My interesting observation, which I say with love and respect is: When do you guys have time to sleep? Those are some pretty hardcore long podcasts there. I am forced to assume you don’t stay up-to-date on all of them all the time. I am curious as to how and when people are listening and assume those people with really long lists have large blocks of time they are looking to fill.
I listen to Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me and This American Life on the ipod, but that’s only when I miss them “live” on the radio. For true “podcasts”, I listen to GWC and Smodcast. That’s it.
I agree with Solai - how on earth do people find the time to listen to all those podcasts? I find it hard enough to keep up with my four. Oh well.
Most podcasts come out only once a week, long commute to work and school, walking the dog, not much good on TV, Sitting in the lounge at school before class… You would be amazed at how much you can listen to if you carry your iPod around everywhere and only turn it off to talk to other people.
I sit at a computer all day at work. 8 hours, with breaks becomes about 6-6 1/2 hours, 5 days a week. It’s fairly easy to plan a playlist O’podcasts around that (especially if programs come out on a regualar schedual-if it’s monday it must be GWC/TWiT time)
My day to day life anymore is so erratic that I have down days where there is nothing good on the radio or television so I listen to podcasts instead. On other days I almost entirely do not listen to podcasts. Often while driving I do listen to something and my music selection is limited while the local radio stations play next to nothing I care to listen to. We have an AM talker with a sports/talk format, a country station, and an NPR relay of an affiliate that plays most classical during the week (very hazardous for me to listen to while driving). PCMag Radio, GWC, and more provide a void that I would otherwise fill with something from the radio.
There are times, I admit, that I have stuff downloaded that I just do not get to. There are a few weeks of GWC that I did not clear out enough time for listening to as I was rather quite busy. I never did catch up with those episodes as I felt it best just to soldier onward.
My list of podcasts being downloaded also changes periodically. Sometimes I just lose interest in a podcast. Sometimes I just cannot make a sufficient investment in it. Sometimes the podcast just has been crap for long enough that I wanted to reallocate bandwidth to something else.
I have very few seriously long podcasts. I do get a bit of BBC stuff as I used to be a listener to the BBC World Service via shortwave but for a few years now it is only accessible to most Americans via Internet. I have the Radio New Zealand National feed but only download what I am interested in and leave quite a bit not downloaded. Other things run 15 minutes or less and at least three to four feeds have “episodes” that run 3 minutes or less as they are news breaks from air.
My list looks long…but that does not indicate podcast episode lengths.

910 KNEW used to have it up in the hour segments on iTunes, but they had to take it down, so I’ve finally forked over the cash this past week. As funny as I find him to be, I don’t mind giving him a few bucks every month. Plus, they do it in one 1:40 block so I don’t have to keep switching over to the next segment.
I listen to two right now:
GWC of course
Anime Pulse
Periodically or in the past have listened to:
The Signal
Geek Entertainment (how I found out about BSG)
The Annotated Alchemist
Japanese Pod 101
And of couse audio books with favorites being The Dark Tower series by Stephen King as well as The Wheel of Time series although I only made it to book 5 or 6 on that one before I ran out of steam.
I’ve heard JJ Abrahms is in talks with Stephen King to direct a movie or mini-series of the Dark Tower which would be awesome. Anyone know about that? And did I read somewhere in this forum that there is going to be a second Firefly movie which would be awesome-er!:D:D Last I heard, Joss Whedon retired his Firefly dream.
These days, mostly GWC and Radio Free Hipster (music). Also, Singularity (an audiobook from podiobooks) and Ask A Ninja. There’s a few more that Ive dropped as work got busier.
