Tron Legacy

Sure, point being it was an interesting supporting story to tell that they glossed over.

The more I think about it the more I struggle with the whole CLU story. It doesn’t make sense. CLU is a program, he isn’t a copy of Flynn. He has no knowledge transferred, he is simply a construct to help build the perfect world. The only reason I can come up why Flynn doesn’t kill CLU outright is the throwaway line from Cora, “Flynn couldn’t survive the reintegration” Why does Flynn need to re-integrate with him? CLU isn’t part of him, he is a program.

<deep sigh>

I know. I wanted TRON: Legacy to be the Matrix in scope. It should hold up under scrutiny. I want to park my brain at the door and not dig into it but I am compelled to.

Oh, by the way, when did Sam learn Kung-fu?

I will watch this movie again and again. I’ll love it. I just need to give it a little more suspension of disbelief than I had hoped I would have to.

I am so absurdly pleased with how this turned out. It is a piece of art, and the combination of music and visuals blew my figurative socks off.

I am pleased.

Oooh…you can download a free track from the TRON Daft Punk album. Listening to it now, not the rave song, but a sweet one none the less.

Enjoy

I felt like I wanted more of TRON’s story too. I will need to see it all again since I kept nodding off during the midnight show. My bigger concern is that this isn’t a film that will crossover the way the Star Trek reboot did. I feel like Disney made a mistake by not rereleasing the 82 film. This version was fun, but the film is called TRON and he wasn’t in it.

I can deal with the film’s shortcomings but I was hoping it would hit the big time and not be another cult classic.

Cora explained quite clearly why Flynn could not defeat Clu, she said that Clu fed off of Flynn’s agression. The harder he fought him the stronger Clu got. That is why Flynn became a monk and got all ZEN on us, learning to resist Clu in a indirect and non confrontational way.

I sort of liked how they showed us Tron changing back to good at the end and left what happens to him open, obviously leaving things open for a sequel.

OK - seen it for the second time now…and there will probably be a third before the end of the year.

I have to say…I really enjoyed the damn thing. It was visually stunning. The story was good. I liked how the father/son relationship started to work itself out. Quorra (Cora) was awesome…and just damn hot. Little nods to the original and hints of possible sequels were there as well. The weapons and the vehicles sti

Me likey!!

It was fun. Don’t go looking for any semblance of a deep story or brilliant acting (except Michael Sheen) and you’ll be okay. Just watch the pretty lights and listen to the music and you should walk away happy.

review on my site. http://popninjas.com

I am not so sure if CLU could be considered just a program. I think the lines of “biometric breakthrough” meant that Flynn was trying to create a world were people and computers could go back and forth. A lot of people right now live online through interactive gaming etc, what if you could just be in the world of Tron for real? What if that was the message of the movie and that is what Flynn’s breakthough was all about. He had figured out how to make it possible.
Maybe it takes a bit of suspension of disbelief, but I thought it was cool to think about. CLU would then be able to become Flynn in the real world and it would be very much like the Matrix. It explains how Cora got out in the end.

I’m not really sure I want to step up and defend the story here, because I think it was pretty weak, but I think there’s some reasonable explanation to be had in terms of this.

Flynn clearly doesn’t qualify as an all-powerful god on or off the grid. He can apparently do a lot of things that a program couldn’t but he also seems to be subject to the " natural laws" in the digital world. Outside of the system, he can do whatever he wants. Sam points that out and that’s the whole plan: Get out of the system, delete Clu, and you’re done.

Inside the system, that doesn’t seem to be an option. It’s not entirely clear what the extent of Flynn’s power is, he lights up Zeus’ club and in the original film he got the solar sail simulation to jump to another beam. In the digital world, Kevin is a User, but that doesn’t mean that he’s the end-all-be-all.

Saw the movie yesterday at noon. Sure the story was a little weak, but so was the original story. Loved the visual and audio feast it provided! Want to see it again.

i liked it

now granted i’m new to the Tron series, but its was fun, honestly i wish they had delayed going into Tron world, and set up some of the outside characters more, its seems they were starting stories and dropping them. I will say they there was one moment where they lost me… the light cycle battle was all super cool and than they had the arrow that made them go faster and all i could think was Mario kart. i was hoping one of the cycles would shoot a turtle shell. i get it was a game and it makes sense, still all i could see was bowser riding a light cycle after that.

i thought the acting was a little uneven with quora (sp?) which is strange cause Olivia wild is good actress from what i saw of her on house. Jeff bridges was good, i have never seen the big lebowski but from the limited info i got from the cast on it. it seems he played the enlighten stoner well. and you know what, bonus points for the dude from Babylon 5

So it was pretty and actiony and whole bunch other adjectives that end in “Y” but well worth your time and money.

Standing in line to see Tron for the second time (i saw it in 2D the first time and i’m seeing in in 3D IMAX this time). The wife is visiting her mom for xmas and im staying home to take care of a sick kitty.
I’m seeing a movie by myself for the first time ever!
I feel like a deviant

Edit: also this will be my first movie in any kind of 3D! I hope my head don’t 'splode.

Okay…first impression of the 3D Version.

Gem’s Booty = Amazing

Gem’s Booty in 3D = Oh. My. User.

Gems whole damn body in 3D = head 'splode

This’ll take you back to '82, way back when computers were the size-a you.

Yeah that’s also a cool costume.

I know what you mean… we saw it today and I wanted more Tron. The story was perhaps not super strong, but I really liked Quorra’s character, and particularly that the film didn’t feel the need to pair her off with anyone. The last scene was great
