“‘All people named Romans go to their houses’?”
All in all, I must say that I really like how they wrapped this season. Everyone who I really wanted to see punished for their incredibly bad behaviour got what they deserved. There was no shortage of the violence that viewers have come to expect (maybe a little too much when she’s hacking away at Ashur, but hey, they had to let her get in the beheading line, I suppose. Plus, I’m not disappointed at that as Ashur’s end. Evil man that he was.)
For all that he went through, I was ok with Oenomaus death, especially because he was immediately avenged and that sealed their relationship as brothers and friends, despite all that happened. Had it been any other enemy and Oenomaus not so weak and half blind, I wouldn’t have believed it anyway. A grand end for a grand man.
Most of all, I’m glad for Stephen D. Knight’s personal goal to wrap things up at the end of a season. You can see where future storylines will go, but there is a finality that some shows lack. I like endings.
