“Why is the sky black?”

giggle

“Tomorrow will be your first day of school, Lal.”

gigglesnort

You mean naked Lal? Android kiddie porn!

When Data meets with the teacher and how the children treat Lal is really messing me up.

tears

Too close to home.

“Without understanding humor, I have somehow mastered it.”

Love that, particularly how she appears to be proud of it.

This moment between Data and Bev is so touching.

“Now why do I find that so hard to believe?”

So much heart. Great writing.

The admiral is getting the full frontal Picard!

What a douche!

Ooooo, he’s an Admiral. Makes sense.

“You have exceeded my capabilities.”

Such a proud papa.

How can Data’s programming not master a frakkin contraction!?! C’mon!!

He can’t remember anything trivial without saying “accessing”, so it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

“He’s biting that female!” :eek::smiley:

“He is biting that female!!”

Your daughter is picking up random guys in bars.

Youthful rebellion has begun.

“I learned today that humans like to hold hands.”

sniff sniff

Whoopi Goldberg successfully fought to change a line of her dialog in the scene when Guinan was teaching Lal the facts of life from “when a man loves a woman” to “when two people are in love”, thereby further reinforcing the belief that in the 24th century, a person’s sexual orientation is unimportant; however, an attempt to place a same-sex couple in the background of Ten Forward was stopped at the last minute by producer David Livingston.

Still the final frontier, even in Trek. Le sigh. :frowning:

“Well most people behave themselves when they come here. If they don’t, I ask them to leave.”

That’s right. You tell 'im, Guinan!!

I love her logic about the “natural conclusion”. :stuck_out_tongue:

“I am scared.”
“You are scared, aren’t you?”

Yep, that’s why she’s the counselor.

“Thank you, Lal.”

The way Picard says that puts a smile on my face but once Lal exits I begin to haz a sad.

Better than her driving the ship, IMHO.
