I went last night to a midnight show. I’d love to see it on a IMAX though. There is a perfectly good IMAX cinema in Belfast, but it not used for some reason.

Buddy of mine back east lives pretty close to a really uber modern multiplex…has IMAX and teh best THX systems. And they platy…art films. As it films with subtitles that make no sense (clowns flipping pancakes or soemthing) and end in -FIN-
but I digress…

I’ve bought tickets for me and three of my friends for the 7:15 tonight. Alas, it’s not in IMAX, but that’s not the worst thing in the world. I’ve only been to one other movie on opening night, and that was Star Trek: First Contact.
I think this is gonna be badass, and I can’t wait. The GWC Crue’s cast for this weekend is gonna be awesome. xD

I bought ‘regular’ tickets. I figured, if its good I will want to see it again, and the second time will be IMAX. if for some reason i don’t want to see it again, i am only out the 10.50

I got tickets for 7pm tomorrow. WTF? They are showing the movie today? ARGH! SO JEALOUS!

One thing about going that late was the atmosphere. Only real fans are going to stay out that late mid week so it was a good atmosphere. There must have been a fan picking the music before the showing. They played a couple of the themes, Star Trekking, The Ballad of Biblo Baggins and William Shatners version of Common People.
Whoa, can’t wait til it’s 7pm.

I have tickets for the 7 pm (EST) show here in town. No IMAX (barely even movie theaters here), though.
I’m a bit worried because our ride seems a bit nonchalant about finding seats. I’ll be quite peeved if we don’t get to sit together.
It’s 4pm PT and I’m guessing a large number of GWCers on ET are just beginning Star Trek right niow. Have fun !!
So it turns out I do in fact live in a smallish town that likes to think of itself as a city - I’ve been to midnight and opening day showings of other big sci-fi or fantasy films and there were always lines and people dressed up. Our theater wasn’t even half full. However, it was full of people we know - graduate students from other departments! :eeK:

I’m so seriously pissed right now. The frickin startrek.com site itself says 05.08.09 right there, along with IMDB, apple trailers, everywhere I happened to check, and now I’m sitting here with tickets I bought a week ago for the 8th showing and I find out it actually opened today?
