Torchwood - Series 3 - Children of Men

So I am hearing, although I have seen nothing official, it looks like the next Series is going to be broadcast the same day in the UK and the US - so there will be just a 5/6 hour delay.

Of course I think everyone knows it is only going to be 5 episodes and shown mini-series style over the coarse of a week.

I am also hearing June/July for broadcast.

They have a trailer up now on the BBC Torchwood site but you can only access it in the U.K. :frowning: I haven’t heard anything on the air dates yet or even a true confirmation on the team. Last I heard Martha backed out to do the UK CSI show that Jamie Bamber has taken a roll on.

Is it still true that there will only be a few shows this year?

Yup, 5 episodes only. All shown in a week.

Which means that it is kinda like Galactica - there will be over a year between Season 2 and 3 (the last time we saw Torchwood was mid April) and then only a small snippet and then likely another big break.

But I am hearing that this is going to be one long story played out over 5 episodes. To “relaunch” the show on BBC1. Then it will hopefully be back to the normal 13 episodes for Season 4 (not that Season 4 has been greenlit yet, but I can’t imagine them not with the success it has had in the UK and here in the US)

Why are they cutting the show to 5 eps? On the basis of the move to BBC1? Seems odd.

The Official Trailer is up!!!

It looks really good. And we get to see Gwen to the sideways double fisted gun shoot. And Captain Jack is in it which is good

And we get to see Gwen to the sideways double fisted gun shoot.

I’m telling myself that’s an homage to Hot Fuzz. “Have you ever fired two guns whilst jumping through the air and goin’ ‘Arrggghhh!!’?”

Hmmm…not sure how I feel about the kids thing, though that is one easy way to raise the stakes. But…Matthews!! I can’t be the only one who loved the Hornblower movies. Matthews!!! (for the record, he’s the grey haired guy who’s not in the suit and he’s AWESOME).

I was thinking the same thing

No you are not alone - it was my first reaction also. I am also a fan of the Hornblower movies - own the 7 movie box.

Being a Bamber Bunny it is must see TV

And I see you are in Philly - where about’s? I am just north east of the city.

Oooh, I’m excited. Though, I’m a bit sad that I won’t see Owen or Tosh on the show, even though I am also a bit happy to see Rhys there in the trailer, seemingly as a possible member…? But, no air dates yet? Bah.

Anyway, weird bit about John Barrowman. I was cleaning up my apt, and found a stash of those booklets you get from musicals I’ve kept over the years. (yeah, I watch musicals. Shoot me.) Anyway, I was flipping through them, and I never realized it then, but I actually saw John Barrowman in Sunset Boulevard back in the 90’s when I was in London. How weird is that? He definitely has that Joe swagger thing going on as Jack.

Of course, after that, I googled him and realized he was in loads and loads of musicals, silly me for not knowing sooner.

But anyway.

I can’t wait for the new Torchwood. I’ve really missed the show.

The reason there is only 5 episode this year is the huge sale on pound :stuck_out_tongue: BBC do not have enough cash to make +7 episode.

I found this article that does contain some spoilers for “children of Earth”

http://torchwoodtv.blogspot.com/

It says that Children of Earth still has no time slot.

But. it also says that season four was commisioned before season three was. and that season four will be a proper 13 episode season, But John Barrowmen will be out of contract after season three.

seems like all the news around torchwood is good news with bad news tied to it.

I don’t think I can handle Torchwood without Captain Jack. Honestly he’s the reason I started watching in the first place because I loved the character so much in Dr. Who.

I agree. But I did learn that there can be Dr. Who’s after Tom Baker, and I learned that one again after Christopher Eccleston.

If they have to replace the Actor I would have no choice but to give it a chance… we know he lives a Loooooong time, so you never can tell.

I didn’t want to like David Tenet as the doctor and didn’t, then I did, and now I don’t want him to go…

the whoverse is everchanging…

New Trailer up at BBC America (and for those in England at BBC)

It is July yet? Why won’t they just announce a date in July yet?

Ooooh! This will really give me an incentive for me to get off my sorryBarb and finish Netflixing season 2!

Yes it should - season 2 is my favorite so far.

It looks like you have until about July 20th (at least that is the date I am hearing for BBCA HD, I am hoping the regular versions will be on either earlier or the same time.

Last I heard it is going to be broadcast on the same day across the globe, but BBC hasn’t said when it is airing yet.

I’m only up to the 5th episode in Season 1 of Torchwood, but Holy Crap this is a great show. Darker and more racy then Doctor Who, but fun that it’s in the same world as Who.
