Watch online at CBS.
This is just the first few moments of the original treatment from 1966:
In the original treatment, Lieutenant Richard Beckwith, a drug dealer selling the illegal “Jewels of Sound”, kills Lieutenant LeBeque after he threatens to expose Beckwith’s activities. This happens after LeBeque realises he almost caused a major accident while under the influence of the ‘Jewels’. His crime is witnessed, he is court-martialled and sentenced to death. The rules also require that he be executed on an uninhabited planet.
Totally different show.
Stop moving the camera! This ain’t no old ship on the ocean!!
“Something…or someone.”
Love that.
They ain’t kidding with that slogan: “Only CBS”
They’ve got every online outlet for watching TOS on complete lockdown.
Dicks.
Kids. Don’t do Drugs.
Especially a whole vial of cordrazine.
Notice Sulu’s smoky eye makeup.
A few drops make you happy and alive. A whole vial makes you crazy and super-strong.
Tricky stuff, indeed.
Got the DVDs. Already paid the man.
Love McCoy’s Judo chop.
How in the world did they get from there to here?
That usually denotes evil. Is he evil Sulu?
I like that McCoy knows precisely the correct karate chop to knock a man out instantly.
The story behind making this episode is as good as the episode itself.
Hard to tell. He was unconscious at the time.
No goatee, but he could just be particularly tricky.
Finally, Uhura gets some lines.
You go, girl!
It’s weird that Spock and Kirk’s legs make a shadow on the Guardian when it blinks. Then when they walk to the front the outlines are still there. Weirds me out every time.
And she gets to wear red, beam down to the planet, and actually beam back up alive.
Love Kirk’s direction.
Spock, would you please just nerve pinch McCoy?
It’s a shame they don’t have phasers with stun settings.
