Hehe same here warts and all.
me as well
we’ll be here
Thanks again folks, it’s been fun.
See you all next week!
Sort of surprising that the movie he was unconscious through didn’t do better.
I thought the Jedi could sense the Force in others. Did they ever explain how they never could tell that Palpatine was insanely powerful?
As soon as I saw him, I knew he’d be responsible for evil and devastation on a massive scale.
Why didn’t anyone notice the scorching from the Force Lightning?
They did have all of those trusting younglings at their disposal.
Stupid deaths run in the family.
This is the stock they use to breed the ultimate army?
Pretty hard to do without a head…
An interesting article that explains the mystery of the Clone Army order and the removal of Kamino from the Jedi archive.
Sorry Tighfighter and Casilda, but I couldn’t find that Star Wars politics article I read; I don’t even know who wrote it. However, I did find another article. I would warn you the essay may (or may not) seem long. But basically the author makes the argument that the Empire was more progressive (though not sure if that is the word to use here) than the Rebel Alliance.
Thanks for trying Lucky. I’ll have to give that a read tomorrow.
I posted this in the Podcast 106 thread, but thought I would give it a home here as well. Count Dooku as The Wicked Witch (inspired by the Frack Party).
I agree with you Rowan the stuff with Jango and then from the final kiss on the movie is one long fangasm.
No ones gonna throw nothing. We all love Star Wars. If you can’t take the piss outta those you love, who can you ridicule? There are no movies like Star Wars. There are many that try and copy but nothing even come close, nor should it. Star Wars gets the blood pumping, entices the imagination, and takes you to a galaxy far, far away. It’s got camp, fart jokes, and over-the-top grandiose dialogue and characters. You are transported from your mundane life for a few hours and we all love that. The nitpikking is all part of the fun.
I’m not a whiny fanboy. Been there, done that. When I first saw the prequel films I was amazed that with less money and experience, Lucas made an awesome film. With more money and abundant resources and a bunch of yes-people, he took it too far and pissed off and befuddled many fans. Over time, the prequels have grown on me.
Lucky: wow. just wow.
I know it’s not the right witch, but I still imagine Dooku with sparkly red shoes
Lucky, that is Awesome!!!
Thanks Casilda and Lady D. It took me a bit to figure how to get the flying monkeys in the picture.
I remember after watching the movie the first time I was glad there weren’t as many groan worthy moments from Ep I, but after more time I began to see this one as the least rewatchable of the series. I found myself not caring that much about many of the plot details and I wasn’t as impressed by the action scenes as I was from TPM. I thought the light saber duels with Darth Maul were more compelling than the one here with Yoda. Also, after seeing the last battle scene in the arena a couple of times the locations of the blue screen in relation to foreground characters becomes quite apparent. It feels like an over-reliance on computer graphics seemed to lead Lucas to skip the basic choreography work necessary to make an action scene truly compelling. Special effects-wise these movies were not helped by being released concurrently with the Lord of the Rings movies.
On a similar note, one thing that really bummed be out about AotC was at the debriefing session at Denny’s after the opening day midnight showing my friend was talking about how much he was looking forward to fight between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan. He had read that the it was taking place in the rain, and he thought the effects of water on light saber would be a totally cool effect. The sizzle and steam as Obi-Wan fought would have been truly cinematic. But, alas, it was an opportunity lost…
Okay, now I’ll stop my whining
