i just realized the guy that plays father jack was from 4400… he was Tom… the guy has been in a lot of scifi tv shows actually…
My theory about this (and it is just a theory) is that the real reason why the V’s are being so stealthy is because …
they, like the humanoid Cylons, are having trouble creating offspring on their own for some reason or another and need Human help to reproduce. If true, this would explain why they don’t blow up Earth or kill off all of mankind in one foul swoop.
The BSG soundtrack always strongly reminded me of Peter Gabriel’s soundtrack for the Last Temptation Of Christ in 1989, especially the first track, so it’s a little difficult to claim anyone’s being ripped off. In music, everyone is borrowing something stylistically from someone else. I will afford that that particular style Bear adopted for BSG is very uncommon in television, considering its african and middle-eastern influences, so it’s a bit fishy that it would also be used in a show with so similar a theme, so soon after its ending.
Also, you wanna be real nitpicky, go back and listen to the music in the Firefly episodes The Train Job, War Stories, and Heart of Gold, which came out in 2002. Granted, compared to the others, the music in V has not stood out as anything exceptional.
yes, there are Firefly music that sounds extremely like certain music in BSG. Especially the middle east influenced ones. when i was rewatching Firefly, it made me went back and check who did the music for Firefly, since many of Firefly Writers crossed over to BSG.
Firefly was composed by Greg Edmonson and Varese Sarabande, Serenity by David Newman and again Varese Sarabande.
I think you’re on to something. That could explain some of the focus on
Nichols’ wife, and what was going on with her.
I’m pretty sure that there was also a line between two V’s talking about the son, Tyler perhaps being “the one”. At the time I thought they were talking about his potential to be an ambassador, or a symbol they could use.
I’m getting caught up on V. The scene where the V guy becomes lunch after mating with Anna… seems totally worth it.
after the guy from Chuck took over V, it is getting a lot better. Now the threat seems more real, and i am really on the edge of my seat.
io9 had an interesting writeup on last night’s show:
The Real Problem With The New “V” Series
As much as I’m enjoying the show, I’m finding it difficult to argue against any of the points that they brought up. So far, it really doesn’t seem like they have an actual plan, while the Visitors clearly do. While it’s obvious that the V storyline is going somewhere, the “Resistance” seems completely ineffectual. It’s actually making it difficult to root for the humans, IMO.
Actually, my thought on watching V lately (and I admit it would be difficult to pull off now, after some of Diana’s activities) would be “wouldn’t it be really interesting if it turned out the Visitors really were good guys who were trying to help us”?
Think about it. Some of the big items the Visitors have promised Earth are things like universal healthcare and [strike]green[/strike] “blue” energy. Suppose they really are benevolent and the resistance is a bunch of essentially racist types (“we can’t trust them, they’re aliens”) going “we don’t care if they can save the lives of millions of humans and help save the planet, we ain’t gonna let any aliens tell us humans what to do! And tell them we don’t want them in our [strike]state[/strike] planet!”
Or could ABC get away with something like that?
Love me some Anna…but Lexa Doig (who plays the V doctor…) is just…
I’ll be in my bunk
Am I missing where we’re discussing V? Is it just not popular enough? I really like it. I was happy with the season finale. Where are the other V fans out there?
I liked it, too, and I’m looking forward to the new season. I agree that the Resistance needs to step it up a bit, but I’m still enjoying the series.
seen some frak parties, but beyond that, not outside of this thread
I was happy with the season finale. It had much more movement in the story than I expected. I have a few nitpicks though…
-How did Jacob’s refusal off the message tip off Anna? Seems like that’s exactly what he would’ve done if he were innocent.
-Why do the V’s have zero surveillance on their own ships? There’s not one camera in that place? There’s not even one in the egg room where you’d think they would be conducting round-the-clock surveillance for scientific purposes alone.
-Why would Erica and Hobbes ever, ever be seen in the same place at the same time, much less sitting side by side? I think that head priest (the pastor?) is a V and this could be bad news for Erica.
and a few questions on the story…
-Why does Anna all of a sudden have human emotions? Does donning cloned human flesh somehow impart emotions onto these lizards?
-At the end, Jacob is brought back to life. Initially, I thought Marcus was there to begin interrogating him, but then I thought just maybe he wants to collude with Jacob.
-Now that this red stuff has been released it seems the next season will take us into a new chapter where humanity will change the way they view the V’s. I wonder what Season 2 will be like. It won’t be all out war because we can’t really fight them.
Did anyone else think the red sky looked really, really bad? I mean “bad” in terms of special effects. The show usually does such a good job with that.
Elizabeth Mitchell is perfect in just about every scene. That’s all I got to say!
I think you mean Joshua - not Jacob.
I wondered the same thing about Anna feeling her first human emotion. Maybe in order to make the skin live on them they have to use some kind of hormones or something. Or maybe just being around humans does it. That seems to have been what did it with John May and Ryan.
I thought he was caught because of a transmission made immediately after the attempted delivery… ?
You’re right, I meant Joshua. Too much LOST on my mind I guess!
Yeah, but seemed like they must have already been on their way to nab him since they walked in right after the transmission. I don’t know.
Yeah the finale was actually pretty good, glad I stuck with the show. We got the virus, V is for Victory and the lizard baby. I wanted to see lizard baby, what’s up with that? It was a highlight of the old show.
I thought Joshua was caught because of the note Chad delivered which had nothing to do with the delivery or the transmission. I might be confused. I thought Joshua ended the transmission before Chad was even on board the ship with the note.
Anna had been spending a lot of time with humans. Chad for example. Or perhaps it’s just being on Earth that causing this effect or their skins. Either way, she’s scary when she’s mad. Red Sky is a very, very bad sign.
I finally saw this finale also. I like this show. I too, wanted to see more of the lizard baby. I felt cheated that all we got to see was it’s little curly tail.
I thought the same thing- how come the V’s don’t know Ericka was in the egg chamber? Surely they have video surveillance of the entire Mother ship.
I think this show has a lot of potential, and will keep watching!
