I thot it was a cool, shocking move to transport 'em all off the ship to this weird farm place.
Agreed. DS9 was the best Star Trek pilot ever, but…I tell ya…TNG was the most anticipated. It was quite a moment when that first came on TV. I remember exactly where I was
The problem I have with Voyager as a series is that every thing had to be spectacular. It had to be flashy and explosive. There was lack of character development except for the Doctor and later, Seven. I think Chakotay suffered most from that.
Female baldness on Star Trek The Motion Picture was a pretty cool thing.
That’s a fair point. The character development they did for Seven (which was great) they didn’t do for characters like Chakotay.
Generally though, I have more affection for Voyager than DS9, because to me good Star Trek means trekking around on a ship. The ship is main thing.
tee hee hee I love Tuvok’s reveal and demeanor toward Chakotay
Not sure I understand this question?
I like a undercover spy stuff.
As in on the other Enterprises, we never start with destruction and death do we? I mean sure Q wants to screw humanity but it’s not violent in the same way.
I liked that Janeway was scientist thru and thru. She is totally approaching the issue analytically. She doesn’t punch anyone (ala Kirk) or take control (ala Picard) or question motives (ala Sisko). She is curious and fascinated, yet concerned. I liked that even though so of the folks I was watching the Pilot with felt she put her crew in jeopardy by not taking action.
Not just phaser rifles… phaser COMPRESSION rifles. Yeah, baby. Kick some ass.
I’ve always liked that too about Janeway. Nice contrast from other Captains.
She’s brainy. But just as decisive. Curious like Spock was curious too.
greetings!! got waylaid cooking what’d I miss?
Yup. Although…as Talos said, DS9 did start on a note of tragedy, loss and death.
Janeway’s hair got tussled, but it’s okay now. She put it up in a bun.
I really enjoy how distinct her process is from the other captains.
LOL! don’t know if I’ll be able to drag Topgun along for this particular ride. he doesn’t look convinced
I agree. I like the adventure stories. The problem was rehashing the same plot week after week. It became a alien-of-the-week trying to kill us fest. That gets boring since the aliens weren’t around long enough to get interesting and the characters suffered from that because they had to focus on the aliens.
I liked this pilot and especially the Caretaker, an interesting alien. Voyager is either really good or really bad.
oh my, Neelix.
Who couldn’t love Janeway! She’s awesome. And not a pussy tea drinker like Picard.
She’s COFFEE all the way
