What other Podcasts do you listen to?

Good mention, I don’t remember if anyone noted the second series before. It’s easily as funny if not funnier than the first, and like the first is a good intro to how a D&D session typically goes.

Brilliant Gameologists is also worth checking out if you’re really into RPGs. They take an incredibly detailed approach to issues that tend to come up in gaming (different playing styles, etc. ), and stir in an amazingly foul-mouthed reparteé. Good times.

I listen to The ForceCast religiously and love it. Love the Roundtables and the Billy Dee quote of the week. Plus anything Star Wars is good in my book.

The Podcast of Ice and Fire is one I have mixed feelings about. I love that someone talks about ASOIAF but I am sometimes put off by the attitude toward not only GRRM himself but also the attitude many of the podcasters have toward some of the characters, especially the female characters. Although I guess it does show how good a job GRRM has done in creating those characters. The crew of POIAF can be quite funny at times.

Hee, one of the things I’m looking forward to about Fan Days 3 is seeing if I can meet Jason and Jimmy! And Ray Park, of course. (Oh, Ray <3 )

Yeah, I’m occasionally on their blog and on SomethingAwful posting my defense of some of the female characters. I was discussing this with some other friends of mine and it really does seem that a lot of the hate for Catelyn and Sansa comes from being more “traditional” women/girls, and the love for Arya and Asha comes from being warrior women. I understand the Arya and Asha love, seeing as Arya is one of my three favorite characters, but hating someone for being a strong person in the confines of a societal role doesn’t really work for me. Especially for Sansa, because she’s like twelve when the stuff they blame her for goes down!

I still love the podcast, though. I’ve been trying to get my RPG buddies to run a campaign in the new system based around House Manwoody :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not listening to the current GWC until later this week, after I’ve watched Harry Potter VI. And I’m caught up on SmodCasts and Studio 360 and Fresh Air. And I’m saving This American Life for an upcoming drive.

Base on those other favorites, does anyone have a recommendation or two to tide me over for a couple-few hours between now and Thursday?

Thanks!

If you like Star Wars you should check out the Force-Cast. It’s got great content, fun hosts (Jason and Jimmy Mac) and of course, the Billy Dee Williams quote of the week. Look for it on I-Tunes, the force.net and rebelscum.com. Imperial Holonet Radio is not bad either.

Easy: Radio Lab. Make sure it is one of the hour ones and not a 15 minute supplemental. Oh, “The Moth” podcast is also superb. Based on your enjoyment of This American Life, both of these are right up your alley. Enjoy!

Oh, Radiolab’s already on my list too. BUT I’d previously meant to check out the Moth, but forgotten. Thank you!

I can’t tell if it would be up your alley or not based on those others you mentioned, but I absolutely love the Adam Corolla podcast. I listen to it every weekday without fail (Solai was the one who brought it to my attention).

I of course second the recommendation. I listen to Adam daily but wasn’t sure it fit given what you threw out there as ones you were listening to. Give it a listen and scan the casts for a guest you are familiar with if you are looking for a good one to start with. They make me laugh every day.

Thanks for the reminder! I meant to add Corolla when he was mentioned a while ago & forgot!

Maybe its too obvious, but I recommend the Cocktail Party Science podcast. There should be 22 archived shows from the past year. I hope they do more. If you aren’t already familar with the podcast, at least you’ll clearly recognize the host.

BTW, any idea who we contact at Popular Science to request more of those podcasts?

Another suggestion is the Savage Love podcast. I’m sure its not everyone’s cup of tea, but I find it very entertaining…

A couple familiar faces…

The frak? News to me as well.

Have you listened to it? The toolmongers are hilarious!! My guess is Scott (the lone sponsor) ran out of money so the 'cast couldn’t continue.

For some inexplicable reason I’ve never listen to this (C&B). What the hell is wrong with me? Downloading now.
