Don’t listen for our sake, but there WILL be a quiz, and it WILL go on your permanent record.
I’m actually just getting into them. I heard Riot Nrrrd back in the day, when radio would play such things, but never followed up on them. Apparently I was missing out. Any band that had a song defending Pluto before the whole ‘demotion’ thing was worth listening to.
No. No it is not.
C’mon! All the ones I link to a free downloads! Broaden your tastes! By which I mean: make them more like mine.
We’re Comin’ to Kill Ya by Zachariah and the Lobos Riders
Just cause i’m in a goofy mood today:)
Devil’s Dance Floor by flogging molly
that’s life by Bono
Johnny Cash and Fiona Apple’s “Father and Son,” a cover of Cat Stevens’ song. Available as a non-protected mp3 file at Amazon.com for the low, low price of just $.99, as part of Cash’s “Unearthed” box, an amazing collection of leftovers from his latter-day American Recordings sessions.
If it doesn’t make you at least a little weepy, you’re some kind of prick. And I say that without judgment.
“Hey” by the Pixies
The live version from the death to the pixies compilation is the best version although there isn’t really a bad one
“Spacelord” by Monster Magnet. Really. It’s frakkin’ addictive.
“Space/Lord/Mother/Frakker!!”
Henrietta by The Fratellis
Lucky With Disease by elbow
“Hold me now” - Thompson Twins
“And With Just A Quarter Tony Saves The Last Human Family (w/Iron Man Tease)” by That 1 Guy
And yes, I have a legally recorded (by me on Nov. 2, 2003) taper copy which you can have if you ask really nicely. It’s sweet stuff.
Opeth - The Grand Conjuration
Shadow, welcome to the boards. Glad to see a little metal. I’m clearly partial to thrash, so here’s my two cents…
New Exodus is surprisingly good. “The Garden of Bleeding” is my pick.
And I’d be remiss to not mention Destructor’s “Skuil Splitter,” a power-thrash retro-hesher. http://www.myspace.com/destructor
Neith of which may be your thing if you’re into Opeth, but hey.
If metal’s not your thing, let’s kick it old school with Public Enemy’s “Can’t Truss It.”
Happy Thanxgiving, all.
I haven’t heard the new Exodus, but I heard it’s good. 3 of my favorite bands are Soilwork (though their new one is kind of a stinker), Nevermore, and Opeth, so that should give you an idea of my tastes. I’ll listen to pretty much everything besides country and gangsta rap, both of which do absolutely nothing for me.
