Remind me to get you your own personal dark cloud for you birthday. Just so you can cheer up.
…sigh. That’s not even remotely true. The stories aren’t recycled, using the same character they used back then and having it be a bad thing is absolutely absurd. Next you’re gonna complain that Clark Kent is still superman. Hey he came back from the dead so all that’s going on with him now is just a rehash of 75-85 right? right? /nudge nudge
Comic Book Geek Fiiiiiiight!!!
[simpsons comic book guy ON] Do not look at my Ultimate Spider Man Issue #1…you will cause it to depreciate in value [/simpsons comic book guy OFF]
Neeeeerd Fiiiiiight!
Runs to find his launchable viper toy
LOL ok ok I give up. Just so sick of the negativity here. Enjoy it for what it is. I’m just glad they kept Kyle and got a half way decent way to get Hal back.
I’m very cheerful! I got Batman and Robin 2 today, that’s some good comics!
Not at all, I mean, if Superman was rehashing the late 70’s/early 80’s comics there’d be Krypto the Superdog, Supergirl, millions of Kryptonians, the City of Kandor, Flamebird, Nightwing and The Guardian in the books right now…
/wink wink.
I was right about the 90’s coming back too, all the re-launched Ultimate Comics are getting hologram/foil covers for their first issues. Put on the shouldr pads, pouches and massive guns people! It’s time to get EXTREME!
Although, I have to say, i’d rather have the silver age back than the early 90’s Image style books, Sue Storm should never have a boob window!
Cool, best to agree to disagree on Hal, can we at least agree that Kyle has an ugly costume? Poor dude’s never had a good one!
I got my first Darkest Night comic today, Green Lantern #43.
Not sure about the story, I know about Black hand of course, but I can’t comment on the rest of it, as it’s the intro to the big event, it doesn’t really feel BIG to me yet, but we’ll have to see where it goes.
The list of Dead people is interesting,
Al Pratt (Golden age Atom) was reduced to dust, is he going to be a storm of particles with a ring inside? That would look fantastic with the right artist!
Sue and Ralph Dibney’s bodies are certainly dead, but their souls are still working the world, Ralph’s shouldn’t be accesable as it’s in Fates tower, is it just the corpses that come back or do they retain the souls at all?
Ted Kord is a difficult one, I think there’s a body, but there is also a different Ted Kord in the world now, the one from Booster Gold, and I can’t think that’s going to go unreferenced.
Max Lord’s brain was removed by Checkmate to be the CPU for Lord Eye in Final Crisis, maybe he’ll be a brainless Black Lantern? A bit of funny for the JLI fans in the world?
Vic Sage coming back will be interesting, if only for the effect that’ll have on Renee.
From the People that came back pages, Green Arrow’s body was atomised, and Barry’s was reduced to energy, so, I’m interested to see what happens there.
As for the art, Doug Mahnke is one of my favorite artists, his JLA run really struck me as strong, and Frankenstein and Final Crisis showed how dynamic he reall can be, but the colouring in GL#43 seemed muddy and left a lot of the details I’ve come to expect from him washed out. The colours in this issue are a little too painterly to work amazingly well, at least in my eyes, but that can be put doen to them not having the art team working fully as a crew yet.
Watch out I scratch!
I agree with you on Kyle, that guy can’t get any respect in there. As far as the intro I see your points. I know they have to get it out of the way but not the best they have done either.
I will say this I look forward to the next installment. If this was a movie. I’d be with the popcorn and soda loving every moment of it.
See we can all play nice… That is till we get out the pan-galactic getto blaster.
Really? I thought 43 was FANTASTIC. Seriously, very excellent. Lemme just say one thing “My first kiss”
It was just ok, I think it’s hard for me to take black hand as a bit-time threat, he’s been a joke for a very long time now.
I worked out what i didn’t like about the colouring, it was too shiny, like someone got a new airbrush and went a bit crazy.
I like the Hal Jordan stories…but when we get into the nine million different lanterns battling it out in other planets…I start to get lost. I need a flow chart maybe? Looking forward to the new First Flight Cartoon though
OK, Blackest Night #1…
I did not like it. The story is very thin, but can be excused by the fact it’s a first issue and iss etting up for the rest of the story. The continued worship of Hal Jordan continues.
The Graveyard scenes were a bit rubbish, especially as they’ve Johnsconned where people are buried and the like.
Ted Kord’s body was cremated, his monument was in the JL Sanctury, with the rest of the league, they better not mess up Blue Beetle!
Oh, they messed up Ralph and Sue, good-oh.
Finally, AGAIN with the death of Hawkman? Really?
Roll on issue 2, it can only get better.
…RUEUGRUGRUGRUG hater
I’ve re-read it a few times since my initial review, and having had time to consider it… I think it’s rubbish.
Next issue I’ll read it first so that the good comics in my pile don’t raise my hopes too much.
…What are your ahem “good comics”
This week I got the lovely hardbacks of Skydoll and Batman R.I.P., REBELS, Booster Gold, The Boys, Buffy and Fantastic 4.
Booster Gold and F4 were also terrible this week, I’d put Blackest Night as worse than Booster, but 10 times better than F4 (Why do marvel let Millar and Hitch take on books if they aren’t going to finish them?)
Skydoll is a lovely piece of work, anything short of Batman And Robin is going to pale in comparison!
None of those are new this week though. Did you pick up anything that’s monthly and came out this week? DMZ 43 for example or Incognito 5?
Wednesday Comics! (Yes I know it’s weekly, but man, there is only 1 weak link in that! (Wonder Woman) it’s the best idea DC has had since 52)
Deadpool (Bullseye Vs Deadpool! IT’S COMEDY GOLD!)
X-Factor (Good, but wandering dangerously close to being dropped)
Forgot that I picked up 2 weeks of comics this week, and included last weeks. Tcht, my brain sometimes!
