Watchmen (Movie)

Oddly, we don’t seem to have a thread specifically for the movie, or rather we didn’t.

Wil Wheaton gives it a non-spoilery (despite the title) thumbs up.

Hitler seems to be much more of a stickler (spoilery, if you haven’t followed the press at all.) The subtitles are NSFW.

that is the greatest trailer (thingy) ever… it want a copy

“thats like paying a hooker for housecleaning” says hitler, Hahahah Priceless

HERE’S a question – potential spoiler:
If they didn’t think the single-squid event had enough resonance in a post-9/11 world, why not make it TEN squids, instead of ten power plants?
Or is the whole squid concept too esoteric for the general public?

In Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel voice: “Whassat big vajay-jay doin’ up 'ere?”

I hate to say it, but I’m with Hitler on that one.

The Marvel/DC guy has weighed in:

I got my ticket and 4 more for other folks today for tomorrow’s Midnight screening

You know, what’s with dubbing the movie “Downfall” with fake subtitles. Hitler’s not funny. He’s not. He was a monster for whom hell is too good.

Mr. Hilter, on the other hand…

I’m off to see the movie right now.
I have barely been able to think of anything else all day, I am so excited.

Just saw the film and I am astounded. The movie was just dam excellent, I loved every minute of it.

The opening fight is shot by shot from the comic and the montage during the opening credits does well to fill in the back story that was provided by the “Under the Hood” extracts. Use of music was excellent, When they started playing All Along The Watchtower I nearly jumped out of my seat.

They changed the ending but it works perfectly. Just 1 thing got me, they removed almost all of the secondary character story lines. The psychologist still appears for a bit but his whole story is left out.

About half way through a bunch of people got up and left so i guess the movie isn’t for everyone.

I’ll post a bit more later once I’ve had a chance to think a bit.

Agreed, agreed. I rescind my snickers. However, as you point out, Mr. Hilter, of the National Bocialist Party, that is funny.

12 HRS 15 MINUTES until i the previews roll

You know who agrees with you?

I hope to see the movie Sunday. I am glad to hear it is good.

Went to the NY premiere on Tuesday night and… I loved it (even with the slightly different ending). I think this clip from the movie explains how this movie is great:

Figures!

(The movie that’s from is damned good, by the way. Just sayin’)

The Washington Post gave it an AWFUL review this morning (even trashed the graphic novel. Seriously. Called it “unreadable.” What a jerk that reviewer is!). I figure it probably means the movie’s brilliant, seeing as how I usually find that their movie reviews are usually the opposite of how I end up feeling about a movie (with a few exceptions, of course).

I’m a bit suspicious of the positive preview press, but when I see negative reviews, I’m heartened that they take down the novel as well. It means they are just in no position to be able to understand it.

“If he opens his bik mouf again it’s LAMP SHADE TIME!”

It’s so wrong…but so…no, it’s wrong. But funny as hell when John Cleese does it.

I’m waiting on this movie. Not because I don’t want to see it, but because the stupid economy stupid sucks a stupid stupid thing. Or something.

Indeed. This guy was complaining about the wooden dialogue in the original and how it was translated verbatim into the movie and it was all the actors could do to bring this nonsensical, plotless stuff to life.

Plotless? Watchmen? Are you frakking kidding me?

YaY! 11:59 showing!

I liked it, very well translated to the screen

I really loved the movie. and Persoanlly i liked the ending in the movie significantly better than the books. It actually made much more sense. There was only one thing cut that i wanted to see but it really wasn’t necessary. Actually its kinda an Anti Spoiler cause its not revealing something but the lack of something But what i wanted to see was…
Which was the death of Hollis
.
