The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) 1/1 @ 10 PM ET

 Yeah. Scary, cool.

Hey, she’s got planets to save. Who can keep track of one kid?

Good thing these threads have never veered off topic before.

And the kid would be fine as long as there were helpful strangers to be found.

Who, us? snerk

“Complete elimination of aggression.”

That doesn’t sound tyrannical at all.

Yup…nice short story.

Probably one of my top five scifi movies of all time. Pretty damned much perfect.

Gotta love the high wasted look of the 50’s

So, newbies, what did you think? Awesome or really awesome? :stuck_out_tongue:

Clap clap great movie.

I did not even fall asleep.

He makes a good point about laws and their enforcers, tho.

Omgs that’s funny

I reitterate, I love this movie.

I wonder what the Crue will have to say?? Junk…Bad hair?..

I am most impressed! What a great movie!

Yeah… but let’s not forget another lesson Science Fiction has tried to teach (i.e. BSG, DUNE, Terminator, etc.), don’t build ro-butts that can annihilate your ass.

Consider the times, though. Mutually-assured nuclear destruction preserved peace between the US and the Soviet Union. The logical extension of that is a force so powerful that any war, anywhere would utterly destroy its combatants. Better not to have any wars at all, then.

Good night all.

I am impressed as well. I thought this was goign to be 50’s cheesey schlock. Great story, good acting & tho the effects aren’t as good as they would be today, they are decent enough. I’m glad i finally watched.

Don’t get me wrong, I did really like the movie. I do, however, feel free to announce the themes I disagree with…
