Star Wars Toys

While all the girls collected My little ponys, and guys collected transformer.s…I collected star wars action figures!

I’m not sure if I have the same Falcun that they ewere talking about on the GWC but I had somthing like that…where the top would come off. It even had apart of the tile left up so you could hide people there. Now, the death star thing aI had craved for and craved for. But when I got it and opeened it…it sucked. My acion figures would never fit in there!

Oh and did anyone else have those huge X-wings I had a big one, and a small one. I liked the small one because for no appearent reason, I’d put Leah in it haha (the other one had luke in it, but he was like attached to his seat).

Of course you had the actual people. I had Leah chilloing out in her little bounty hunter suit. I had Luke dressed up like the guy he was in A new hope. And oh, I had Han in his vest, and in his black jacket that he wore in “Empire strikes back”, man he was so hot. I had the Organge jump suit verhsion of Luke, and the Luke and Han acitonf igures where they were dressed up in there little snow suits lol.

My brother was into SW back when Empire came out and it was the first movie he saw. He had a ton of the toys and of course, my mom got rid of them. Somehow the Sy Snootles and B-Wing pilot slipped through the cracks. She was the worst action figure ever! Those chicken feet of hers made it impossible for her to stand. Anyway, I’ve always been a huge collector ever since I was in the 2nd grade and she learned her lesson to not throw away our toys lol. It’s also cool that when my little cousin comes over, the toys he wants to play with most are my old SW action figures from the mid 90’s, even though he has a ton of the newer ones. I guess it’s true that “Star Wars is Forever” lol.

Check out my collection.

Man Emily you bring back some memories. I had one of the Xwings that you could push a button on the back and the entire front of the ship would crumble like it was crashing into something then when you let go,the rubber band (or whatever it was) would tighten and the ship would become whole again. Man that Xwing was forever crashing

My favorite SW figures had to be the Lando in the bounty hunter outfit and Boba Fett. Man was he cool. I also had the Luke from “empire” in his tan outfit that was completely sweet. I liked Luke cuz he fit in almost any of the playsets or vehicles.

Speaking of fitting in, I was always frustrated that Chewy didn’t fit in anything. I dug that he was tall but his hands weren’t shaped right to hold stuff (except his crossbow)and he was a touch too tall for most of the vehicles. It sucked.

Come to think of it - another one of my favorite characters that I got a bit late, but still when I was a kid, was a snowtrooper. I have a pic of a lifesized one in my Flickr pool if you’ve never seen one, but they were the shizzle. Snow troopers just looked mean.

I could gush about this stuff forever.

Note* Frakk’n sweet collection Ty Fighter, I bow to your worthyness!

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, there’s about 50 sw action figures buried in the sarlack pit behind the bushes at my parents house.

No kidding! Even the 90’s and the Ep III Chewie could never fit into the Falcon. The way they have to angle his legs to stand forced Han and Chewie to play Larry Craig in the cockpit. lol

Ok… Does anyone know what the deal is with the old R2D2… Even as a seven year old I knew that this droid was jacked up.

There must be some kind of story… Lead Paint? LSD? Chinese workers who could not read the documents.?

I think R2 suffered from ‘attack of the killer budget’ syndrome. Kenner didn’t spend a whole ton of cash on these things. They made them the best they could with the budget they had. Your right though… it did kinda suck compared to today’s models.

lol I don’t know, but one thing’s for sure, it’s worth a small fortune. I don’t know if any of you guys get Star Wars Insider, but a few issues back they had a section on the infamous foreign bootlegs. Pretty funny stuff.

Also, while we’re on the subject of SW collecting, go to the SW official site, click on “Video” at the top left, “Exclusives”, then “Visits to Rancho Obi- Wan”. Steve Sansweet works for Lucasfilm and has the world’s largest private collection collection ever. Really cool stuff.

Woah. Thanks for sharing Ty. That one on the left brings back memories. At the time I didn’t realize how craaaaaaaaaaaaaapy it was. It was my Star Wars figure and I thought it was cool. Compared to the newer one it just looks weak.

BTW, I don’t know if this is a picture you took or found, but I have the distinct memory of the old R2D2’s head going “click-click-click” when you turned it. Can anyone confirm?

I was in a used toy store this morning and they had two Millenium Falcons, one Death Star, one Imperial Transport and countless Rebel Transports. Tons and tons of action figures, too. It was heaven.

A toy store nirvana you mean!!! Holy Frak thats cool. I wish they had that kind of cool where I live.

Yep, I just tested Chuck’s and it does click

Next time I’m in there, I’ll ask if I can take pictures of their stock.

I have both of the old and new R2. The old does the clicking when you turn his dome. There are some of the new sculpts that do the same. As a kid R2’s sticker always came off because R2 had to go swimming in the swamp. I have two stickerless R2s that I found at Thrift stores in past years. So my R2 wasn’t the only R2 going for a swim.

You are the man Sean and Ty, thank you. I so feel the need to do what everyone else has been suggesting…going into Mom’s attic and seeing what still is there. I strongly suspect all my old Star Wars figures got chucked a long time ago…but one can hope.

A fun fact that may have been unique to my little sister and I…we discovered if you dropped the original figures in water they would stand. We would fill up a bath tub and drop all our Star Wars figures in. It was great because they would all stand on their own, and if you created currents by running your hand through the water they would move on their own. We thought it was awesome.

Wow Sean you know just how I feel …gotta…repersent lol

While I realize this isn’t an old toy, I was walking around the mall yesterday and decided to look around the lego store. This was my first trip into one, and I am quickly realizing that all the malls without one of these just suck because this is just an awesome store. Anyways…

I noticed this and thought you guys would like to drool over it as well. Comes out tomorrow, and is limited to only 5 per person, but I think one would do me just well. But it’s a Millenium Falcon! http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=10179&cn=416&d=322

Sadly, it’s an expensive little toy…but still looks really cool…

…and thus do the heavens part and the angels sing. For it is the merging and birth of two of my favorite types of toys. Lego & Falcon. I’m not crying…really i’m not… it’s just dusty in here… really dusty.

So I had to come here first and do a quick post. Do you remember what happened to your star wars toys? If you are lucky enough to still have them, then you are blessed. Most of my friends destroyed theirs (i.e. blew them up, set them on fire or buried them in their backyard). Not so with me. I kept mine in fairly nice condition. The following is a list of the major playsets and vehicles that i owned (i will omit the list of figures because i had so many).
The Millennium Falcon, The Death Star, The Cantina, The X-WIng, The Sand Speeder, Slave-1, The Twin-Pod-Clod-Car, The Tantan, Yoda’s hut and swamp, The Sand Crawler and the list probably goes on but memory fails. You may ask yourself, “Do you still have them?” The answer, unfortunately, is no. When i was in college in 1993 my mom thought that it would be nice to pack it all up and send it to one of my cousin’s that happened to be a collector of Star Wars toys. Was i included in this decision? No. How much money did my mom get from my cousin? NOTHING. In fact my mom was nice enough to pack it all up and ship it on her dime. That’s right. My mom, in a sense, paid someone to take my priceless childhood star wars toys from me.
I’ve been wanting to get that off my chest for 14 years!
