Hold on there SB - I’ll say it for you (think Mae West): “Don’t flatter yourself -big boy”.
For what it is worth - they are not spoilers in the true sense of the term. More along the lines of marketing info to get those, who are already interested in the series, insanely interested in the series.
I just like to keep things lively
You’re right. Not spoilers-- more like little peeks into the windows of the house that soon we will be able to play inside.
That is a cool idea and I hope that they go down the same road as you are thinking. I’ve had similar thoughts about there being a civil war or something that ultimately leads to the colonies uniting. I just never imagined “Colony/Centurions VS. Colony/Centurions”. A lot of promise for Space porn if they go that route.
I also imagine that we shall see some non - Centurion metallic Cylons clomping around the landscape. What became of them after CW 1 really got underway - who knows? Probably turned off by humans.
Then there is the related question of why Centurions in the first place. Assuming that they were built by humans (which they had to be, since Greystone had not yet created his first humanoid Cylon - unless we have FF type Cylons already in the neighborhood and up to no good - very, very doubtful) - they pretty clearly were created for martial reasons (just look at them). What did the Colonies or Caprica need military Cylons for - well, self defense against other Colonies, aggressive force against other Colonies and/or internal security come to mind. What would most likely cause these marginally sentient “things” to revolt - as noted, being required to destroy each other.
I guess it cannot be ruled out that the martial Cylons were created by non-martial Cylons, after the latter revolted - which throws out the window all the foregoing.
In any event, it appears that the human men in Caprica favor hats circa 1960 USA - from the photos I’ve seen. Think Madmen visits Caprica.
That’s very true. I have thought that they’re using that to evoke a film noir feel, but it almost seems like a crutch, based on the teasers. I have faith in the series to stand up on its own feet but I’m not yet sold on the costumes/hats.
They’ll have a better chance of pulling it off, if a lot of the humans follow the sterling example of Doc Cottle and smoke cigerattes. After all, to our knowledge the Surgeon General of Caprica at the time in question had yet to connect cigarette smoking with cancer and other diseases.
besides rdm, does anyone know if any of the bsg writers / cast / crew will be involved with caprica? and most importantly, will bear mccreary me doing the music…? pretty please say yes…
Well do we know for sure if he will be creating cylon-cylons, or if its about the first steps towards human cylons?
And isnt old cylon the model 005? Maybe in those 11 years they just made the model, but not cylons as a whole.
I dunno…
Get what Im trying to say?
My long standing (educated?) guess is that Greystone’s company will have had to developed and marketed “metal” cylons before the start of the series Caprica. The “timing” that is known between Caprica, the 1st CW and BSG certainly supprts that. Also, Greystone’s attempt to recreate his dead daughter is more plausible, if he used already developed cylon - cylon technology. It’s a stretch to think that his first attempt was to develop humanoid cylons and then revert to cylon - cylons (or at least it seems so to me)>
With the pilot out we know the order of the Cylon(z):
The skinjobs have a central repository of knowledge on their basestars. It results in a sort of hive mind when they put their hands in the water and upload memories/skills, etc., not unlike how Zoe first made them/her. Daniel Graystone can be seen to use something called the datastream in the show–nearby is a pic of the mandala.
Hybrids don’t fit in exactly. They’re a cross-between. However Anders found perfection in being one. And, well, raiders are cylon(z) too.
All this being said I expect the reverse to be true in Caprica. Zoe-R (robot Zoe-a) will be reviled as an abomination by her little friend, Lacy. The Priestess Clarice Willow will either be for or against it–I vote for–Joseph Adama, against.
I suspect just as Admr. Adama “fired the first shot,” so to speak, in the First Cylon War, so will his father in Caprica. This will cause Graystone to have to fight the Tauron Mob. Full-on religious war ensues.
The time difference doesn’t matter. If Zoe-R and AdamaDaddy lead their respective charges the war could be quick to start. Who knows what funds lurk in Sister Willow’s heart?
Well Greystone had the body working already, it was the software that was giving him trouble. I take it that he had been working on them for awhile.
Just to firm up the time line … Caprica takes place 58 years before the Fall. not 51
so 58 - 41 (time since the armistice) = 17
first Cylon v human war lasted 12 years so 17 - 12 = 5
5 years until war starts. (which, I am sure, is where Caprica Ends.)
Then again, RDM has been known to skip a year…
Nah! He’ll never do that again.
Oh great, now I have Bear’s “One year later” theme stuck in my head.
Can’t sleep … flash forwards will eat me!!!
