Star Trek 12/1 @ 10 PM ET

Green boobies in HD. Thank You!

“Space is danger and disease wrapped in darkness and silence”.

My favorite line if the whole damn movie. The delivery plays a big part. LOL!

Who’s up for frakkin’ some of his other work? Smoking Aces, etc.?

Unnecessary, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Ah, my homeworld!

how very ethnocentric for the Federation to give their planets Ellis Island names :stuck_out_tongue:

Boing.

Uhura

Yeah, but Bones is short for Sawbones (a nineteenth century term, IIRC.) Love the divorce bit, didn’t need another explanation for the nick.

Damn dude. Just damn.

I totally don’t believe the apple was an accident

I am totally with you, Pike. It’s like fingernails on a chaukboard for me.

Bones is short for the nautical term “Sawbones” and my take is that Kirk would have named anyone who was his CMO “Bones”.

The “Bones” bit in this movie is slap in the face to Rodenberry’s original notion of Star Trek as “Horatio Hornblower in Space”

Me either. Too coincidental.

Fascinating. Can’t believe I’ve never heard that before.

Indeed.

Kirk.

Well, in the original timeline they didn’t have much info to go on. Not sure what the difference is in this timeline, although they seem to have dodged the “nobody has ever seen one” bit.

According the JJ Abrams commentary it was totally a coincidence. Which is disspointing.

I know that. You know that. But that’s for all the noobs in the audience so Kirk can use Bones.

I know. I don’t believe it.

I choose not to acknowledge that portion of the commentary.

I know. I know. I put that part of me on a short leash.

I totally recomend Diane Duane’s Trek novels which immerse deep into Romulan culture.

Such an awesome twist to have had Spock be the K Maru test-runner. Just awesome!

It may not have been completely intentional, but it might have been subconsciously inspired. That’s the story I choose to believe.
