And so it begins......

Wow… really, wow…

Yes, I made notes on Kobol pt 2, and yes I have lots to say about it, but wow… and damn you Phaze for not preparing me for this. Yes, I know it was intentional, no I’m not really mad. But Damn.

On to my notes…

In the previous episode, Kaylee seemed rather nervous about flying… and who can blame her when the Raptor she is in crashes in flames???

I thought it was rather poetic that Gaius wasn’t really responding to the pilot trying to talk him into moving out of the Raptor, but when Head Six showed up, he responded almost immediately. In other words, Gaius would walk through fire for Six… awwww

When Adama asked for Roslin’s resignation, her answer was an unmitigated ‘No’. No apologies, not hesitation, just No. You have to admire her for standing by her convictions.

You don’t have feelings, you have software - Helo. Wow, could you be any harsher?? Yes, I guess you can since he followed that up immediately with telling her he didn’t love her, he had loved who he thought she was.

Sharon tells Helo she’s pregnant - Other than to keep him from killing her, can’t think of a reason why she might lie about this. But still, no sooner did she say that then Phaze says “And now you know why I didn’t answer you several episodes ago when you asked if Cylons could get pregnant” Honestly, I’ve been expecting this announcement since the two of the frakked in the first place.

Does Roslin ever get new clothes? She mentioned early on that she only had three outfits, but she always looks so well pressed and clean, even more so than the military half the time.

Six in a modest dress - Yes Phaze, you do spend quite a few moments where her breasts take up most of the shot, but that doesn’t change the fact that the dress itself is remarkably modest for Head Six.

Boomer certainly seemed to know her way around a basestar

Boomer tells her copilot that if she’s not back in five minutes “this” should be done. I don’t remember what the “this” was, but it’s irrelevant to this comment. The comment is that right after she said that, Phaze pops up with “If more than one of me is back in five minutes, panic!!” I literally had to pause the episode I was laughing so hard. Also, wanted to make sure I quoted him correctly.

The inside of the basestar. Phaze called it extremely organic. I called it extremely gross.

When Six and Starbuck are fighting, Starbuck loses her grip on the gun, but not the arrow? And what the frak is that arrow made out of anyway? Not only does it survive a nuclear attack, but a rather extreme fight scene as well??

Also, all that fighting, Starbuck is a mess, but right up until the end, Six is neat and clean?? Had to love Phaze’s comment when Six is skewered “That Cylon is toast”

And, the final comment of the night, yet another one that had me laughing so that I had to pause the show, when Boomer is confronting like fifteen Sharons, Phaze says “Well Sharon, guess you found yourself”

Over all an amazing episode, even if Boomer did shoot Adama seconds before the end of the season. Talk about a cliff hanger!!

I usually watched these episodes on DVD after buying them on my exercise bike (timed out perfect for 45 minute episodes)…I damn near fell off my bike when I saw that moment…then my next thought was… thank God I only gotta go out and buy Season 2 (which I did almost immediately) and not wait the 6-8 months that you guys did when it first aired!! I’d have spazzed out!

Boy, these were some of my favorite episodes. I got to give some love to The Hand of God, which is the episode which I decided that Battlestar was my new favorite show. It still might be my favorite episode, very underrated by the fans I my humble opinion (Outside of this forum at least).

on the hand of god episode I said at the tiem as we watched it, does Gaius really need a reason to pump up his ego?

As for Kobol’s last gleaming, part two, Pernfann asked me if there was any more “Sharon gun action”, I kept schtum, didn’t want to give anything away, and you know what? it was sooo worth it. Poor pernfann’s reaction to adam getting shot, pretty much rendered speechless for a while.

On a personal note, chatting with pernfann has replaced alcohol in my life, we skyped for 7 hours last night, workig our way through lost girl (half an ep) bsg (see above) supernatural (series one ep five) more lost girl and finally Dexter.

I felt no desire to get drunk at all, this s, for me, a fairly large step forward. So thank you @pernfann for transforming my alcohol nights in to chatting with you nights
Phaze
on the “I cannot, however sleep more than six hours in a row, suggestions please?” ID

Dear Phaze,

I’m enjoying these skype sessions every bit as much as you are. The fact that it has replaced your need/desire for alcohol of an evening is just an added (and major) bonus!!

And yes, I was pretty speechless when Boomer shot Adama, though the question I had asked was more in relation to her trying to kill herself than to her trying to kill someone else. I’ve learned that any time Phaze refuses to answer a question, it generally means that whatever I just asked IS relevant in some fashion. I could ask “Is Starbuck’s hair blond” and if he refuses to answer, the color of her hair is going to be important later on lol.

Of course, now that you’ve said that, he won’t answer something just to throw you off. :stuck_out_tongue:

and now we come to the season two opener, Adama critcially wounded, starbuck and helo on caprica (along wih an apprently pregnant sharon model) and tight put in charge.

I think we see three arcs here, the first one being the (poor) reaction of Saul to being in command, the second being Starbuck dealig with the Helo/Caprica sharon situation and the third being the chief tyrell (who’s really coming in to is own here) on Kobol.

firstly, tigh executing an emergency jump, but oopsie, Gaeta forgot to transmit the co-ordinates, we’ve lost the fleet, even more importantly, we’ve left the frakking dr on another ship .

We getto nriefly see a young tigh and Bill (with 70s porn 'tache) after the war but before he reenters the fleet, some nice touches there, Saul’s initial panic, alo the truely bad idea of networking the computers, still it worked out in the end…

Moving to Kobol, tyrell’s “handling” of the lt was excelent, of course I don’t need to tell @pernfnn that, she is a military brat and ncos have ben handling lt’s since the dawn of time. I id omment bout the guy the lt initially ent back as “looks like a red shirt there”, I was right I guess.

so an interesting ep, we still have our three groups of people in differing locations, I’ll close with Starbucks final comment.

“Bitch stole my ride”.
Phaze
on the “yay, a decent amount of sleep gotten, off to see green lantern today” ID

Frak it, I really am going to have to start taking notes on every episode. Sleep seems to mess with my ability to remember what I wanted to say about the episode. Sigh.

Phaze is going to have something to say about my less than stellar response to his post, I just know he is.

I have to admit, it cracked me up when Cally woke Gaius up and told him that they were moving, and that it would be great if he could carry something this time!

The contempt in everyone’s voices when they referred to what they now know is Cylon Boomer was a very nice touch. It was realistic to the situation, aggravated by the fact she’d just attacked the Old Man.

I liked the fact that Starbuck immediately doubted that Sharon was pregnant. I honestly have no idea if she is or not, but I’m glad that SOMEONE isn’t taking her at her word.

Phaze mentioned just today that he was going to start telling me what happens so that I’d never know if it was going to happen or if he was making it up. I promptly informed him that if he told me what was going to actually happen, even once, it would be a spoiler, which is so against his nature that I wouldn’t believe him if he DID tell me lol.

So, this has been my lackluster response to the season opener, and yes, I shall start taking notes every episode

I just have to say, I love Grace Park’s acting. Much of what made BSG season 1 great was Grace’s acting. I’ve just watched Hawaii Five-0 season 1, and every time Grace gets emotional in the show, my eyes water up…

She really is what connected BSG to me emotionally.

Season two, episode two. (Side note, Phaze DID have a reaction to my response, it was just a verbal one as opposed to a typed one)

In his assessment of yesterday’s episode, Phaze mentioned my understanding of the coddling needed when dealing with the lt. Let me just say, I was raised by an NCO, so yeah, the idea of using kid gloves with the COs (commissioned officers, not commanding lol) is not a new concept to me.

At the beginning of the episode, Billy and D meet up in the hallway and she lays into him for helping the President plan a mutiny aboard the Galactica. Phaze commented about how harsh she was, to which my response was “But she’s right”

When Lee and the group of nuggets are walking through the corridors, with flashlights in hand, I remember thinking that the guy in front really ought to pay attention to where he is going. I was right. Not 30 seconds later, he’s being sliced and diced by a toaster model.

how can you not love Lee when he tells the Marines that they are going “toaster shopping”??

Points to Starbuck when she tells Helo that “Your girlfriend is from a LOVELY family”. She really doesn’t cut him any slack for having ran around with Sharon for months on end.

Sidenote: why can’t I shake this nagging feeling that Starbuck of all people is going to wind up being a Cylon model? I mean, really, we only know 4 of the 12 models (Leoben, Six, Sharon, and that reporter guy from the miniseries), so in theory anyone could be a Cylon without knowing it. Boomer was, after all.

“Tigh is experienced fighting the Cylons. He’s not completely useless, he just occasionally loses the fleet” - Phaze

“I’m getting a bad feeling about this place” - Gaius Really? REALLY??? You’re just NOW getting a bad feeling about this place???

When the Chief’s man is dying, and the medic person is talking about they can spare him a painful death by shooting him up with some drug, I told Phaze that there were other ways to spare him a painful death. To which he said “Only cost a round to do so” Harsh? Yes. What I was insinuating? Most definitely!!!

So, dear Phaze, the ball is now back in your court!!

That’s so interesting. Grace’s acting felt to me like the weakest performance through most of S1. But by S3 she was just mesmerizing to watch! Her skills improved noticeably and really added to the quality of the show and the Boomer/Sharon character arcs.

Starbuck a Toaster!!??? All I will say to that is you will have more questions later.

She connected with me in other ways, giggedy

Yeah…that’s true…

Yeah…that wait was really bad.

Really cool you guys are getting into it…

so episode two,

it has been pointed out to tme that I have not typed a reply yet, so here goes (blame the 7 AM gym start and a busy day for me not replying so far).

As @pernnfan said, some nice scenes with the ever adorable miss thrace, I’m going to hit on something she didn’t mention, which is, Kara’s apartment. We didn’t get to see it beforehand and boy, is she a pig, makes my own (slightly) messy place seem a frakking hotel room by comparison.

It was nice to see Helo finally relax in her apartment, plus of course we might note this season is the launch of
a) the credit’s sequence which I remember form the show (which is let’s face it the one for the following 3 series)

b) the number of people left alive count, which I’ll be keeping an eye on.

a little final note before we watch tonight’s episode, I liked the scene where head Adama seems to drown the baby, it’s quite disturbing.

That’s all for now, will post again when we’re done.
Phaze
on the “I am being teased at every opportunity by certain ladies, you know whom you are” ID

Season two - episode three, to live and die in Kobol (hey it’s my title

I’ll take this as a military study on the reaction of NCOs to idiot Lieutenants.

The LT is respected, even by chief tyrell who clearly has a faaar more realistic grasp on the situation than the poor, idiot, officer boy, who keeps going on about “graf 1” and “graf two” like he’s in officer training school.

For me telling the specilist to “go create a distraction and draw the cylon’s fire” I mean, what the frak? at least he should send the less cute girl over there to her highly probable death.

And (I cannot belive I’m typing this but) go Baltar, he shot the idiot LT so that chief tyrell didn’t have to.

The deconstruction os Saul Tigh, when put under pressure, the man just collapses, falls in to drink bad habits (i.e.Ellen) rants about the rpesident, the press corps, the quorom of twelve then , finally ,despite his statement that “the old man hated the idea of MArtial LAw” when faced with a suddenly coherent president, he goes ahead and frakking well declares it anyway!.

Finally, in a fairly dark episode there’s a wonderfully funny note when Tyrell is madly shooting at the cylons and next thing BIG BOOM and he loks in classic puzzlement at the gun, then hears the raptor behind him, definite lol moment.

PErnfann, I lave the floor open to you my dear.
Phaze
on the “capital typo on herself name but screw it, this post goes up unedited, darn it” ID

Okay, here goes lol.

I remembered to take notes this go 'round so maybe this response will be a bit more cohesive than the last couple have been.

I laughed so hard when Tigh asked the doctor about Adama’s chances of survival, and the doctor said he didn’t know, he wasn’t a psychic.

Okay, it’s a well established fact that Colonel Tigh is an alcoholic. But these people are on limited EVERYTHING. So what I want to know is, when does he run out of alcohol???

“Be a man Gaius” - Six. You know, I still despise Six, but the more of this show I see, the more I think I might like her too. How odd is that??

Ellen Tigh when she visits Roslin in the brig… Ellen as an altruist??? Gee, wonder why I just don’t buy into that theory

I agree with Phaze about the lt. As I told @phazedout “He really is an officer… he’s stupid!”

I also applauded Baltar when he shot the lt, though later, when Head Six tells him that she will be his conscience, I had to laugh at that. Head Six as a conscience? Can we say bad idea??

That’s actually addressed, indirectly, later on.

Resistance - S02.E04?

Well, this was certainly an interesting episode, made only more so by the dramatic way it ended, but more about that in a bit. First, my notes…

I’ve commented about this before, and I will doubtlessly comment about it again in the future - seems like Tigh can’t go five minutes without a drink of some sort…

I was amused that Six kept telling Baltar that the word ‘toaster’ was a racist term to use when talking about the Cylons.

The first time you see Ellen Tigh in the episode, she is wrapped around Saul, but shortly after that she’s manipulating him into doing what she wants him to do. When that happened, Phaze said “Can I just smack her?” To which I instantly replied “PLEASE”

Not two minutes later Phaze referred to Ellen as Saul’s very own Head Six

Guess Lee’s promise not to free Roslin or instigate a rebellion on the Galactica was just a front so he could get out of the brig? Because he’s certainly not hesitating to take such actions now.

“Software doesn’t have feelings” - Tyrol. I know I commented when Helo said this, and now the Chief is saying it too. What I want to know is if Sharon is getting tired of hearing it yet lol.

It seems to me like Lee had an awful lot of people in on the escape plan, from Duwalla, Gaeta, even the Raptor pilot…

Ellen Tigh… grrrrrrrr… she tells Saul that when push came to shove, he got shoved by Lee… I think someone should shove HER… right out an airlock

And now we discuss the end of the episode. Sharon getting shot by Cally. Phaze seemed surprised that I wasn’t shocked that this happened, but my philosophy was “well it’s not like there’s not a half dozen more of her”. In reality there are far more than that, but the point still stands. THEN Phaze tells me “Just wait, it gets better” I looked at the timer on the episode and said “It gets better in this episode?” and he says “Just wait, you’ll see” Fifteen seconds later, the credits roll. THEN he says “oh, that’s right, what I’m thinking of is in another episode!” Another episode??? Of all the days to build my hopes up and leave me hanging, he picks the episode on the day before he leaves town??? Which, for those that were wondering, means it’ll be next Monday before I get to see the next episode!!!

(I would like to take this chance to acknowledge the fact that Phaze did not do this to me on purpose, but I simply could not ignore the chance to gripe… just a bit :D)

HaHa! We got you back for being able to watch the next episode after Adama got shot without waiting months!

Ohhhhh, that mean :’(
