I’d imagine a lot of this would be pretty scary at that age.
Shift in dimensions, from one world to the next. Got it. So basically the area was haunted and they imprisoned the parents?
Did you get my comment about Persephone? Eating the food of the spirit world makes you part of that world. Pan’s Labyrinth touched on that, briefly.
the 8-year-old was able to sit through the beginning of Princess Mononoke but lost interest. Damn short attention span of the youth today. Speaking of Princess Mononoke the puff balls return.
Hey, where were you last night, 'Talos? You missed the live podcast!
Ah. Read it but didn’t get it. Very myth novice. Thanx for explaining.
There is a lesson for the kids. Careful while running down the stairs.
I was there chatting. Talkshoe craaaped out and eventually my connection. I was beat and went to bed around midnight.
It is interesting to think about the differences in culture. I believe Japanese children would see it as more magical than scary.
I’m sure I’m missing a bunch of cultural and other symbollism. I wish there were some kinda tour guide.
She was very fascinated. She just hates tense moments in movies. She gets scared during Cinderella. “They’re gonna steal her glass slipper. AArrgghhh!!!”
I love the soot balls. It is genius how they pick up right away how to take advantage of her kindness.
Oh, sorry. Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. She was abducted by Pluto, god of the underworld, causing Demeter to neglect her duties, bringing on the first winter. Finally the other gods forced Pluto to release Persephone, so that the earth wouldn’t die, but she had eaten six pomegranate seeds while in the underworld, thereby binding her to it. A deal was made, that she would remain in the underworld one month for each seed and return to earth the other six months. While she gone, her mother mourned her loss, and nothing grows until she returns in spring.
That is too cute, sugoi!!!
hmm, how did I miss you? Weird.
I love the baby bit.
I bet the witch looks amazing on the large HD set.
All the flowing movement in that scene was amazing.
Especially with all stuff flying around.
Are all these humans children that were abandoned?
