Sorry - having a GR moment. It will pass in a sec.

I have those micromachine models too! I had mostly the next-gen era ones though. To this day I’m still disapointed that I lost my Enterprise-D with the seperating sacuer.
I miss my Starfleet Battles models.
I dont think they are trying to make it an icon.
They have a more realistic looking ship for a modern movie, thats it.
They arent pulling a Lucas and going back and replacing old enteprise with this new one are they?
Yeah, that’s pretty much what they are doing. Cpt. Pike’s ship was the same exterior model as Kirk’s, excepting some details on the Bussard collectors (and this is supposedly in the Pike era, although it probably should be in the April era.) So unless there’s a very good story reason for the change, it doesn’t make any sense.
The nacelles I’ll forgive, those were routinely upgraded, but the entire secondary (lower) hull is different. It’s like if you did a movie about our naval U.S.S. Enterprise and the only thing that’s the same is the island (that building on the deck) but now it’s a hydrofoil catamaran.
Why do I imagine this is how 'talos spends most of his day at work?
“Pew pew pew…gotcha!”
As a Trek geek from way back, I have to say that was an awesome mouthful.
What Sean said.
The Klingons always had cooler looking ships.
Holy craap, I used to be so totally into Starfleet Battles. I still got all my stuff in the attic somewhere…gatherin’ dust
I still have mine, and trust me I still play with mine… LOL… still a kid at heart.

Ahh, the sheer joy of launching a salvo of photo torpedoes at a Klingon D7s weak rear shield. Photons take two turns to charge, but they pack a more powerful punch than the Klingon’s disruptors.
Agian, I am SUCH a geek
I had almost all those micro-machines, including the big special collector’s sets that came with limited edition models. And then all the stores in my area stopped carrying them. I find them on e-Bay quite often, but I’m too broke to pony up. I think I’ve got most of my collection in boxes somewhere; some of them I used ages ago creating my own version of Star Trek: Monopoly.
I’m such a geek, too, Thot.
Day. Night. Waking. Sleeping. Drunk. Sober. Sad. Happy. yeah u get it.
Let’s keep things in perspective, and focus on what really matters.
The Shat likes the New Enterprise, and that is that.
“This ship is ship shape”, says The Shat.
Hate to disagree with The Shat, but if the shape is what matters, why does the secondary hull look like an anal retentive’s half-empty toothpaste tube?
