Top 10 Played Songs

Seeing someone’s music collection is an interesting way of learning something new about your fellow GWCers. Inspired by @juiceandbenny here are my unedited top 10 played songs:

  1. Overkill (acoustic) - Colin Hay
  2. Accentuate the Positive - Johnny Mercer
  3. Little Bitty Pretty One - Bobby Darin
  4. Caravan of Love - The Housemartins
  5. Just One Of Those Things - Nat King Cole
  6. My Heart Belongs to Daddy - Julie London
  7. Sweet Mistakes - Ellis Paul
  8. Every Morning - Keb’ Mo’
  9. Here Comes the Sun - Nina Simone
  10. Just Like Heaven - The Cure

You don’t need to link your songs if you don’t want, I did as I suspect some of my songs will be unfamiliar.

Nice, beside your 1st and last one I’ve not heard of the rest. Mine I guess are more well-known. Although iTunes doesn’t register the playtimes of song on my mp3-Players:

[ol]
[li]Starbuck playing the “Final Five” Theme - Bear McCreary[/li][li]All Along The Watchtower - Bear McCreary[/li][li]Kara Remembers - Bear McCreary[/li][li]Helden 2008 - Revolverheld[/li][li]Hope (Deus ex Machina) - Michael Giacchino[/li][li]The Funeral - Greg Edmonson[/li][li]Crocodile Locke - Michael Giacchino[/li][li]Make Your Own Kind Of Music - Mama Cass Elliot[/li][li]Wind Of Change - Scorpions[/li][li]Ich Roque - Sportfreunde Stiller[/li][/ol]

Due to several computer re-installs and the fact that over the years I’ve kept my iTunes on 4 separate computers and 3 separate iPods (one for working out, one for travel, and one in the car) I felt my list of top 10 iTunes played song is not representative of my 10 ten actual favorite songs.

However, a few weeks ago on the Friday night while the Crüe was recording podcast #273 (the one in which Juan sang a snippet of Under Pressure because I thought he could do a great job of it), I started looking into what my top 5 favorite songs would be because I wanted to create a playlist with them on it.

The 5 songs I chose that night were (via Twitter https://twitter.com/#!/ShooterGWC/status/74269674904367104 & https://twitter.com/#!/ShooterGWC/status/74272078404124672)

  1. Don’t Stop Believing - Journey
  2. Baba O’Reilly - The Who
  3. What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
  4. Under Pressure - Queen & David Bowie
  5. 99 Red Balloons - Nena

For the rest…

  1. How Far We’ve Come - Matchbox 20
  2. Come Sail Away - Styx
  3. Gimme Some Lovin’ - The Spencer Davis Group
  4. Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
  5. Right Now - Van Halen

I hope this meets the intent.

~Shooter out

Totally! Are you familair with Crystal Method’s remix of Magic Carpet Ride?

lol - no, I had not heard that before. It definitely spiced it up.

I’m not sure if these are always on my top ‘played’ list,
but these songs have always felt to me like they’re my most favourites -

  3. For a Short Time - Weddings, Parties and Anything.
  4. Dumb Things - Paul Kelly

  6. Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1 in G major by Bach - Yo Yo Ma
  7. Beethoven’s 9th symphony - London Symphony Orchestra

  9. Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers
  10. Somebody to Love - Queen

Let me guess, Uchiha, you are a BoA fan?

  10. Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss

If the list wasn’t just restarted, I am afraid my list will be dominated by the same songs from a few albums, since I usually listen to them together… like the whole top ten will just be Rent or Les Miserable or something

Excellent thread idea! I have often enjoyed looking at the difference between my Top 25 Most Played lists on my ipod and on my computer. I listen to really different music out of the house than when I’m at home! I’ll wait to post my actual results until I’m at home so I can include both lists.

Jizz in my Pants - Lonely Island
Still D.R.E - Dr Dre

…course i have over 1000 songs on my ipod and I do a lot of shuffling

Weird what comes up, because I am always discovering new music and the music I listen to at work changes according to mood and so forth. It is almost like I am rediscovering the music I really enjoyed months ago…

Love that song, the whole album really.

Operator likey Arcadia? Me, too!

One New Year’s Eve party in my 20s my friend Bob said, “let’s turn on the radio at midnight and whatever song is playing will be our song for the year” and it was Me and Julio Down By the School Yard. We all sang and danced around the house to the song, it was perfect. “I’m on my way, I don’t know where I’m going…”

And we’ve already discussed Cake but yeah, great song.

This is from my Touch. I have to cheat a bit or it would all be Once More, With Feeling or a Pearl Jam album I listened the hell out of when it came out.

Like A Virgin- Glee Cast
Shout- Tears for Fears
Blues Run the Game- Headless Heroes
Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol
Our House- Madness
Brand New Day- NPH
Hazy Shade of Winter- The Bangles
Smile- Lily Allen
Box Full O’ Honey- Duran Duran
Bleed it Out- Linkin Park

Great, great song.
