so yeah, total surprise on my part, I honestly thought certain things were going to happen which well… didn’t. I wasn’t being mean and look at it this wat pernnfan, you do get a greater sense of tension and anticipation from waiting for the next episode, you can continue to burn you way through SPn and Dexter.

As to the episode itslfm I feel my Adriana has covered most of the major plot points, some nice notes regarding Ellen but tbh I don’t have a great deal else to say, apart form apologies on making her think something else was gonna happen.

Only one comment reallym the blood dripping off Boomer and hitting the deck nicely echoed the blood off Chief Tyroll when Tigh smacked him.

that’s all I gotta say I guess, we’re also still watching lost girl, supernatural and DExter, I’ll add more shows as and when we get time.

Well, her Boomer acting in season one (knowing herself might be a Cylon, and could live with it) was already pretty great. Her Caprica Boomer (while it’s still appropriate to call her so) might be a little flat. But she’s hot so I didn’t mind :stuck_out_tongue:

Some of Grace best work took place in season 2. And consider how the show actually aired, I also consider these “early episodes” of BSG. Especially in the upcoming episodes that pernfann is about to get into.

There are simply impressive acting in later seasons, but unfortunately she plays such a minor part of those seasons…

eye’s streamign and an barely se the screen so please forgive any typoes.

With a break for me to attend my friend’s wedding we both dragged our sick selve in front of a viewing device last night and watched Season 2 - episode 5 the farm.

Primarily a starbuck episode, we see an enganced look at the cylons breeding program, their desperate attempt to “be fruitful and multiply” (like the several copies of sharon aren’t multiple enough?).

The dr character is kind of creepy, I did let slip that he was a cylon early on (sorry pernnfan) but she noticed something off about him (as did starbuck).

Some comments overall, will starbuck frak anything male with legs? seriously she just met anders and boom, straight in to bed with him.

Also i guess i’ve been watching too much hbo/showtime stuff, in my universe and experience, if you’ve had sex with someone you don’t generally pause to put your underwear back on before falling asleep!:confused::eek:

Starbuck also seems to develop feelings for Anders awfully quickly, the tender moment before she leaves on the cylon heavy raider being a prime example, I hate to critique and I presume they are saying “in times of war things happen suddenly and emotions run hot” but it felt wrong for me. On the flip side it was nice to see an emotionally weak and vulnerable starbuck, in the farm and when she had no weapons handy. Still she woman’d up and clearly remembered things from her previous fight with six, she snuck up behind this model and clobbered her with a fire extinguisher, go Kara!

I’m not going to comment on the “b” arc (with adama and apollo and president roslin) need to leave something for Adriana to post about.

Like I’ve said before although this thread is primarily us working our way through the show, feel free to add your own comments about the episodes, we try and get roughly one episode a day in but average around five a week if you want to keep pace.

As I told Phaze, there was just something… creepy… about that doctor, so yeah, even if he hadn’t let it slip that the guy was another model of modern toaster, I wouldn’t have been surprised to have learned it.

On a side note, since I couldn’t resist commenting on this, even if we are both sick as dogs… I want into Phaze’s world, where the sex is good enough that you DON’T bother with putting undergarments on again before passing out lol.

The ‘b’ arc… Tries to remember what she’s supposed to say See, this is what happens when we’re both so out of our heads with colds that we were doing well to get the episode cued up and watched!

Adama’s warm reception back to CIC was no shock at all, though he and Tigh were both deeply shocked that nearly a third of the colonial fleet followed Roslin when she jumped away in the Astral Queen.

There will be no episode watched tonight, I’m afraid, since we’re both still under the weather. I seem to be on the upswing side of it, but poor Alan is still in the rocky thick of things, so to speak. So yeah, maybe tomorrow folks!!

And yes, Phaze, I’m sending ‘feel better’ vibes your way even as I type this!

BTW, if you ever get to to meet the actor who plays Simon, Rick Worthy at a convention, be sure to talk to him. The guy is a lot of fun and a bigger sci-fi fan then many people in attendance.

Home pt 1

Okay, who can’t remember the anticipatory pulsing sound played during the start of each episode? You know, during the “Cylons were created by man, etc” part? Well, Phaze has his own version. He beeps. As in literally sits there and says the word ‘beep’ in time and pace with the sound on the show. Why do I mention this? Simple, because he SAID I was going to mention it in this post, and I wouldn’t want to make a liar of him would I? Didn’t think so. (Totally unrelated is the personal enjoyment I get out of teasing him about doing it every episode :D)

On to the notes!!

It was a really good episode, though we watched it in two halves. Just goes to show us not to be ill, up at 1 am phaze time, and trying to watch an ep of BSG!! We finished it today, and since I already knew it was titled ‘pt 1’ I wasn’t surprised to be cliff hung a bit.

Zareck spends most of this episode wearing a leather jacket, rather resembles a bomber jacket like those that were frequently worn by fighter pilots. Just seemed to me that it was a subtle nod to the actor’s history as Apollo

When Kara gets back from Caprica in the heavy raider, Lee kisses her. - I took one look at that scene and told Phaze that he wouldn’t be greeting her that way if he’d known about what she’d been up to with Anders back on Caprica. I mean, just look at the way he reacted to her shagging Gaius, and Gaius isn’t even halfway a decent guy! Stands to reason that Lee’s jealousy would trip big time over her hooking up with a guy like Anders.

I couldn’t help but laugh after Helo and Sharon appeared, when Lee has his gun in Sharon’s face, ready to shoot her, and Roslin is telling them to all calm down. Helo says “Should we do what the nice lady says” (I’d forgotten that he’d not been around for her installation into office until I heard Lee’s response) “She’s the president of the colonies, moron” I laughed. A lot.

In the brig, when Lee pulls a gun on Sharon, Kara pushes it away and tells him there doesn’t need to be any more of that going on today. Like he needs to be told that?? He was the one pulling the gun on Sharon the first time around, after Kara had just docked the raider

Lee walks into the room and takes Starbuck’s pyramid ball and starts talking to her. It was kind of like he was trying to understand how much going back to Caprica had upset and shaken her, but she just gets pissed at him. (and yes, that is the American pissed not the Irish one :p). I have to wonder if she gets so mad at him because she KNOWS he wouldn’t be that patient or understanding with her if he’d known about Anders. Honestly, at this stage, she seems to be torn between Lee and Anders.

So Adama chose a new CAG, good for him… or maybe not so good for him? I mean, the guy takes a couple of Viper pilots out on manuevers, and because he isn’t paying attention, nearly gets one of them killed. THEN he is doing a refueling mission, and there’s a collision? He should have called an abort to the fueling mission several minutes before Adama stepped in and did if for him.

And my last comment… on Kobol, when they are being ambushed by the Cylons, Lee sees Sharon go running off, and he chases her, probably thinking she led them into a trap and was trying to escape. Much to his surprise, she finds a heavy artillery guy and takes out a Cylon, thereby saving his live. His response? “You’ve got to be frakking kidding me” Loved it!! And now, the floor is open for feedback, or for Alan’s response :wink:

so, home part one, pernnfan has already covered a considerable amount of this stuff already so I’ll comment on the bits that I noticed.

Nice bit with Lee and Starbuck where he lets slip that he loves her, I think he meant in a platonic, nay brotherly kind of way but maaan does she rib him mercislessly for it, not that he doesn’t deserve it and perhaps, as was pointed out above, she’s being all defensive over the “Met anders, frakked him randomly and now really really fell for him” kinda way.

That’s all I gotta say n stuff will post about home part two after we watch it.

Home part two:
I shall subtitle this episode: the redemption of sharon (well caprica sharon anyways).
So, lots of aciton upon Kobol (wonder if that’s a reference to the programming language) we see Tom Zerek conspiring with the guy who plays Dexter’s dad, remarkable (but creepy) similarities in the way he gives Zerek advice to the way he gives Dexter advice in the show (despite being you know, dead).

IT’s very nicely played sharon implies that she will go along with the dexterdad plan put turns on him in the end, i figured he’d get killed, as I said ti Adriana, Zerek never takes action himself, he always uses others to take action for him.

Some other nice moments in this episode, Adama looks very relaxed in combats, sitting on a damp log, looking totally at his ease, the slow clap which adama leads at the end for president roslin, niiiice.

no “B” arc in this ep and no Colnel Tight either (Apart form at the start) Cheif tyroll is developing nicely though.

I shall leave the comments about Baltar and Six to Adriana.

For reasons I’m not quite clear on (and am not sure I want to be :D) Alan thinks that my thoughts about naked Six would be more entertaining than his… bold Phaze… (and yes, bold in the Irish sense of the word)

There might not have been a B arc in this episode, but I thought it was hilarious that Six now has Baltar convinced that he’s crazy. And what’s going to mess with his head even more than the lack of a chip?? How could his own delusion have known about the baby that Sharon is supposedly carrying?

I say supposedly because she’s a Cylon, it’s my first run through the show, and I don’t trust those toasters farther than I can throw them!!

As I pointed out to Alan, Zerek doesn’t have to take action himself, he has an entire space ship of criminals that adore him to do the dirty work!

The most movie part about this episode for me is when Chief went to see Sharon and Helo… the hurt and confusing in his eyes…

Final Cut

Pretty much at the start of this episode Tigh’s mirror is marked with a message in red, “From the darkness you must fall”, and you see Ellen all upset about it. Alan’s thought was that she could have written it in a drunken stupor. My thought is that she could have written it in a sober moment. As we find out later, it wasn’t Ellen at all, but still, I wouldn’t have put it past her!!

Kara showed a different side to her personality by quoting poetry. Even Lee was surprised that she was so familiar with the quote. And really?? Who didn’t laugh when she started begging Lee if she could be a suspect now?

Baltar’s walking down the passageway and he sees Lucy Lawless’s D’Anna. Just from the way that he watches her, you can tell he wants to shag her. On a sidenote, as I pointed out to my Phaze, I never use to use the word ‘shag’ before I started talking to him. I think he’s corrupting me.

I hate Ellen Tigh

Very nice move on D’Anna’s move, hiding the tape from Adama. Of course, her intentions and reasons for doing so become clear at the end of the episode.

I literally laughed at Gaius when the two Cylon raiders showed up and his interview was cut short. He was so anxious to HAVE the interview, and when he got it, but then immediately lost it, he was almost BEGGING her to come back.

I loved Adama’s comment that D’Anna had put a human face on the guardians of the fleet.

And my final comment for this episode is… D’Anna is a Cylon??? I seriously didn’t see that coming. When we saw her at the end of the episode, I thought she was a human that had chosen to work with the Cylons. It wasn’t until my Alan pointed it out that I made the connection, and once I did, there was a verbal explosion of shock on my end. And now, it’s Phaze’s turn to comment

Ahh final cut, more observations on Adriana’s observations than anything else, she seemed surprised to see Lucy LAwless blonde (after the iconic role with her as the black haired, high pitched yelling, circle blade throwing warrior princess). We both Agreed that Lucy looked younger as a blonde :P.

I did, as she kindly points out, have to let her know that D’anna was in fact, a frakking cylon. I belive she missed the line about losing two raiders in order to transmit the images back to the fleet. Her reaction was suitably shocked though.

I cannot wait for the reaction she gives when the seventh cylon is revealed (no spoilers re gender of this person please, may give something away).

A much different episode to the ones we watched so far and the little preview but has a seriously scary number of cylon ships.

so I suppose two stories here, the after effects of the cylon virus start to seriously affect the Battlestar’s systemsand of coruse we see how adama is forced to trust the sharon who was a different model to the one who shot Adama, it definitely went to a very happy place at the end we got a win, when Sharon’s virus disabled all the cylon raiders and the vipers shot the frak out of them (a waste of ammo in my opinion) I felt like punching the air in Joy.

Pluys we also see the redemtoin of the chief, he felt totally confused about the fact that what he regarded as “his” sharon was clearly in love with Helo, it also brings up the question of how much bleed you get between different instnaces of the same model, are they twins, closer? is ther a periodic memory update between instances so one feels what the others feel.

I’ll leave out comments about construction of the stealth viper, need to have something for pernnfan to type about after all.

Be a few days before we watch another ep I’m away form tomorrow.
