Star Wars Ep.6: Return of the Jedi

Not me. I’m generally not thrilled with the special additions, but I always hated both those songs.

(and yes, I meant “additions” not “editions”)

If “Jedi Rocks” had been an improvement over “Lapti Nek,” that would’ve been one thing, but “Lapti Nek” at least tried to feel like something otherworldly or futuristic. It was no “Cantina Band,” but it was close. “Jedi Rocks” sounds no different from anything you’d hear on a Top 40 station today (well, maybe – I, being an old fuddy-duddy, don’t actually listen to Top 40 stations today – but I think you get my drift).

I will concede that Williams’ new score for the extended conclusion is a supeior piece to “Yub Yub.” But the nostalgia factor – oh, poor “Yub Yub”!

I didn’t realize it until I read it on line somewhere, but the “Boss Nass Victory Parade” at the end of Ep. I is the “Emeperor’s Theme” transposed into a major key. Listen closely – it’s true! Williams does some pretty neat stuff with his scores.

I liked Yub Nub… and I know all the words. I sing along… ::duck::

I also prefer Lapti Nek. Plus “Jedi Rocks?” C’mon, that’s the stupidest name ever. Well maybe not the stupidest, but it’s definitely not a good name. We have no frakking clue what Lapti Nek means. Plus it’s so… seventies-ish but not.

I just adore the music from Star Wars, in some ways (well all ways) it’s my favorite part. I sing along with the orchestral cues (read: when I’m watching by myself, I don’t inflict that on others!)

The lyrics translate into Galactic Basic Standard as follows:

Feel my body growing

My bones have started glowing, ooh

Wow!

The time has come for showing

That I’ll shape you up and work you out

My body feels excitin’

My soul is synthesizin’

My whole frame is jumpin’

I’m workin’ out and havin’ fun

Work it out, you’ve got to move your soul

You should call that in for the Episode I podcast. I’m sure the GWC Trinity would love that tidbit.

In the word of Obi-Wan…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Damn, I’ve missed most of the Star Wars Frak parties—but hopefully I’ll make this one.
Sunday afternoon at 4:00 on a July day for me well----Let me put it this way. The Force may be strong, but the odds that the kids, the wife, the house or the yard will be demanding my attention —and probably all four at once—are pretty frakkin’ high.:frowning:

We could change the time. Would that help?

I wouldn’t want the time changed just for me. But as a general rule–and this may be true of a lot folks with families----later at night is better, because the kids (and sometimes the wife) are asleep.
Luckily I’ve got these great wireless headphones so I can watch a movie that’s meant to played loud as loud as I want—and Star Wars movies are meant to be played LOUD.

Good point. When I first set these up my idea was to try to have the time so that everyone could watch them together at a reasonable time. I am sure if we do any more community frak partys we can decide a time that will work for everyone.

This one is actually in my Netflix queue on time this week. Barring any shipping issues, I shouldn’t have to “watch” along from memory again.

i prob could change the time. i wouldn’t want anyone to miss it. so what time should i change it to?

Going by the theory that probably night is better for most people --in terms of finding time to be at your computer and watch the video----I’d suggest 11 pm East Coast time.

11 EST seems a bit late for me… is 9 or 10 too early for the other time zones?

 WHAT?

Mon dieu, I love y’all, but a rewatch at 5am is [French]impossible[/French].

But let the majority decide.
