I teared up too and backed up and watched her cross the screen again…about 5 times. And loved the original theme music as she passed!
Los Angeles Times and CBR interviewed David Eick today. Not The Cancelled Syfy Back Door Pilot! he insists. Esai Morales to return as Joseph Adama should they get to do more episodes.
“For those asking, if Blood & Chrome does well on Machinima (and when it airs on Syfy and hits DVD), we hope to be able to make more of it.” - The Engler of Craigisms @Syfy
and
“…we both have weeks to help promote it vs 1 hour on 1 premiere night so let’s make the most of our extended opportunity :)” @Syfy
In other words, every view will be counted until it broadcasts, at which point a single overnight Nielsen rating will be added to the measure of its success. Hope, hope, everywhere! Can I get a scoop of ice cream with that pie?
Amazon has pre-orders up for a very aggressively priced $24.49 (yup, that is the official box art per CBR): Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome (Unrated Edition -Two-Disc Combo Pack: Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + UltraViolet)
High-Def Digest: “13 Deleted Scenes (including 7 exclusive to Blu-ray) and Blood & Chrome: Visual Effects”
You go Universal!
NOOOOO!!!
Machinima has diasbled the view for us poor slobs in Australialand.
A pox on your house, Mr. Machinima!
I just may have to watch a few more times to keep that viewing count up. I would love to see this lead into something more, whether it be a new series or even several straight to video or online segments. So far so good.
If you can, do this from different places…work…school…library…friends, family houses…making those hits as UNIQUE hits is key!
That aside…it felt WEIRD seeing someone else give out the orders on ol’BSG…and Adama young n naieve…wooowwww
I’m VERY intrigued to see where this space debris takes them…any idea how often the new episodes will be spoiled? I’m hoping its a weekly event!
New episodes premiere each Friday with the finale on November 30th - (official) Facebook: Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome
Replica seller ANOVOS is tagging B&C bloopers and easter eggs for fun. Luke Pasqualino wore his double tank backwards in episode one, abruptly fixed in the second although he never left the hangar bay.
The CIC really felt a bit different than on BSG. Maybe it was just that they emphasized the upper levels more. Not a complaint, I’m sure many things could have happened to that room in the years between.
The CIC looked very impressive. Maybe the CIC in BSG was more a museum piece, functional but not battle-ready. Or the Galactica took one hell of a pounding and the CIC had to be rebuilt during her service life.

I think they did that to give it more of a look of awe, as any kid fresh off the boat would do when standing in the middle of the CIC for the first time…but I’m willing to accept that since this was the meat and bones of the last ever prolonged war in the Colonies the ships were more in battle mode, instead of just civil defense mode like it was in the (can we call it the “original”) series?
Episode 1 is nearing 1.5 million views. That’s just over a third the audience of Machinima’s most successful original series Forward Unto Dawn but it squarely beats the rest of Prime’s offerings. I’m guessing 2-3 million is the sweet spot for Machinima ordering new episodes from Syfy/Universal, if that’s possible.
I better watch from work today on that network. On a side note, Forward Unto Dawn was great. If they keep these types of media offerings, the network will have to start looking out for these sites.
A worthwhile read:

Just watched Ep 1. Ok good so far. Next up Ep 2.

Episodes 3 & 4 in the same 17:30 video this week nearing the run time of a half hour television show minus commercials, recaps, credits and bumpers. This seems to be a direct response to commenter complaints about not wanting to watch a mere ten minute short weekly, and the noticeable drop off in episode 2’s audience.
Two noticeably distinct Bear McCreary scores. Me want. So I’m thinking the dogfight with the raiders is an cheeky unabashed homage to Star Wars… manning the gun, weaving in the asteroid field, the Death star run… etc. An introduction to another totally different Colonial fleet. This is what 2000 CG shots look like. Wow.
The spun up twin pistons of a battlestar’s FTL drive are seen for the second time, the first appearance was in season four’s Blood on the Scales. Canon veracity: yeah they would stay spun up, even if the rest of the ship should be destroyed as in this episode.
Battlestar alumni Sergeant Hadrian (Jill Teed), Lieutenant Narcho (Noel Allison), Captain Kelly (Ty Olsson) makes cameos as new forty years earlier characters. This makes three Battlestar shows for Jill Teed, she’s also in Caprica, in fact her Caprica character, Colonel Patel, should be alive and well at the moment… back on Caprica. Awkward.
I gotta say Luke Pasqualino is exceeding my expectations. I was worried about his performance only to find Ben ‘Coker’ Cotton is sort of hamming it up at times instead. Both in writing and performance, Luke gives good Adama. You can see echoes of the character evoked in this young actor, that signature mix of perfunctory steadfast loyalty to duty combined with unexpected flashes of rashness. I hope EJO is proud of his protege.
Blood and Chrome’s schedule from Syfy’s Craig Engler.
Or you could go with a little TOP GUN, “We’re out of missiles, I’m switching to Guns!!!”
It was another enjoyable episode (3+4). I look forward to it, and since I don’t work Fridays, that’s a bonus.
When Coker told his buddy he had a son all I could think “this dude is SO GONNA DIE soon”…I hope I’m wrong…
That swarm of Raiders buzzing out of the basestar was a THING OF BEAUTY!!!
I can’t wait to sit and watch this whole thing in all its HD Glory
I do love that the whole series will be spoiled before my birthday!!!
I got the feeling that Coker may have BS’d on that fact, since he knew they were going on a one-way mission before all hell broke loose.
Coker actor Ben Cotton is also a BSG Alumni he was the man in the cell with the girl in the Husker flashback in Razor. And from episode 1 the actor that plays pilot Deke Tornvald was Crewman Specialist Gage…another Pegasus pilot.
This series continues to be really awesome. I also can’t wait to sit and watch the whole thing on blu-ray. It seems like the lens flares were toned down in this installment.
