Hey Folks, newbie here, making my first post.

Been listening to the podcast for a while, but my first foray into the forums :slight_smile:

Anyways, noticed y’all have this nice game forum here, but i didn’t see anything about STO. For those that preordered we get to start playing tomorrow (Jan 29), and it will be available in stores come Tuesday (Feb 2).

Anyone else here play beta? anyone planning to check it out? I ask, as i’m a WoW raider, but will be playing STO as well. None of my guild is going over, just me and a few friends, so we are looking to meet up with some like minded “mature” folks to hang out with in game. if you do get in STO, hit me up, i’ll be Cam@uubergeek in game (yea, they have a wacky chat system)

welcome to the forum. don’t worry, there are plenty of gaming enthusiasts there. there are plenty of people jumping onboard the STO ship.

Just a little update to those who haven’t been keeping up for a while… Cryptic is beta testing “The Foundry” on the Tribble (test) server right now. What the Foundry amounts to is an interface where players can flex their creative juices and generate game content (missions) for all users. This is only the second MMO that I know of that allows user generated content into their game.

I’ve played with it in it’s beta state and it is a nice feature. It is limited in what you can do with it right now, but the developers have a malleable roadmap listing new features to be added. If they get all or even just most of the features implemented into the Foundry, it will lead to an explosion in new content.

Cloaked Intentions had a nice start. The Devs introduced an entire mission based on shuttle play (as well as a new type of shuttle) that included a whole new environment for ship play reminscent of the Death Star v2.

One of the voice overs in the mission sounded like a very nicely tweaked text2speech program but, it turns out that it was a voice actress. Maybe it was some bad sound file compression or something. And he I was, getting impress with modern technology. : P

If you play STO, try this one out. At the very least you can get a free ship slot out of it.

On an impulse buy, I have an STO account. Still DLing the game.
