Torchwood - Series 3 - Children of Men

And in my opinion it only gets better from there. My favorite episodes from Season 1 are Countrycide (the one you see next), and Cyberwoman (ep 4), and then the last 2.

As for season 2 there is only like 1 episode I don’t enjoy all that much (as in I will watch it, but not my favorite).

I hadn’t seen Who when I watched the first 2 seasons of TW, so it can stand on it’s own, but many things make a bit more sense when you have seen the rest of Who.

It is my current obsession (it has filled the void left by BSG, but hasn’t replaced BSG).

there are a few really good audio books out for Torchwood. I already listened to “everyone says hello” narrated by Owen.

a few are full cast (original cast)…

Torchwood to be the first offering on BBC America HD.

finally an air date… Oh and it looks like the DVD will be out the following week? wtf?

This is probably old news to everyone, but I just came across some videos of the comic con panel (2008) of Torchwood, in which they talk about series three among other things. It’s pretty strange how similar John is to his character Jack.

Just one of the seven videos of it, but at around 6 mins or so, Jack and Tosh sings Miss Saigon, which? Pretty amazing.

ETA: I suck at embedding videos.

Oh, and it’s a little spoiler-y for those still going through the first two seasons, so don’t watch until you’ve finished those.

I now have to admit that, despite reluctance to get sucked into yet another tangential series, I am locked into Torchwood. No, the acting is not stellar, nor do the story arcs reach Chris carter-esque proportions. But it does have the right blend of wit, intrigue, shagging and that kick-SorryBarb Welsh accent to win this curmudgeon’s heart.

I could do without the pterodactyl, but other than that, I’m comfortably closing season 2 at this point, and really hoping that the show gets the teeny-tiniest bit of a nod in all the hoopla surrounding the Tennant film production. I’m just sayin’.

And an update, as the bonus disc (5) for season two just arrived today…hey, thanks, ubiquitous Netflix magic! =D

It is easy to embed from youtube… all you do is copy the vid number out of the address. in the one you have above it is CHaNt7_158U (its the bit after the v= )
then when you want to embed it you type
[“youtube”]CHaNt7_158U["/youtube"] without the quotes… I had to put those there so you would see it.
thats a [ not a { and at the end it [/ bracket then a slash. and don’t forget the ] on the end of both.
when you take the quotes out it will look like this

//youtu.be/CHaNt7_158U

thats it.

OK, so despite what I heard, and what was reported it seems that the UK (and Australia) are getting the new TW next week…so not fair. It is going to be tough to avoid spoilers.

But there are 3 radio plays - available on BBC iPlayer they were broadcast yesterday, today, and tomorrow (July 1, 2, 3rd). But they are available for 7 days on listen again:

http://search.bbc.co.uk/search?go=homepage&scope=all&q=torchwood+radio+plays&Search=Search

They are on the list of things to do tomorrow for me.

Then it is going to be a long 2 weeks.

Wow, I gotta say, that this is the best writing Russel T Davis has ever done, it’s fantastic fun so far.

Splitting it into 5 parts seems to have brought some old-skool Dr Who into it, and it doesn’t hurt that they’ve toned the personal lives down a bit to concetrated on the shooting and 'sploding!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the first Episode - it was a bit slow to get started, but really revved up at the end.

But see I don’t think they have toned down the personal stuff as much (remember I have only seen epi 1), in fact I think there is more personal stuff then we have gotten in the past. Now I do like that the personal stuff we have gotten as been concentrated on the team and not the guest star/threat of the week.

I think it is a good mix of personal and action.

Episode 2 is even better. Definitely gets the adrenaline pumping, and I can’t get enough of Rhys’ and Gwen’s accents. I think one thing that’s so great about Torchwood and Doctor Who is their ability to make me care about almost all new guest characters in the span of an episode almost as much as I care about the regular cast. It’s amazing.

I hate that we only get 5 episodes this season, but I cannot wait to see what happens. And, the great thing is, I’ll get to watch them all by the end of the week! I wasn’t a huge fan of Torchwood circa season 1, but I’m glad I didn’t give up on the show and didn’t miss the awesome that was season 2 and now, hopefully, season 3 as well.

that was an all round good tv show!

Well I just got done watching TW COE. One word WOW!!! I won’t give up any spoilers here. One question though.
We all know how Jack became the man that could not die. I got that. But from what has been mentioned when the heck did the Doctor place Jack back in time? From what they said he is not just decades but centuries old. WTF?
If anyone can shine some daylight on this i’d be appreciative.
jack was a time agent long before he met the Doctor, but not before he became immortal.

What i want to know is during ep 5 of COE did anyone else see the Master :(
Also, (though, not really much of a spoiler for COE but more like info from the past series and DW)
I think in an episode in Series two, they explain it a bit. Jack, in an effort to find the doctor, uses his time agent wrist band thingy (seen on numerous occasions in the DW series) to transport him back to Cardiff now, but he made a mistake on the time portion, and got there a hundred years (not sure on the exact years) earlier instead. The time wrist band thingy either got busted or got destroyed after this ride, and so Jack was stuck there. He then joined the Torchwood at the time (or, got caught by that torchwood) while he waited to see the doctor again. He figured since the doctor would refuel from time to time at the rift, he’d see him again, and since he didn’t age, he could wait forever.
I have yet to watch the last ep (hee, thankfully the spoilers had little to do with the actual COE), and am dying to find out what happens.
I really like Lois in the show, and I definitely hope she’d join the team.
That’s why I did it this way so that I didn’t inadvertently give out info that could be important. Granted I would have liked a full series 3 but what they did here was great. That and more of the backstory to those present was wonderful to.

Oh BTW Jack is still Jack at the very end of series. And that’s what hooks you even more to TW. Also the relation between Jack and that mother and son . Very DW to that end.
If you are talking about the person in the conference room on the phone. I’d have to say YES!!! If it isn’t then they got a double for him. I hadn’t noticed the first time but when you mentioned it I took another look. Wonder if this is how they are going to tie into the New DW to come.
I got to say, while the whole series 3 was great to watch, I have to say the first 3 episodes were stronger than the last 2. But, overall, awesome one week series.
Mostly, I thought the way they tied everything up at the end was a bit silly, and mostly I’m not sure if I bought Jack’s emotional arc over the episodes(I sympathesized with Frobisher more than I did Jack), and if I can’t feel for Jack after him having TWO deaths (a grandson and a lover), I’m not sure what will.
And of course, I cannot believe they killed off yet another Torchwood-er! It’s pretty frustrating at times, given I’m still not over the last 2 deaths from last season, but especially this one - since I’m not sure whether killing off Ianto in kind of a silly way was at all necessary or interesting as an aftermath. So, hm. Given the strong ratings, I bet Torchwood would definitely get another season, and I’ll probably watch it, but I’m not sure how to get over losing 3 out of the 5 original cast members. I’m now left rooting for Rhys (It’s not that I dislike Gwen or Jack, because I do like them, but I don’t find them as intriguing as the now dead ones).
Where did you see that? PM me with where you think it was I would love to take a look at it and confirm it

For those of you in the US who haven’t seen it yet, the new Torchwood series is airing this week on BBC America. I set up frak party threads for anyone who wants to watch it live.
