Smallville

Episode 509 - Lexmas
Why’d the girl shoot Lex?

Dad?
Mom of Christmas Future?

“We have enough politicians with their hands in the cookie jar.”
Very green Christmas for the midwest.
“What? We have a budget?”
Wait, Lana’s pregnant in Lex’s dream?
“Uncle Clark, make me fly.”
Are Chloe and Clark together in the dream? Sure seems that way.

Chloe using Clark’s speed to deliver presents?
“This isn’t Toys for Tots, it’s Toys R Us.”
Santa Clark? Awesome.

So, Clark talked the guy out of jumping, then he fell off the roof?
“Ho, Ho, Holy cow.”

Wow, awfully dressed up for a Christmas party.
Oh crap, either Lana or the baby is going to die and Lex is going to go darkside to avoid the suffering.
“How could I have grandchildren? I don’t have a son.” Asshole
So, there is no middle path? Like staying in the race but not going negative?

Huh, Super Santa? Wonder if he staged this whole thing to check out his new neighbor.

Lex, you made the same choice with Lionel’s vision in Season 2.

Love Shelby eating the cookies.

Yeah, he’s full on evil Lex now.
Wait, why’s Christmas before the election?

Well, they’re definitely trying some different episodes this season. This one worked. Not my favorite of the season, but not bad either.

that was a girl?

That line always gets me, hehe, the delivery is awesome.

this is actually one of my favorite episodes. it really gets me wondering if Lex could have been good had circumstances just been a little different.

say the story progressed the same way in Lex’s vision, even if Lana or the kid dies, he wouldn’t have the power to turn evil. So… it was his mom that turned him evil by showing too much?

Episode 510 - Fanatic
Assassin?
WTF, was that Lois with the sniper rifle?
Didn’t see Clark, but the bullet time suggests he was there.

President Girl seems like a crazy stalker.
Lionel outbid Lex and burned the evidence? Nice.

Lois as Jonathan’s campaign manager? This could be fun.

Nice touch that Clark’s worried about hurting Lana.

I don’t think assault is exactly what Lex had in mind, psycho.
Surprised Lex didn’t fire Martha from the Talon when Jonathan decided to run.
Lionel did a good job turning the conversation around on Martha there.

“So basically what you’re saying is that you’re afraid that… in the heat of the moment, you might… please don’t make me finish this sentence, Clark.”
Premature combustion?

“Trust me, this is about as close to my father as you want to get right now.”

She just killed her lackies? Psycho bitch.
Shaving her head?
Then showed up in Lex’s office naked?
“Though apparently I could use better security.” Took you 5 years to figure that out, Lex?

She’s going to make Lois shoot Jonathan?
Nice effect with the bullet going through the balloon on the way.
Good job, Lois.
“Better late than never.”

“Although I still would have preferred a bike for my 14th birthday.”

“Firefighters? I may have to tag along for that one.”
Martha’s going to take Lionel’s money and keep it from Jonathan?

Wouldn’t someone else have noticed the landing if an astronomy student could figure it out?

Pretty good episode. I appreciate the focus on the election and that the show has matured. I bet that in season 2 or so, psycho girl would have been a meteor freak.

the week isn’t complete with out a little freak.

i love it when they show off skills that Lois picked up from her military upbringing.

Lois and Chloe are just a load of fun this season.

Episode 511 - Lockdown
Nice try to escape from Lex’s advisor.
They’re looking for the ship?

“So when you said ‘Let’s get together and study’ you actually meant study?” :stuck_out_tongue:
Busted, Lana.

Ooh, the guy got maimed by the Kryptonians?

Almost sounds like Martha’s pushing Clark to tell Lana.
Jonathan’s no idiot, Lois. He’s going to figure it out.

Crap, Lex got shot for the second time this disc (Lexmas)

Jonathan, you’re going into politics. You’d better get used to people sidestepping your questions.

“Clark! Can you at least put on the brakes before you tornado my homework?”

“Just a hunch.” “You seem to have an awful lot of those.”

Damn, they killed Sheriff Obnoxious.

“You think I’d look better with hair?”

Clark shook the guy’s pop to create a distraction? That works.
“Damn, I wish I could do that.” Me too, Chloe. Would save a lot of time on the commute.

Nice move dropping those pipes on him, Lana.
Crap, the bomb got activated.
Awesome save with Clark running through the explosion.

And naturally, Clark saw them hugging.
And Chloe’s saying Clark should tell Lana too. Next episode?

Not a great episode, but it set a lot of stuff up between the election getting close and the push to let Lana know.

Lex got shot in the head a lot, i am amazed his head doesn’t look like cheese yet.

Episode 512- Reckoning
Scarf and gloves? Well, there’s snow on the ground, but I’m guessing Fortress.
“When you asked me if I believed in life on other planets, you had no idea how ironic that question was.”
He just collapsed a piece of charcoal into a diamond?
And heat visioned it to a ring? Awesome way of revealing his powers and proposing at the same time.

“Three guesses: tall, dark, and bumbling.”
“You’re Kansas’ version of Ken and Barbie.”

Jonathan won!
Lex called Lana? Uh, oh.

Crap, Lex just felt the ring.
Nice effect with the alcohol stoking the fire.

Lex is chasing Lana?
Shit, he just killed her.
And Lex saw Clark run up?
Of course Clark blames himself. He always does.
Only one chance? Suppose they couldn’t make it too easy for Clark to reverse time, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

Back further than I expected. Now he’s not going to tell her.
And they’re going to break up again?

“Right. What did you do, spin the Earth backward on its axis?”

Seriously had to rewind about 3 times just to stop laughing enough to write it down.
“Alright, McFly, do you want to start with how or why?”

How did Clark not proposing to Lana result in Lois almost getting electrocuted?
Lionel’s already asking for favors?

And Lex is still chasing her.
Nice save, Clark.
Damn, Jonathan was on the way home either way, wasn’t he?

Crap, here it comes. Homecoming spoiled this.

Wow, just no words for those last five minutes. Only slight quibble is how blatantly fake that falling snow was.

Great dramatic episode. Loved the proposal scene, even though it didn’t really end up happening. So now Lana doesn’t know again and very well may get together with Lex.

It’s a shame to lose Jonathan, but I think it might have been time for him to go so that Clark could start setting his own path a bit more.

wasn’t the writing awesome back then? It’s funny and witty, but at the same time the writer knew where they want to take the story and how they want to do it.

whenever i think of smallville i think of these strings of great episodes from season 4 to season 5. From the return of Alicia, to Chloe learning the secret, to Brianiac and the Fortress, finally to Lexmas and this episode.

What I don’t get is… why doesn’t Clark just propose again, but this time save Lana since he knew what’s going to happen?

Because then they couldn’t go with a Lex/Lana/Clark love triangle.

And something would have to happen to split them up later anyways, since they’re already dropping Clark/Lois hints.

Seriously, you’re right. He was probably worried about Lex finding out, but maybe if he’d asked her to join him and his parents in the photo op, she wouldn’t have been in a position to answer her phone.

If she had gone to see Lex, the result probably would have been about the same as the second timeline anyways, except for the fact that Lex would know Lana knew Clark’s secret.

EDIT: Reading the page about this episode on the Smallville wiki, they said that Lana wasn’t there to catch Lois when she almost fell going for the junk food, and that’s why Lois was unconscious in the second timeline. Bit of a stretch, but it’s better than anything I came up with.

that’s the part of smallville i am trying to forget XD

I always imagined that Jonathan Kent ran on the Democrat platform. Because his actions doesn’t agree with Republican’s stance on illegal aliens…

 Took me a second to get that.

I’d like to imagine that politics in fictional universes are nonpartisan. Of course, I’d like them to be that way in the real world too, but it’s too much to hope for.

Wow, it’s unfortunate you didn’t see this before Homecoming, but it’s a great episode nonetheless. To me, this is the episode that splits Smallville into (at least) two parts. Before Clark had to stand on his own, and after. Yes, there’s the high school, college and Daily Planet, but I dunno. Everything changed in this episode. Moreso than Chloe finding out.

The axis joke was awesome. Totally forgot that was in this. One of the best reference was from SG1.

Mitchell: What we need is we need Superman to fly around the ship really really fast.
Sam: If you only knew how ridiculous that was.

(:

Episode 513 - Vengeance
LOL at Clark accidentally breaking the wrench. Only thing that would have made it better is if he casually heat-visioned it back together and kept working with it.

Martha, that looks like a crappy neighborhood to be in at night.
Nice save from … whoever that was.

Jonathan’s still in the credits? Well I suppose he was in half the season.

Lana’s still a good friend.

Clumsy girl seemed startled by the pics. Vigilante working at the Daily Planet using glasses to conceal their identity? Sounds familiar, but I can’t quite place it.
She has powers? That’ll make things more interesting.

Clark’s using Chloe as bait? That’s a bit dark.
Oh, he’s pretending to mug her to try drawing the girl in. That’s a bit better.
Smooth escape attempt. Too bad Clark only needed 1 jump.

Lionel’s trying to take over LuthorCorp again?

Heart transplant from a meteor shower victim? That makes a certain amount of sense I suppose.
“I’m kind of allergic.” Glad she called him on that. Allergic to a rock really doesn’t make much sense.

“I’m sure he’ll pop up again soon or blur in or whatever he does.” Bit of unintentional forehshadowing there.

“You always change in a phone booth?” Speaking of foreshadowing.
Nice detective work with the pizza call, Clark.

She’s encouraging Clark to kill the mugger?
Lionel put out a hit on her mom? This won’t end well.

Interesting way to look out for your family, Lionel.
And nice counter-play from Lex.
“I hope you enjoyed your stay… I’m sorry it was so short.”

“Why do I think you saved my life for her sake, not mine?” Because you’re not stupid, Lionel.
Crap, Lionel just called Clark “son”.
Huh, Clark didn’t react to that at all? Thought he’d be pissed off.

Lionel almost sounds sincere in this scene with Martha.
“I hear the governor has asked you to take Jonathan’s seat in the senate.” So that’s why.
Then back to sincere? Something’s up.

Lana found the watch? Nice. I hope Clark keeps wearing it.
Home video? Nice.

EDIT: Sorry, was so busy trying to find the smilies, I forgot to put my overall thoughts.

I know this may be considered sacrilege, but I actually liked this episode more than Reckoning. Sure, Reckoning was spectacular, but this did an awesome job of showing Clark trying to move on and not really being able to until he did something he knew Jonathan wouldn’t approve of. Very real, plus loads of awesome foreshadowing and a great emotional scene at the end.

Heh. I missed the Blur foreshadowing on the live broadcast.

I remember laughing at the phone booth foreshadowing though. (:

The “her sake, not mine” line was great.

I think Clark checked him on the “Son” comment before. Or, maybe later…

how great is smallville season 10 so far. I mean really ear to ear grin everything that makes superman fun and light and awesome… i know i just seem like cheerleader here, you know minus the hot but still.

its just a great time.

Like I said, I’m sure they didn’t even think of that line when they started calling him the Blur.

They might have. Some of the writers may plot out that far ahead.

and he wasn’t just the blur from the start either.

i have to say i have a very faint memory of that episode. actually… i probably don’t member much about the rest of season 5 v_v

I remember the end of the season and the fallout that continued through the next.

Episode 514 - Tomb
Chloe in the shower?
Possessed again?

Psychiatrist in Smallville? Guy’s got to be almost as rich as Lex. :stuck_out_tongue:
I don’t trust him though.
“I’m a writer. If I was going to kill myself, I’d leave one hell of a suicide note.” True.

Lionel stopped by again? He’s so up to something.

“I want Fine located or someone’s going to be wondering where you disappeared to.”
Did Lana just suggest sending Chloe to Belle Reve? She has almost as many enemies there as Clark does.

“Guys, I’m drugged, not deaf.”
Clark, you should have X-rayed the wall before dismissing Chloe’s claim.
Kryptonite in the wall too? Damn.
Quantum Leap mirror trick? Nice.
Wouldn’t they have found the body when they were renovating the Talon in preparation to reopen it?

Yay, Chloe tazed Lex.
And Lex blames Clark for Chloe escaping? True, but how would he know?

Nurse boy put the girl in the wall?
How did he get back in? I’m sure they would have changed the lock after Adam stayed there at the latest.

Surprised Lois didn’t knife him.
Oops, spoke too soon. Awesome throw.
“Are all the women in your family crazy?”
Nice, the bracelet transferred Gretchen to him.

Is the senate seat their way of writing out Martha too?

Nice scene at the end with Chloe going to see her mom.

This wasn’t the worst episode of the season, but it was right down there. The beginning was a bit too slow and it never really picked up.
