Hey now we don’t have that many trailer parks! LOL But I know what you are saying. Pretty boring scenery when all you see out the window is corn or bean fields.

When I went on that big drive across country the first day from Glenview Illinois was corn, cows, barn, corn, cows. I so know what you mean. Now that gas prices are going down maybe my husband and I could go back to the car trips we use to take. Oh that was before we had a house.

Now we have weekend vacations. Since so much can be done from a few hours from my house we take the bit of extra change and go on a long weekend. Sometimes it may be only one day but just something different. Florida has a great amount of natural habitat to relax in.

Strangely enough, despite all my travel—or maybe because of it–I am perfectly content with where I am in New England. However, I would recommend Germany as a place to visit. I just love the German attitude towards life. Every day is a party—literally.

Just remember, Germans are not all teddy bears and sunshine…

Whereas I don’t really like the smell of the ocean, and my partner is like, I want to live near the ocean! Then again, he spent all of his summers on the Pacific when he was a kid, whereas my summers were spent… at home.

The ocean smell gets in your blood. I grew up in Puerto Rico and, even though I lived inland, that smell of salt water still feels like home to me.

Yeah - I’ve done the drive up and down 39 many, many times. That turn near Peoria is really very exciting.

But the time I took the Amtrak south from Chicago, well, wow. A side of Illinois I wasn’t as familiar with.

The ocean smell gets in your blood. I grew up in Puerto Rico and, even though I lived inland, that smell of salt water still feels like home to me.

My mother, who grew up near the ocean and has lived not near the ocean for the past 30 years, is also still nostalgic for the sea.

So, there’s little hope for my partner. I won’t say no to an occasional vacation. I just don’t want to live on it.

I moved to Florida just after the first Jaws movie came out. My brother and I were not sure of this ocean and beach thing.

Well weekend driving trips here will soon be spur of the moment and not planned out. Weather will start being a major pain to plan around. But Illinois is now pretty much brown empty fields, cows, barn, pigs, more brown empty fields, ooooh a city.

I usually go north on RT 29, then onto 180. You get to follow the Illinois River so there’s more scenery. Lots of wooded land, wild turkeys and deer.

I’d love to live closer to either one of the oceans. Not necessarily right on it but within driving distance less than 3 days. Within 3 hours would be acceptable.

If it all works out perfectly it will be in a classic 67 Impalla.

if not it may be in a much less impressive but far more fuel efficient Jetta :o

Nickname Boomer…not that I’m an expert by any means, but what sort of stuff are you looking to see? Savannah and Charleston are both beautiful. Atlanta’s fun, too, esp DragonCon in September. My favorite city in the south, though, is Asheville NC. Gorgeous mountain town.
