didn’t know anything about it.00

I too was blow away by Capricia. I actually had HIGH expectations for it, and it was better than thot.
If you can, go out and rent, borrow or steal the DVD. The Ron Moore /David Eick (and Jeff ?something) commentary track is interesting.

I liked it. Initially, I was a little let down that the One True God idea didn’t originate with the Cylonz. But I can live with it. Lookin’ good. Series NOW, please!

At the risk of nitpicking: If my daughter were electronic, I’d make a few backup copies, and keep them in a few places. I know the plot required it, but still…

I thought this was a head-slapper too, but the previous discussion by Frakkintalos and THX1966 has be believing she deleted herself from the original disk to avoid having part of her under his control in his hard drive…

ahhh… I could buy that.

if she was in the device and the device was scrambled how does it happen she reboots? BTW, i was expecting the end to be as it was, but still found that phone call creepy

OK, finally picked this up at B&N. I will say it has my attention.

They eye color seems to be the giveaway. Originally yellow, once Zoe got into the bot it was red. The successful Larry was red-eyed, so Zoe was in there, at least to some degree. That seems to be confirmed by her showing up in Ol’ Red Eye later and phoning Lacey (who is not, as it turns out, Groupie Number Two from Dr. Horrible. But that was just my own confusion.)

We may have been too hasty christening “Larry.” “Lauren” might be more approriate.
