Terra Nova

Yes Dino’s on tv great. Need more story to get it rolling. The son seems to if not leading the 6’ers is heavily involved with them. Something tells me there are more then Dino’s on the planet 85 million years ago. Who or what we have yet to see. Sleestack anyone? Bring it on!

My husband and I were able to finally sit down and watch. We both enjoyed it and look forward to next episode. I thought they set up a lot of intgrigue and I am looking forward to seeing where they take it.

I dug it. If I were in high school again I probably would be into it a lot more. The kid characters were featured heavily in the pilot, which I don’t really relate to much anymore, however, I do enjoy seeing bratty rule breaking kids get CHOMPED BY DINOSAURS! It was a little slow to build, since they took a full two hour spot, but I like the direction of the story, they set up an interesting mystery, there’s lots of characters set up so there should be something for everyone, and they ended with crazy dinosaur chomping action. I like the fact that there’s a defected group of humans that control a primary resource. It adds a cool Mad Max element to the show.

I’ll keep watching for as long as it’s on, which probably isn’t a big commitment the way things sound, but I’ll do my part to keep it going.

It was ok, not great. I don’t see it lasting, but I’ll watch a few more. The CGI doesn’t seem quite up to scratch either. I think Jurassic Park did a better job and that was 16 years ago or so?.

I actually enjoyed the pilot quite a bit. I know there were articles about how bad the cgi dinos were, but I never thought that watching it. In fact I thought that for a TV budget everything looked pretty good. Especially some of the aerial establishing shots. Compared to some sci-fi shows, this one looked nice to me.

Don’t forget Time Travel and a Lost/Fringe type mystery.

I definitely enjoyed the second hour of the pilot for it’s character development. I saw the first hour at SDCC and had some character issues myself. But the second hour steps in and you see the relationship between Col Taylor and Sky. The mysteries of Col Taylor’s son. The 6’ers will definitely provide the tension of a built-in rival. And don’t forget we will get to see more of Hope Center in the coming season. This is definitely a show that has great promise in my opinion.

I’ve watched the Pilot 3 times now (4 if you count the 1st hour I saw at SDCC).

watched and like it so far.

Some holes in the concept that I hope get slowly revealed while the world is filled out. I’m willing to suspend my disbelief for a while and enjoy the ride.

Of course if it runs 6 seasons and ends with them all being in limbo because they died on episode 1, I won’t be happy Bob … not happy

To be honest the dinosaurs are probably the least interesting part of the show for me so far. For me, the dinosaurs fit the place of ‘that natural danger’ out there that’s beyond the character’s control. Sort of like the waves surrounding the island in Castaway or the icy water in Titanic or like The Reverend Sean’s hand in Photoshop.

They’ll never just reuse a plot idea like that!

I enjoyed it, but I thought it had some issues. I do get the feeling it will get better as it goes. Then get cancelled.

As for the FX, I kept hearing about how expensive it was, but it would like amazing, bla bla bla. It looked good, but no better then SGU, Caprica, Battlestar, etc. It also kind of made me miss Stargate for some reason. :frowning:

It grabbed me. There is something missing—the dark side of the D-bag from Avatar? They better just jump in or I may got watch How I Met Your Mother

This is exactly the same way The Walking Dead is. The focus isn’t on the zombies, but rather the interaction of the characters as they try to survive in this new, deadly, environment. Here, the characters are not just trying to survive this new harsh evironment, but they’re, supposedly, trying to do so in a way that doesn’t doom the planet all over again. I’m into it so far.

The main plot hasn’t really moved along much, but we’re getting some good story of the week stuff in my opinion and they’re giving us some good detail to flesh out the world they’re in, and where veryone stands. It reminds me of The X-Files, or Fringe, where you have the “monster of the week” episodes. This past episode’s monster was the amnesia virus, but there’s a larger plot that will come to a head after a few seasons. For the Xfiles, it really broke out in the 5th season with the government conspiracy stuff. In Fringe, it wasn’t until the third season that the meat of the William Bell story broke. If this show can hang on I feel all this establishing work will pay off.

What does this have to do with the plot of Lost?

Agreed 100%!

I enjoy the show and want to love it, however it feels like they are pulling a “Quikster”. I know it’s early but we really need a “Walkabout” episode if they want to lock us in. The best parts of the story are being neglected while focusing on this family I feel nothing for. The show is called “Terra Nova” not “The Shannon Family”. We know so little about what this community is, how it works and the people in it. There is a huge potential for stories but the “problem of the week” format is not working well for me. They should move the focus to Taylor who is the only thing holding the show together IMO.
