“Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly
rewarded. You’ll find it an effective combination.”

Oh my Gods!! What’s Laura Roslin doing on the cover of that Cage DVD!!!
Oh wait. My mistake. That’s the bald, big headed Talosian, not Roslin.

I think RDM made a similar comment the first time they tried the bald cap thing. Girl has a lot of hair.

Yes! I forget which episode commentary/podcast it was, but Ron Moore was hilarious the way he said it. It was like “Mary in the bald cap looks like a Taloooooosian. We all remember the Taloooosians.”
Moore is a true hard core Trekkie, and seems like a guy who knew Star Trek inside and out even before he worked on TNG.

He also has a habit of saying things differently than everyone else.

anybody have a link to where I can watch online? netflix doesn’t seem to know what I’m talking about

Hi Lady D,

Netflix has The Cage as Star Trek: The Original Series Volume 40, but since the Frak party is tonight, I assume that is too late.

If you know anyone that has the ST:TOS on DVD in the red, blue and yellow egg like packages, it is on the last disc of series 3 (red series).

It is available for 1.99 from Amazon Unbox here: http://www.truveo.com/Star-Trek-The-Cage-Pilot/id/1028525352

I also found a number of copies available “alternate methods”

Sorry, I couldn’t find the whole thing available online. :frowning:

thanks!! I’ll look into that

Thanks Smarx! I tried looking for it on Unbox but had trouble finding it. So thanks for the link.
I’ve been try to get it via “other means” since 3 in the afternoon yesterday, but it’s been sloooooow.

Wow. Took me over 24 hours to “ahem” (cough) acquire “The Cage”.

It’s a popularity contest. You probably could have aquired the last BSG in forty minutes.

So, as per usual, :15?

No one asked, but what version are we watching?

Original, Restored, iTunes, VHS?

looks like I’m going to be watching whatever version they’ve got on Amazon

I’m not, but I got it in my head. IYKWIM.

(Trying to formulate a Number One joke that isn’t just icky.)

could have “acquired” it by now if I’d gotten home a little earlier :frowning:

I’ve got The Menagerie in my head, but the other bits I’ve only seen once

:15 is good

One of my favorite Star Trek stories is connected with ‘The Cage’. So it’s 1964 and Roddenberry is trying to get his pilot off the ground. The studio won’t buy into it. So he heads to a sci-fi convention in the hope of getting potential backing.

They setup a room and projector and everyone in the place is all exciting about seeing free content (what a concept!?!). Anyway, the film starts and their is some dude talking up a storm in the back of the theatre. As each minute passes Roddenberry is getting more and more pissed. Finally he walks over to the gentlemen and tells him to shut up.

When Gene walks back to his place feeling satisfied with himself and confidant that his show might be accepted by the scifi community. He is then approached by one of the organizers who inform him, “You just told Isaac Asimov to shut up.”

My version has no Rodenberry intro
