Star Trek (2009): first official pics

I hadn’t heard about the time-traveling angle. My impression–and honestly, kind of my hope–is that it’s a reboot, ala Batman Begins. Maybe it’ll be both: Spock goes back to the past and changes the timeline so that it’s no longer the continuity we’re used to. Similar, maybe, but different enough that future writers can do whatever they want with it. Star Trek could use the breath of fresh air, quite frankly.

I’ll admit the “fresh air” is definitely overdue, but that could basically mean that all of the series (with the notable exception of Enterprise) and all the previous movies basically never happened. So how comfortable are we with a franchise-wide retcon, a la Crisis on Infinite Earths?

It’s odd that it would feel so weird (and it would) if they were to rejigger everything such that the events in the previous series and movies didn’t actually occur considering the fact that in reality they didn’t actually occur…

Well, of course not. They’re hundreds of years in the future.

And don’t forget, at least one (and probably only one), “I’m a doctor, not a…”

Actually, they’re probably shouldn’t be too many “easter eggs” or catchphrases, but a few well-placed ones like seasoning in the soup would surely be nice.

My favorite came from Robert Picardo ad-libbing his character’s frustration at being shut on and off at will by the crew: “I’m a doctor, not a nightlight!” He apparently came up with that during his audition for the part, not knowing that it was a McCoy catchphrase.

“No! Say Nuclear Wessels! Say Nuclear Wessels!!”

Thus proving Robert Picardo’s awesomeness. I did not know that – what a great anecdote. He was the best thing about VOY, imo.

Now boldy go and click:D

I heard about this site. Is there some kind of code/combination you have to do to get all four cameras working? And do they show us anything more than what we’ve seen in the teaser trailer?

BTW, that’s a really cool choice for a Matrix avatar.

I think you can reload to get random cameras, but always three, working.

There’s not much more than you’ve seen though.
