They DO keep asking him to join. Zombiehood is surprisingly an inclusive fraternity.
The hazing’s a bit rough, though.
So, “don’t just bury, always chop up and burn.”
I cannot stress this lesson strongly enough.
General rule of thumb: If you’re going to take your friends out into the woods and murder them, it’s probably best not to mark the graves.
As someone who’s played a fair share of first-person-shooters, I must say Ash’s doorway entry technique is really, really poor.
Ever see Return of the Living Dead? That turned out to be a really bad idea.
Which part did? The burying or burning?
I must say, this movie is really much better through headphones. The sounds and voices moving left and right is really kinda intense. I guess the same could be said of a great sound system, but I don’t have one of those.
Well, neither really worked, although the burning just made zombifying rain, so that’s pretty bad.
One thing’s for sure: Sam Raimi’s camerawork is just impeccable. He generates sense of danger, using very little music, or special effects, but simply by being kick-ass with camera.
Mmm… guacamole!
Yeah, even though those effects were pretty much play-do and rice pudding, it was still a really amazing scene overall.
Nice ending.
Congratulations on surviving the night, Ash. Life time of post-traumatic stress and other mental health problems await you.
Great ending. Steadi-cam with spooky sound effects, awesome.
This ending credits, when the music ends, and only the rustling sound of winds through trees can be heard, as the credit is still rolling by, over a pitch dark background…
Can you imagine if you were watching this in movie theater? This would be so damn freaky.
Not to mention disability, time-travel, and general insanity.
Hell, watching it in a dark room on my laptop was pretty freaky.
It’s been such a long time since I watched this. I still can’t get over how genuinely creepy it is.
Observation: Sam Raimi can make with 1/1000th the budget an incomparably better horror movie than anything I’ve seen in 20 years.
Another thing: Reproduction quality of this DVD is really remarkable. I don’t know if they re-balanced the color for the DVD, but color is really amazing, too.
I have to turn this DVD menu off. It keeps asking me to “join us”. I’m tempted to.
