Episode 502 - Mortal
Lionel in Belle Reeve? Makes sense.
Nice escape.

And for once, Clark running to the farm took more than a second.
“The past can’t hurt us any more.” That line almost makes me regret this not being like the Revenge Squad in Season 3.
Even freaks he didn’t interact with hate Clark?
Just thought of something. Lots of freaks seem to have electricity based powers.
“I heard being a 3rd wheel is very time consuming.” Ouch.
“Why is your shirt on inside out?” Busted.
Chloe has a Toughbook now? New sponsors I take it?
“Now, I couldn’t pull up anything called ‘Top Secrit Evil Lab’ on the schematics.” 
Whole scene at the trunk had me laughing my sorryBarb off too.
“What you’re saying is now that you’re human, you have absolutely no useful skills.”
“Gosh Chuck, I didn’t realize super-whining was one of your powers.”
You know what, I realized the typo after I typed that, but I got a real Chuck vibe from this episode, so I’ll leave it in.
Wow, Sheriff Obnoxious actually figured something out on her own for once.
Psycho twins are creepy as hell.
Nice effect with the car crashing into the bubble.
“What the hell is this, sheriff?” “Another day in Smallville.”
Nice, Chloe’s flash bang actually came into play.
“Keep moving, Sparky.”
Nice punch, Clark.
Lex helping those guys escape was intentional?
Yeah, friendship definitely over.
Fun episode, especially Chloe (who was dropping more cleavage than usual this episode) and Clark breaking into LuthorCorp without the benefit of superpowers. Half expected Clark to get his powers back by the end, but it’s nice that they’re keeping that story going for a while. Oh, and I bet they’ll pick up the next episode right after this one with Clark and Lana getting interrupted.
It’s so much fun after Chloe openly knew.
hmm, so if Clark is Chuck, then who is Chloe? Morgan? Who is Casey on the show
man, now i want to watch season 5 again…
Well, Lana is Hannah I’m tempted to say that Chloe is Sarah, but based on later seasons, Lois is probably a better match.
Oh, I’ve got it, Chloe’s Anna.
I’m tempted to say that Jor-El is Beckman, but Beckman isn’t a dick, so that’s out.

Episode 503 - Hidden

Love Jonathan’s reaction to Martha’s “safe” comment.

So he’s launching the nuke from the same county? Awfully short range for an ICBM.

And Tory’s Clark’s doc? :eek: He’s in trouble.
He’s nuking Smallville to kill meteor freaks? What about the ones in Belle Reeve?
Guess that confirms there was kryptonite in the second meteor shower.
Lionel just punched through the window? Or should I call him Lion-El?
Yeah, Tory lost him, but not in the way she though.
And now Chloe shot Junior?

“I hope the time is coming when you will call me father.” Not even when hell freezes over.
And now someone else is going to die? From the bit at the end of Lazarus, I’m guessing Jonathan. The question is how long will they keep it hanging over Clark’s head before pulling the trigger.

Now how is that not flight? It had the takeoff effect and everything.
Why doesn’t Clark climb the missile in super speed? Other than that it wouldn’t be as dramatic, I mean.
Well, at least this way, Clark won’t be able to avoid Chloe knowing he has his powers back.

I don’t buy Lionel not remembering any of it. Jonathan remembered everything from when Jor-El gave him powers. Question is how much of it he remembers and what he’s going to do with it.
“Besides, makes my whole sidekick role a lot easier if you can bring super-duper strength to the table.”
Some fun bits, but a bit of a step backwards from the last 2 episodes. Ooh, just thought of something else. Why did Lionel only write the Zod symbol on his walls?
i guess Pete was supposed to be Morgan, but turned out to be a jerk. come to think of it, Chuck has it a lot easier… for starters, Chuck isn’t a BDA…
hehe, i actually really liked this episode. maybe the first couple of episode were so fun because it showed Clark having the ability to do good even when he lost his powers.
and this episode showed there are just some things way too big, situation too dire, that only Superman can save the day. That’s why Superman faces off god like villains in the future. Because it just won’t be that believable if Batman or Spiderman can take on Darkseid or Brianiac.
i like how Clark came to that realisation that his powers are needed for him to save the world in the way only he can, as if he was destined to be the savior. And he is willing to save people even when it comes with sacrifice of his own.
but i think this episode was worth it for the bedroom scene alone.
Episode 504 - Aqua
Nice Bond Girl closeup on Lois coming out of the water.
Board to the back of the head? Ouch.
Aquaman, really? I know they can’t get Batman because he has his own movies, but Aquaman?
Isn’t Clark’s professor the Founder?
“Lex isn’t a saint, but I don’t think you can put him in the same league as those guys.” Not yet at least.
“You know, the whole orange and green thing you’ve got going … looks like Flipper threw up.”
“I would think a college professor would be quoting Karl Marx, not Groucho.”
“German philosophy’s easy. Comedy’s hard.”
AC just looks like he’s a jerk. He isn’t, but he looks like one. Maybe it’s the shape of his face.
Love his banter with Lois before they started making out and Clark walked in on them.
AC’s going from rescuing whales to ecoterrorism?
The underwater fight scene was a bit cheesy, but I give them credit for trying something different.
I wonder if Clark’s heat vision would have dissolved the water things AC shot at him.
You know, I think I might have actually seen this episode before.
AC’s vulnerability is dehydration? Bit easier than Kryptonite.
OK, Lex is pretty much fully evil now. Is it just that we’re seeing him without Clark’s bias now, or was it Clark’s friendship that was keeping him somewhat good before/
“Well, you didn’t tell him about my pitchfork, did you?” Interesting that Lex is still joking with Clark even now.
Clark should put AC in touch with Bart. He might not want to join a group of superheroes yet, but they both suggested it.
Despite me being a smartass about AC, this was a pretty good episode. Seeing Lex progress into the villain he’ll eventually become and introducing a new superhero. Is Clark going to end up fighting any other superheroes he encounters for half the episode before siding with them? With this and Run, it’s starting to be a pattern.
I believe the term is Befriend. ^^
Note: Even though I now know that Prof. Fine is Braniac (because of Homecoming), I’m still going to call him Professor Founder until it’s revealed as I watch.
Episode 505 - Thirst
Is that Carrie Fisher?
Freeze and voiceover surprised me. Definitely framed differently than the other eps.

“I know. The buying of influence is part of my second semester.” I don’t trust Professor Founder, but I am starting to like him.
They’re making Lana a vampire? This won’t end well.
“Never start a game you can’t win.” Yeah, I like Prof. Founder. He has a real presence to him.
Kat is Chloe’s roommate? Nice.
“I’d rather be roommates with a two-headed monkey.”
“Actually, it is mine.” :eek:
OK, I’m sick of the sorority girls already.
“Pretty plastic people.”
“Don’t you think the cape was a little much?” “I kinda like it.”
You know, Chloe, Wall of Weird material isn’t really the best option for an audition article.

How did Chloe sanitize her article of Clark’s super powers? Couldn’t have said what actually happened to Buffy (nice touch by the way).

Not a very good episode. I like their attempt to try something different with the way they framed the story. Too bad it couldn’t have been paired with a better plot.

yeah, this was the first episode that wasn’t very impressive for season 5. good things are ahead of us tho… even if more bad is just beyond that.
i have to say i am a bit disturbed that Chloe is missing in season 10…
i am not so sure about the way the plot is handling it. I mean, Clark doesn’t seem to be looking for her. Oliver is just brooding and not looking for her either. And you’d think Lois Lane of all people would realize all digital records of her Cousin has been erased.
Anyway, I love Allison Mack’s acting, and I keep thinking back to the season 2 episode when she read the letter to an unconscious Clark.
I wanna let you in on a secret. I’m not who you think I am. In fact, my disguise is so thin, I’m surprised you haven’t seen right through me. I’m the girl of your dreams, masquerading as your best friend.
That was a beautifully written letter, the writers really did a great job. And Allison’s acting was brilliant in that whole scene. I guess i just miss those moments from the original casts.
Episode 506 - Exposed
Shouldn’t that lady be calling a cop, not a reporter?
Ouch, that was a nasty looking collision.
Why would a senator be going to the Kent farm?
Lex is running for Senate? That won’t end well.

And naturally, Lex knows the club.

Lex isn’t releasing it? What’s his angle?
“I’ll have a Coke.” Bet they don’t get that order much.

Love Clark’s reactions when Lois went over to his table. Only thing that would have made it more awkward was if it’d been Chloe instead.
Why didn’t Clark superspeed out when the cops showed up?
LOL at the senator getting in the car Dukes of Hazzard style and Jonathan’s reaction.
Others? Got a bad feeling about this.
Clark grappling hooked the helicopter and used that to pull it down? Surprised the hose could take that much stress.
The cops can’t touch him?

Jack wants Jonathan to run for senate against Lex? That could be interesting.

Better than Thirst, but not as good as the rest of the season so far. Guessing this was mostly to set up the Senate campaign as a story for a good chunk of the season.
Episode 507 - Splinter
Lana was doing meteor trajectory analysis? What for?
Scratch with some form of kryptonite? That’s not good.
Why’s someone trying to force Clark off the road?
Ouch, nasty wreck.
Professor Founder hinted that Lex was trying to kill Clark just after talking about betrayal in class? He’s got to be behind it.
Lex didn’t send the kryptonite and Clark went to Lana’s dorm because of a text message she didn’t remember sending? The kryptonite was part of the setup.
“Thanks. Did you get that from a fortune cookie?”
Lionel wants to fund Jonathan’s campaign?
Bet Clark walks by and hears the conversation.
Lionel knows everything? Even if he got most of it from the stone, how would he know the word ‘kryptonite’? Clark made that up.
Clark has to be imagining a good chunk of this.
I thought he couldn’t use his powers when he was in the vicinity of green kryptonite? Otherwise, wouldn’t he always run away?
Clark didn’t let his parents know that Chloe knew? That’s a surprise.
“Up north. I know a place.” Um, Clark, small problem with that. The Fortress isn’t really all that big on creature comforts.
Now Professor Founder is saying he didn’t see Clark at class?
“I think this is the part where I usually say ‘Lana, what are you talking about?’.”
Clark’s going to see this conversation too?
At least he has a built-in excuse with Lana this time.
Nice effect with the X-ray vision fading to normal when Clark found Lana.
Interesting fight with Clark and Professor Founder. Why didn’t Clark dodge the heat vision?

The silver kryptonite disappeared during the excitement? Yeah, Professor Founder is so behind it.

I’m starting to think that Chloe would be a better match for Clark than Lana.
Crap, they are going for a Clark/Lana/Lex love triangle.
He’s not telling his parents about Professor Founder either?
Oh, he thought he imagined it.
“My name is Clark and I’ll always believe in my friends and family.”
This was another very different episode, but this time it worked out really well. The camera work really added to the vibe they were going for.
You sound surprise. They had a Clark/Lana/Pete/Chloe square there for a while…
I thought they had moved past it though.

yeah, the whole Clark/Lana/Lex crap is probably the low point of the series… it had one good episodes though… which is coming up soon.
Episode 508 - Solitude
Lois thinking she’ll screw up and have to live in a van down by the river seems to be a common theme.
“Maybe your super hearing picked up a car backfiring two counties away.” 
“There must be enough dirt on you to create a landmass the size of Texas.” Superman Returns reference there?
“Muffin peddling college dropout.”
I just realized something that may not be popular. Jonathan’s really saying the same thing as Jor-El. They both want Clark to choose between being human and being Kryptonian rather than letting him take parts from both.
CKU is in Smallville but the Talon is the only coffee place? That seems a bit odd.
Jor-El tortured dissidents? He’s a jerk, but that doesn’t sound right.
Zod as a great hero? OK, I’m really calling BS now.
EM pulses from the ship? That must be what’s controlling Martha’s “disease”
“The great bald hope of Kansas.”
Lois is Chloe’s sidekick?
Lois’ car as a distraction? Not what I expected.
Now, knocking him out is more what I thought.
Professor Founder wants Clark to destroy the Fortress? That’s what he’s been going for all along.

Great acting in this episode. Professor Founder has been fully revealed as a bad guy now and revealed that he’s connected to Zod. Not sure how this plays into Zod not being around until Season 9, but I’m sure it’ll make sense in time.
For a while (half a season?), I also thought Chloe might be better for Clark from how the series progressed. They have a better on screen chemistry as friends, and it might have worked. But, there’s almost no way (outside of a time loop, possession, or red kryptonite) the writers could have or would have allowed that I think.
Agreed about the Clark/Lana/Lex arc though. I wasn’t a fan…until the end. ^^ But, it was hard for me to get through even though they explained it from Lex’s side.
