Who is Daniel? Helo, Baltar or Starbuck

If you go to the bible as a reference, Baltar seems the mostly candidate. Daniel, in the bible, was at one point a “president”, and interpreter of dreams (head-six), and later in life a prophet that believed in one true god.

Daniel is dead. RDM said on his podcast that he didn’t want to introduce another “Who is the FInal Cylon” mystery, and likened Cavil and Daniel to Cain and Abel.

It’s possible, but I think if they were going to go that route, there would be more screen time for the actor than just one episode.

A fair point.

Although I’m tempted, I’m not going to vote for any of the above choices.

My thinking is Daniel will have found a way to beat Cavil/John at his own game. Daniel’s creativity and will to survive might have caused him to be reincarnated through a new fashion that is not dependant of Cylon technology. That’s why I’m beginning to lean on the side that Daniel will be reborn as Tigh and Sixes baby.

I’m going to guess that Daniel is none of the above and say that he is:
Kara’s father
That’s my take on it also. Since we’ve heard the rumblings of it coming. Ugh. IYKWIM.

Nobody is embraceing that it might be Helo and tha’s how she can reproduce with him? Even entertaining it?

If Helo is #7 then someone, probably Starbuck, will make the “How many times does 7 go into 8” joke and Athena will kill that person with such violence and creativity that the next version of the scrolls of Pythia will contain a warning not to ever, under any circumstance, make math jokes at helpful lesser demons.

Daniel is described as artistic and sensitive to the world around him. Baltar is a coward who is only aware of his own needs (unless he’s turned over a new leaf since Gaetacide) . Starbuck is a fingerpainting psychopath who dishes it out to new dads but can’t take it. Not much art and no sensitivity in those two.

I guess I haven’t been paying close enough attention, but is there any evidence to suggest that some of the S7 were built upon people that the F5 knew. Is that perhaps why Leoben obsesses over Kara? I guess I’m trying to explain something inappropriate to the issue?

I really think it is Baltar. No joke. He’s spreading the message of one true god, is creative, survives no matter what, has the projection ability, intuitively understands Cylon technology, in some sense leads the way to Erf, and was targeted for special suffering by Cavil/John on New Caprica.

And will RDM’s podcast is really cool for learning about the process of making the show, I don’t trust it at all for clues re: plot devices.

From what RDM said recently in his podcast…
It’s graystone…I think at least…

Greystone created or at least was a contemporary of the robotic cylons that the Final Five built the humanoid models for. It doesn’t seem possible for him to be one of those models.

Ron Moores words seem to say otherwise…

Daniel is Daniel Jackson from Stargate.

I haven’t listened to the RDM podcast yet, so I’ll do so now. But here’s my line of thinking:

 1. “Caprica” takes place before the Cylon War (First Cylon-Colonial war 40 years before the miniseries)
 2. Daniel Greystone is a character in that series, apparently from the beginning.
 3. Anders said that the Cylon War (same one as above) was already underway when they arrived. It was after the end of the war that the 7 models were created.

If Daniel #7 is Daniel Greystone then one of those statements must be false. It’s possible that #7 could be based on Greystone, but the other way around needs a time machine.

Anyway, I’ll listen to the podcast. I usually don’t because hearing how arbitrary some of the important plotpoints are takes some of the enjoyment out of the show.

Edit: Ok, RDM says Daniel will be important to Caprica. He didn’t say anything that lead me to believe that #7 is Greystroke. Is there something else I’m not seeing?

We know Cavil was jelous of Daniel and destroyed his line.
But, the orignal Daniel was already alive when the copies died.

We know Cavil killed the final 5 then blocked their memories, inplanted new memories to make them think they were human and planted them with the humans to experience the upcomming apocolypse with the humans as punishment for how they designed him.

My theory is Cavil did the same to Daniel.
He blocked his memory, gave him new memories and renamed him Gaius Baltar. Cavil remade him as a scientist as a sick joke on Ellen, since Cavil despised the artistic nature of Daniel.

I also take this a step further to say Daniel and the original Six had some form of bond before Cavil went nuts and took over.
This could explain why Baltar and Six both see each other in their heads and interact with them. Its some kind of leftover bond from when they were created and together.

It also adds a twist of irony that Cavil sent the undercover Six to Caprica (and to Baltar) to gain the access codes to the Colonial Defense network that allowed the Cylon nuke stikes.

Cavil took the Final 5, Daniel and to an extent Six and has reprogrammed them carry out all the events of the show. Both for his revenge on humankind and also personal revenge on the ones he hated most.

Thats my 2 cents!!

That makes a lot of sense, and was what I was guessing too. I definitely think Starbuck is cyclonic—did I just invent a word?—in nature, given that she is version 2.0 and anders saw her glowing with the rest of the Tighlons…

Out of those choices, I would have to say Baltar. Starbuck’s Dad is also a possibility.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Daniel is still alive? We know Cavil prevented Daniel from being copied, but its possible the orginal survived, unless I’m forgetting something. He would have probably had to either try to blend in with the Colonials (giving weight to the Starbuck’s father idea) or survive in space on his own. I see no reason why a skinjob couldn’t survive 40 years on his own.

What’d he say? What’d he say?
