The Golden Compass - 5/16 @ 8 PM Eastern

Walk like a gyptian~~ I wonder if their daemon is a bengal tiger.

Oh yeah, the ending of the third book was the most bittersweet end of a wonderful love story I’ve read in a long time.

I haven’t heard of the book until… 50 minutes ago. So far, it’s intriguing.

I’m very impressed with the imagery and music, to be honest!

OMG, the adults in Bolvanger are creeping me out!

So the anti-religious aspects are significantly toned down in the movie, right?

That nurse was horrible!

Great… it’s a kidnappy creepy school. Run away, River, run away! I mean, Billy!

I didn’t feel they were that blatant in the books, except that the Magesterium is evil. I felt it was completely overblown in the media. But I read it long before the hullabaloo, so I wasn’t really looking for it, either.

Serafina Pekkala!

Lyra knows who your ex is!

I loved the way the witches were portrayed in the books! And that was exactly how I pictured them too.

Yeah it was more that the Magisterium in the book was eviler and actively trying to impede scientific discovery that clashed with the Bible. Which religious groups perceived as anti-Catholic.

Yeeeehaw! It’s everyone’s favorite Texan, Lee!

Hey, it’s the cowboy stranger from the Big Lebowski. “The Dude abides…”

Huh. Whereas I just see that as history… Maybe that’s why I didn’t have such a problem with it.

I so want an armored bear.

I know, right? They’re awesome!

Probably hitting a little too close to home. :stuck_out_tongue:

I figured the media made more of it than it really was, as evidenced by the “fair & balanced” reporting of Fox News.

Me too. That was definitely what stuck with me the most about this movie, which apparently I don’t recall nearly as well as I thot I did.

This movie is just screaming to be made into an epic RPG. I would sooo play that.
