agreed. Year of Hell is what the whole show should’ve been
“it’s quite harmless”
let’s forget the gazillion transporter malfunctions!
I do like that she asks his consent, though.
Yes, Voyager (like Enterprise) was a missed opportunity in some ways. I think if Voyager had come AFTER RDM’s Battlestar, they would have had the notion to make Voyager more a desperate, girtty struggle to survive ----like BSG and SG-U.
We saw some of that with the USS Equinox episodes.
Year of Hell was pretty frakkng great.
I must say, I never really warmed to Neelix’s character.
it was love/hate for me…mostly hate, but I cried when he left
They had a perfect opportunity with the Marquis and Federation mixture to add conflict within. I understand the whole making it a family with Janeway as Mommy but many families have tons of conflict. Instead they made the show about Voyager VS the Delta Quadrant. I liked when Seska sided with the Kazon. It would have been nice for some of the crew to “abandon” ship and shack up with Delta Quadrant folks. Oh well.
Neelix singing in the bath? oh my. poor Tuvok.
oh God Neelix’s suit. so unattractive.
Hey! Tuvok! Does Neelix fur go all the way down?
It’s like a wrestling match between Huggybear and Snoop Dogg.
And Voyager’s issues with the Kazon have a root in Neelix’s trick on them. meh.
Neelix has wasted a lot of water in this episode…including shooting those things.
I’m thinking the Kazon would have conflicted with the Voyager regardless. Kazon’s are stealers of technology.
the Fremen would not be pleased.
I remember comparing characters while watching this.
Neelix/Tuvok – Quark/Odo
Paris/Kim – Geordi/Data
I think that was when I first starting hearing Star Trek is getting stretched thin.
Conflict yes. But for whatever reason I’d prefer it be a conflict of Voyager’s own making.
Te he he. Nice. Good call
an irradiated crust? that’s not very appetizing
Say what you want about Voyager but I would take even the worst episode (…well maybe not the worst…Threshold is unbearable to watch…) but any other Voyager episode instead of any reality show.
You know how Sherlock and other BBC shows have 3 episodes, like mini-series of old. I really wanted Star Trek to continue with that format. I would have loved a mini-series every year. That means we would have had at least 6 mini-series since Enterprises cancellation instead of just one movie reboot.
The efforts to vary the new series from past Star Trek productions also had a direct influence on this episode in particular. Michael Piller stated, “When we started the pilot, I felt that with all the psychological stuff we had done on Deep Space Nine we could let loose and have a wild ride and adventure. My push in the pilot was to let it all hang out in a real old-fashioned adventure story.”
it is fairly adventure-y
