The other podcasts I listen to are:

and I used to listen to:
Ask a Ninja
The HotSpot
Mugglecast
Wait Wait Dont Tell me
best of youtube
I’m starting to have to switch over to audio podcasts more because my iPod’s filling up quick, so a bunch of the shows i used to watch aren’t as accessible.
As far as favorites go, GWC is probably tied with Mega64 for the top spot.
I’m not a huge podcast person… besides GWC.
That, and Thistlepod (NPR! Woot!)
And before Book 7 came out I also listened to Mugglecast, but since the book it just hasn’t been as interesting.
Two podcasts that I recently started listening to are:
Dan Carlin’s Hard Core History which, once you get past the Shatneresque speaking style of the host, is really good.
And
WNYC’s Radio Lab, a science podcast that tells a story, also really good.
I loved Radio Lab but they only update every few months which drove me crazy
RADIO LAB! I just got into this and have listened to all of them. This is an awesome podcast I have been recommending to everyone. Run, don’t walk to go get this one!
If you dig Radio Lab you might want to check out Are We Alone. Its the official SETI podcast but they talk about so much more than aliens. They talk about what makes us human, how we communicate, how aliens might perceive us. All kinds of cool things. And it has that sore of NPR artsy pretentious flair with out being to pretentious. But it is cool.
So I downloaded the “Are We Alone” podcast and have listened to three episodes so far. It’s not as good as Radio Lab, but it is still a really great podcast. Thanks for the suggestion.
… I listened to the Galactica quorum for a bit, but i didn’t like the way the lady host was being shot down by the other guy.
I really into podcasts at the moment and I also listen to Skynext podcast; 2 guys talking terminator podcast; chess killer tips with Alexandra Kosteniuk; a Jesuit podcast named “pray-as-you-go”; and some singaporean podcasts - Class95’s Morning express and the mrbrown show.
I picked up Radio Lab when Ira recommended it last year and I LOVE IT. The ep about Nicola Tessla a while back had me laughing so hard that other drivers were looking at me askance. Also, season 5 is in production now, and once it’s ready they will come out either once every 2 weeks or once every 3 weeks.
Give them another listen, everyone gets shot down at some point. They’re not afraid to be critical of each other or the show.
One I’ve recently become fond of is “Two Guys Drinking at a Bar” (on the recommendation of DarthMojo.) It’s hard to describe, and you have to see a bunch before you start to ‘get it.’ Essentially it riffs on the idea of short-form youtube videos.
But click through and look at the next few to really get a sense of it.
So im glad i picked up Radio Lab again now. It is an awesome podcast. I gave up on it somewhere in season 3 or 4 i think when it would be weeks or more before a new episode came out and the whole ADD thing kicks in and i look for something new. But now its cool that they are releasing them a lot more regularly.
Does anyone know if a podcast or a place i can stream or download Old Time Radio shows. There is a radio station in central florida that has a show on sunday nights which i normally delay trips back to Tally when i am coming up from Tampa so i can listen to the show. I like most of the old shows but im not as big on the westerns. I really like the horror shows.
Just search for “Old Time Radio” on iTunes. There’s a series of podcasts with that name (Old Time Radio Mysteries, Old Time Radio Thrillers, etc.)
Well i guess i could have done it the easy way. Thanks
Has anyone shown GR a picture of our lovely state capital building in Tallahassee?? He’d love it.
It’s easy to overthink these things.
Hmmm my local NPR affiliate recently added Radiolab to their programming… I’ve been meaning to check it out I assume of course that it’s the same entity as the podcast.
I just posted it in the Gutter thread per your request
I’d recommend The Dilbert Animated Cartoons. They’re 30 second daily cartoons. Very funny.

I’m a huuuuge Kevin Smith fan, and a regular SmodCast listener, but I find the Smodcasts to be hit & miss.
THAT SAID, Smodcast #50 (“Gnome Alone”) is the best one ever. No wandeling or conversational drift on it. Walt Flanagan hosts, and recounts some scams they used to run out of their comics shop. It’s like Goodfellas with Star Wars action figures.
